Actually I'd say it's no surprise that it is in Texas.

I'm intrigued about what other goods and services we can apply to this ruling.

Texas allows deadly force when it comes to theft of property. It seems like she stole $150 from him regardless of thoughts on what the transaction was for.

Looks like the deadly force/theft "law" only applies at night. So if you kill a craigslist ho who said no at 3pm, you get the chair. If'n it is after dark, you's good.

Wondering if it would apply to internet purchases.

WTF?

Escort killer acquitted by Texas jury

So the jury says that shooting the woman was justified? What kid of ass-backwards redneck state is that?

'Round here we might acquit for that, but you'll never get off with the double crime of duplicate thread starting and meaningless thread titling.

Pretty simple if you read the stories that explain the law that was used. Best I can tell from reading three different articles, if the jury indeed believed her intent was to steal from the guy then they ruled according to the law.

I would love to know many jury members wanted to vote guilty based on common sense, but had to vote not guilty based on the law.

Didn't see this thread, sorry for the repost.

That is insane. Doesn't say much about the education system in Tex-ass. The guy should get the chair just for being an idiot, cause everyone know that craig's list transactions are always completed ethically...

I don't agree with the law or anything, but I want to point out that I fucking hate how misleading Gawker is with their articles.

The trial wasn't about her "not putting out", it was about her taking $150. It was a Craigslist scam that is old as shit. Call the law stupid, I'd agree, but the article title is horribly misleading and done to stoke anger on Facebook and Twitter (where they need traffic from). The woman went into the guys house, took $150 from him, and then tried to leave with the stolen property. If this was a guy who came in to someone's house over an ad for something and stole $150, would there be outrage?

So basically is it legal to kill anyone, anytime in Texas now, as long as you use a gun?

His $150 back. Or maybe he did get it. They never really clarified that.

Except this would be the opposite of jury nullification since they would want to vote guilty.

Apparently as long as they took a little cash from you and it's dark out you've got every right to be Judge Judy and executioner in Texas.
