That win has us in 2nd place behind Iran who we play on the 20th.

Wayne Rooney was voted Manchester United Player of the Year by supporters.

We had about 8 players graduate our youth academy and join our system. In particular, we have an 18 year old winger/attacking midfielder with BLAZING speed. If he ever develops his skills, he could become a very valuable player.

We've been given 24.5 million dollars for EPL TV Rights for the upcoming season.

We will play West Ham in the English Community Shield on August 5th.

The board is very pleased to announce that dividends totalling 42 million dollars will be paid to Shareholders.

We have signed a new 6 year sponsorship deal worth 9.6 million dollars per year.

The board has announced that I will have a transfer budget of 67 million dollars in the upcoming season.

Today we play against Iran in our final Group C World Cup Match. If we win, we advance. Despite not having that much talent, Iran has won both of it's previous games in the group. Their main star is midfielder Ebrahim Hoseini. Ebrahim has decent speed, good positioning, and very good technical skills. He is an excellent passer and long range sniper.

We are 2-5 favorites.

It's sunny with temperatures in the 70's.

44 minute mark: Cook tries to pass it into the box to Rooney.. a defender knocks it back to Cook.. he shoots.. it deflects off a defender.. into the lower left corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0.

Halftime: 1-0 lead. We've played very poorly this first half. We are missing many of our passes, turning the ball over, negating our offense.

58 minute mark: Hall steals the ball from their right winger.. passes it to Rooney.. he dribbles into the box.. the keeper comes out to stop him.. Rooney with a fancy dribble around the keeper.. shoots into the open net! GOAL!!!! 2-0.

71 minute mark: Corbett on for Parker, Platt on for Rooney, and Moore on for King.

73 minute mark: Harvey centers it to Cook.. Cook shoots a powerful curving shot.. upper left corner.. GOAL!!! 3-0.

Hall wins MoM, 9 for form, 26 of 26 passes, 4 key passes, 2 of 3 tackles, 3 of 4 headers, 2 interceptions, 3 runs, 2 fouls drawn, and 1 assist.

Cook also had a 9 for form. Except for Alan Thomas (7 for form) all of my other starts had 8's for form.

So, Tim Howard's career ends in disappointment. He is about to retire, and I'm still hoping that I can bring him onto my staff.

His career numbers are worth noting. He had 753 starts, 2 relief appearances. He conceded 450 goals, had 363 clean sheets, 59 MoM awards, and an average form of 7.37 in his career.

I watched the Italy vs Brazil match and it was a classic. Italy had the deciding goal on a corner from Samuele Zangari to Salva at the 35 minute mark. Salva is being lauded as a hero tonight. Italy advances with the 1-0 win.

At least, I don't have to worry about my Adriano burning us in the World Cup again.

Nigeria beat the Republic of Congo 3-0 in the other match today.

Today we play Portugal in a big time match. Portugal is led by my player, Helder Barbosa. Helder has been playing both left wing and striker depending upon the match and has done both well for his country. Ricardo is a 21 year old skilled striker who has been starring for Parma. He has 14 goals and 5 assist during this past year. Nuno Ferro has played well in the midfield for Liverpool and continues to play at a high level. Bruno Gamma is a tough midfielder who plays with great determination. Rui Caeiro is an average keeper who is only 22 and might become very good, but isn't there yet.

We are 6-4 favorites.

It's overcast with temperatures in the 70's.

They come out in an aggressive 4-2-3-1 that is one of the most aggressive formations I've ever coached against...

2 minute mark: Barbosa dribbles down the left sideline.. around Miller.. crosses it to the middle of the box.. Ferro heads it.. over the bar.

5 minute mark: Long pass from Norman to Rooney.. he dribbles into the box.. shoots.. the keeper blocks it.. it flies out to Parker.. Parker passes it back tO King.. he fakes out a keeper.. blasts a shot.. lower left corner.. GOAL!!!! 1-0. That is King's 20th goal for England!

15 minute mark: Miller passes to Cohen up the pitch.. he passes to Rooney in the box.. Rooney shoots from 17 yards out.. over the bar.

21 minute mark: Hall gets a yellow card for tripping Ferro.

25 minute mark: Harvey dribbles down the right sideline.. crosses it long.. just inches over Rooney's head as it sails all the way across the pitch and out of bounds.

39 minute mark: Miller steals it from Barbosa.. passes it long to Rooney who heads it to King.. he has a breakaway.. whistle.. King is called for being offside.

Halftime: 1-0 lead for us. We are controlling possession and playing solid defense.

Lee on for Hall who is tired and has a yellow card.

49 minute mark: Harvey gets the ball at midpitch.. crosses it to Lee on the left wing.. Lee dribbles aggressively into the box.. fakes out a defender.. dribbles deep into the box.. the keeper comes out to Challenge him.. he plays a quick little chip pass to Rooney who heads it into the wide open upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 2-0.

52 minute mark: Cohen passes it to Rooney in the box.. Rooney with a heel pass to Lee.. Lee dribbles deeper into the box.. great dribble.. blasts a shot.. upper right corner.. GOAL!!!! 3-0! Lee is on fire!

62 minute mark: Corbett on for Parker who is very tired, and Tucker on for Rooney who is tired.

Game over. 3-0 win

We outshot them 17-9 (6-3 on target)

Rooney wins MoM, 9 for form, 11 of 16 passes, 3 key passes, 0 of 3 tackles, 1 of 4 headers, 1 interception, 5 runs, 3 fouls drawn, 1 assist and 1 goal.

Norman, Morris, Miller, Parker, King, and Lee all had 8's for form. Cohen had a 6. Everyone else had a 7.

Lee really impressed me, and if I didn't have Pinna, I would make a strong play for him to become my new left winger. I still might...

Today we play Italy in the World Cup Quarter Final Match. Italy is a very talented team. Their keeper, Paolo D'Agostino is Roma's keeper and he is a dynamic keeper who is very difficult to beat. Their star striker is Mauro Di Mauro who played very well for Arsenal this past year. Mauro is very fast. Their other striker, Maurizio Pellegrino, plays for Reggina. He is just as fast as Mauro. Vincenzo Guidetti is a dominating centreback who has played well for Liverpool. Adriano Trotta I know well. He is as fast as any player on the pitch and can be a shut down left back. Salva is a very good centreback.

Italy are 5-4 favorites.

It's sunny with temperatures in the 70's.

96 minute mark: Lee passes to Rooney in the left half of the box.. he shoots.. upper right corner.. over the bar.

Halftime of extra time. 1-1 tie.

Grassi steps up.. shoots WAY over the bar!

Evans steps up for us with the chance to win it.. he shoots wide left.

Adriano Trotta steps up for Italy... shoots right at the keeper! Norman blocks it.

Thomas steps up for us again with the chance to win it.. Shoots it WAY over the bar.

Sabatini steps up for them.. shoots wide right!

Harvey steps up for us... he looks confident.. he shoots it barely wide left.

Marini steps up for them.. he shoots.. lower right corner.. GOAL. 5-4.

Rooney steps up.. he must score to keep us in it... he blasts the ball into the lower right corner.. GOAL!!!! 5-5.

Milan have withdrawn their bid for Heller.

Colombia beat Holland 3-1 in the 3rd place World Cup Match.

July 8, 2018 -

Italy beat Nigeria 1-0 in the World Cup Final. At least, we lost to the eventual winners. Italy won on an own goal by Christian Obodo at the 80 minute mark. Trotta and Salva played well in the match.

WOW. England feels that my performance in the World Chip was horrendous. They have sacked me!

France, Spain, Germany, and Argentina have also fired their managers. I decide I won't apply for any of those jobs, but if they approach me, I might take one of them..

The end of the World Cup signals the end of updates in this thread. I expect to start a new season thread in the near future. It will be interesting to see how Rooney declines and more so how Flores flourishs (hopefully.)

Sacked for losing in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion on an epic shootout? Sounds like the game has some unreal expectations.
