2020 March Madness Sim

So in lieu of eagerly awaiting the conclusion of conference tournaments and Selection Sunday, due to the Corona Virus, I have decided to carry out my own tourney. I hear the NCAA is considering releasing their official brackets, which if that happens in the next day or so I may restart this. If not then I will proceed with the Andy Katz bracket predictions. These games will be simulated with, What If Sports Sim Matchup engine.

I will post the brackets in another post, including the play in games, along with a schedule of when games will be simulated. Each game will get its own post with a box score included. I have also started up a Facebook page where I will post updates. Here is the link - https://www.facebook.com/College-Hoo...0398921601184/

Play in Game 2:

Memphis 78

With 4 of 5 starters in double digits led by Precious Achiuwa who also had 13 rebounds Memphis pulled away down the stretch. This win earns Memphis the right to play 5 seed Kentucky.

Game 1 of the East region:

1 - San Diego State 78
16 - Monmouth 73

The Monmouth Hawks led this one at the half 38-37 and held the lead all the way until 14:39 left in the second half. After that it was the Yanni Wetzel and Matt Mitchell show as they would score all but 6 of the final 28 points for San Diego State. Definitely a bit of a scare for the Aztecs.

Just an FYI if you head on over to the Facebook page in the first post you can see the box scores.

Game 2 of the East Region:

8 - Saint Mary's 76
9 - Texas Tech 79

Jordan Ford did all he could to lead Saint Mary's to a win pouring in 29 points on 12-21 shooting but in the end it was not enough. Saint Mary's blew a 9 point first half lead as the Red Raiders got hot in the second half, and made their free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

A see saw battle that saw several lead changes but in the end the Terrapins Anthony Cowan and Jalen Smith were too much for the Anteaters.
