Was secretly hoping for a bigger discount for Stellaris (even though i know it´d be economic bollocks from Paradox )

This War of Mine 75% off and NBA 2k16 80% off are my big recommendations from games i loved myself.

Have set myself a budget of 30 bucks. Might get Sunless Sea and also The Long Dark. Maybe Endless Legend to finish things off.

I know I spent more last year, but my excitement level for the sale is in the tank compared to previous years. I know the fun it used to be will never return.

I'll probably pick up "Fallout 4" and the new "Doom." Maybe some DLCs for some old games. Other than that, I am pretty well set.

Is there anything a Steam controller can do that an X-Box controller can't? I haven't even looked into it, just assumed it was a regular gaming controller.

When I bought it, I played the hell out of it. I haven't played anything else like it - it's brutal, and at times almost depressing. Worth playing for the experience of it alone, and I keep thinking about firing it up again but I'm not sure I can put myself through it again.... once you get up into day 20+ it can get brutal, desperately hoping to find medical supplies to heal your wounded and hungry housemates....

Yes, there is a lot the Steam Controller can do that you can't do with an XBox 1 or 360 pad.

1. The touch pads lets you play mouse and keyboard based strategy games. The right touch pad offered excellent mouse emulation.
2. It's highly customizable. You can change buttons to any input, along with a couple of extra buttons on the grip.
3. Soft and hard pull triggers. Part of the customization is that you can have the triggers do different actions. For example in a shooter instead of having left trigger aim and right trigger shoot you can aim when you start to pull the right trigger and shoot with a full pull, leaving the left trigger open for something else.
4. Touch menus. Another thing that helps for games you couldn't typically play with a controller, you can set actions to bring up onscreen menus to make up for the lack of hotkeys without using a keyboard.

5. Gyro aiming. You can use the controllers gyroscopic feature to fine tune aiming by moving. I'm not a big fan of it as I like aiming with the touch pad (not as good as a mouse but better than any controller), but I've read positive reviews from others. It can also be used for steering in racing games.

The level of customization really sets it apart from any other controller out there. I still use an XBox One pad for some games so it's not a complete replacement of it for me (sometimes it's because the XBox One controller just feels better to me for some games, sometimes because a game doesn't always play nice mixing mouse+keyboard and controller inputs at the same time), and it takes some time and effort to learn how you like the settings but it is a great controller.

+100. It got brutal for me after like day 5 in game. Just for the experience alone the game is worth it, but not sure how many time I will play it. I agree with the depressing comments, the game is well thought out and well designed. It hits you the exactly the way it wants to hit you. It made me think about war in a new light that I hadn't exactly thought about before.

I've been waiting for CK2 to go on sale. Nice.

Worth it to get Collection which appears to include the entire DLC for $39.99?

[edit] doesn't include Way of Life or Charlemagne

Try reinstalling. I could not buy the game yesterday, but I was able to do so this morning. There was probably high demand yesterday, and it could have messed things up. Steam loaded some files then the game itself did, a whole lot of them, before starting successfully for me.

I have a Steam Controller and like it a lot. It is a bit bigger in the hand than a normal controller, but it can do a lot, particularly if you want to customize it. I got it for the fact that it can emulate the mouse pad, and because it works so well with my Steam Link. Very happy with it, and considering getting a second one during the sale.

I haven't noticed any issues with the build quality. I'd rate it much higher in that category than I would my XBox One pad that had the grips start to get loose shortly after I got it.

One of the things I really like about Thea, teh Awakening is that all of the dlc is released for free, a new quest tree, more monsters adding multiplayer, etc. All free (In fact, the only DLC that costs money is there because fans asked to have ways to give more money to the game, considering the cheap cost of the game, + the high quality dlcs released thus far).

Anyways, I know some of y'all have been looking at Thea online, I played it through a few times and really liked it. I put 25 hours into it.

Here's my quick positive review from Steam:

"This is a fun, unqiue, highly flavored world that has a lot under the hood. While there are some design decions I take umbrage with (the lack of advancement in most games is lacking, even after winning I might only get 8 or 12 advances, with one each needed to unlock most resources, buildings, and items to build - and some taking two points instead of one to unlock or just having one save game at a time). But that's pretty much it. Other than that, the game is smooth, and once you've figured it out, you can play a game in a few hours from start to finish as you try different levels of
difficulty and unlock and use and level up different gods."

Many of the events and such are random, as is the world, so other than the core quests, it's very possible that you'll have different stuff each time. I played the first time on easy, and won in 175 turns. I played on normal and won in 130, and then on hard in 106. (Then they added the giants, quest, and I haven't finished that one yet).

It has some quirks, it's ok. The game is worth it to my mind.

And with Summer Sale it's just $12

While it might be better overall, the Steam sales have been much less exciting in the new format. I don't find myself hurrying over to check out what's on sale today, and as such I'm not buying as many things.

If you're thinking you will play a lot of it and it saves money I would buy the whole DLC pack.

I know I have. I Picked up a few things, but haven't been as impressed as I usually am with the offerings. Might be because most of the games that are on nice sales, I picked up during "other sales".

Vince might be onto something with the format

Although the new way they do these sales is not as exciting, I do like it better being able to see all the sales right up front. I typically never buy new releases so my wish list has some older titles on it that I end up buying once they are on sales for <$10.

I picked up Bioshock Infinite for $8 and so far it is amazing!

I'm the same way. I picked up a handful of games for a total under $20:
Etherlords II
Euro Truck Simulator 2 - East + North Expansions
Outcast 1.1
Plants vs. Zombies GOTY Edition
Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

I'm still tempted by Sunless Sea, Telltale Game of Thrones, Metro Redux Bundle, and some CK2 mods. They'll have to wait though since I've already exhausted my budget.

The new format sucks, I really miss the daily deals and flash sales. And the little games and stuff. This sale will probably be the first one that I buy nothing.

Nah, the new format, even as they were saying how amazingly successful it was last year, still sucks. They took all the life out of it. I still haven't bought anything this year. I've added a few things to the wishlist, and I may end up picking up a few things, but nothing I can't live without either.

Just spent $160 on games and $130 on Rocksmith dlc song packs.

Of course I'll probably never play any of those games nor I'll ever plug my guitar in the computer, but I felt great for a few minutes fooling myself that one day I'll have time to play games or guitar as I used to do.

Oh yeah, I played it during a free weekend a few months ago and liked it a lot. Unfortunately, I'm pretty broke at the moment, and shouldn't have spent what I did. It's at the top of my list for next sale, and I should have finances sorted out by then.
