OT-History of Transatlantic Flight
Just read a great article. Transatlantic Straight Dope
I've always admired Lindbergh's achievement and remember fondly seeing the Spirit of St. Louis in the Smithsonian. It's a part of history I cherish as is the history of the space race. Here is an article which heralds some of the other pioneers who deserve to be remembered too. Doesn't take away from Lindy's achievements but they do deserved to be remembered too. For all these brave and adventurous souls who raced to connect the earth, a heartfelt thank you and good show is in order. We still remember and are thankful. Oh, and wouldn't airships be cool? It's a shame we totally abandoned that technology for anything but football games.

Funny, it turns out the reason for Lindy's trans-atlantic flights was he had some tail in Germany... "Honey, I'm gonna take a flight across the ocean. Why? Umm, cuz I feel like it... No, there is no other reason... Why do you ask???"

Never heard that but still, doesn't diminish the accomplishment does it?
