Mataram's Second Golden Age under Xang Jai

October 14, 1642 - Our alliance has expired. I offer anotehr alliance with the three members - Pegu, Ayutthaya, and China. They all agree.

December 9, 1642 - Annam has insulted us and we have a Casus Belli against them for a year.

January 10, 1643 - I order a Chief Justice in Murumbidgee, Manunda, and Macquarie.

I order walls built in Vanin.

February 1, 1643 - We have a new Monarch to rule our glorius nation - Amangkurat I has seceeded his deceased father to the throne. Amangkurat I is good at diplomacy and average at administration and war.

April 11, 1643 - Our Inquisition in Johor has been sucessful and the populace has converted to the one true faith.

July 1, 1643 - The government of China has fallen again.

November 21, 1643 - We have Claimed New Land in Sarawak. The population, manpower and tax value all increase.

January 1, 1644 - I order Chief Justices set up in Sulawesi, Salabanka and Makassar.

I send some colonists to Wairoa, in New Zealand.

January 26, 1644 - China has Li Zechang's Rebellion, and they choose to destroy him. Their revolts increase even more.

April 23, 1644 - I invite Korea into our alliance and they agree.

April 26, 1644 - China has the Fall of the Ming Dynasty. The Manchu have taken over northern China, and China has moved their capital to the south and intend to keep fighting.

May 1, 1644 - The government of China has fallen.

May 19, 1644 - Manchu moves their capital to China's old capital in Beijing.

May 21, 1644 - Wairoa expands and more settlers are sent.

June 2, 1644 - China had The Chinese Collapse.

July 5, 1644 - Our Royal Marriage with Vientiane has expired. They reject my proposal for renewal.

October 12, 1644 - Wairoa expands again. More colonists are dispatched to the New Zealand colony.

December 3, 1644 - Manchu has the event The Manchu Advance. They choose to Attack Them Now While They are Weak. As such, Manchu has declared war on China. Korea dishonors aour alliance while Ayutthaya and Pegu accept.

For now, I accept, although I do not want war with Manchu. China has become a heavy stone around my neck. They must be cut loose soon.

March 2, 1645 - Wairoa expands again and even more people flock to the docks to set sail for the province.

July 22, 1645 - Wairoa expands again and I ship more colonists out to sea.

August 1, 1645 - China's government has fallen again.

December 14, 1645 - Wairoa expands and one last group of colonists set sail.

December 17, 1645 - Nippon, allies of Manchu, have landed 20000 men in Kwai and are attacking our forces there.

December 23, 1645 - The people of Macquarie have spontaneously built a fortress by themselves.

Decmeber 26, 1645 - Nippon eradicates our army in Kwai and lays siege to the city.

January 2, 1645 - I have no quarrel with either Nippon or Manchu. There is no need for this senseless war. I send a peace envoy to Nippon as the leader of my alliance - peace for 200 ducats.

They reject my offer.

I make the same offer to Manchu, peace for 200 ducats. They accept.

As Manchu was the leader of their alliances, I was able to bnegiotiate peace with them, but only on our behalf, not on the alliance's behalf. Still, we are now at peace again.

Building Up an Empire

May 1, 1646 - The government of China has fallen.

May 6, 1646 - Wairoa expands and is now a full city.

Wairoa:

765 people work the pastoral scenery at the port of Wairoa, the easternmost province of New Zealand. Sheep is the major business here, as the colonists send 765 ducats to our coffers and 1 to Samar.

I order a Tax Collector to Wairoa.

I order more coloniss to Taranaki, on New Zealand.

July 21, 1646 - Our oyal Marriage with Vijaynagar has expired. We renew our vows.

September 24, 1646 - Taranaki expands and more colonists are en route.

November 1, 1646 - The government of China has fallen again.

December 5, 1646 - An Exceptional Year economically has added 100 ducats to the treasury and reduced our inflation by 10%. My Economic Advisor is crediting me and my head for numbers for that growth.

January 1, 1647 - I reorganize my cabinet to include the following advisors:

Minister of War
Minister of Colonization
Minister of Trade
Minister of Diplomacy
Minister of Religion

January 2, 1647 - At the first meeting of the new cabinet, I decide to send a Missionary to Malwa. It is our most valuable non-Hindu province that can be easily converted. Hyderabad is actually more valuable, but has only a dim chance of sucess.

February 10, 1647 - Our colony in Taranaki expands. I send more settlers.

April 4, 1647 - I give Ayutthaya a Persoan Gift which maximizes our reations.

May 6, 1647 - I offer annexation to the Elephant. They accept and become a part of our glorius empire!

Phuket:

The section of the Malaysian Peninsula that connectes with the mainland, Phuket is a quite and unassuming land of fishermen. 24798 people work the sea here, sending up 19 ducats and 5 to Malacca in trade. The people here are of Thai descent and follow in the paths of Budda. They are currently experiencing nationalism, with the revolts that come with it, due to our annexation of their lands.

Bangkok:

The former capital of Ayutthaya is a very wealthy province, and one I was happy to obtain. Bangkok is adjacent to Cambodia and Kwai, thus connecting our SE Asian holdings. The port of Bangkok has 33105 people working the Chinaware trade. This port has a level two fortress. Like Phuket, the people here are Thai and Buddhist. And experincing nationalism. They give us 46 ducats annually and send 26 to Malacca in trade. Excellent.

Ayuthhaya's Military:

5000 infantry in Phuket with more being built.

20000 infantry and 5000 calvary in Bangkok.

3 Transports in Bangkok.
2 warships and a transports off the coast of Hanoi in the Gulf of Tonkin.

May 10, 1647 - I give a State Gift to Pegu that raises our relations.

July 24, 1647 - Taranaki expands. More colonists are en route.

August 1, 1647 - I give a Letter to Pegu.

We have a revolt in Hyderabad.

August 27, 1647 - We lost a lot of men, but ultimately crushed the rebels in Hyderabad.

September 1, 1647 - I offer Pegu annexation. They accept.

Irrawady:

Originally Pegu, then annexed by Ayuthaya, then won my Mataram in war, then won by China in war, then freed as Pegu in rebellion, now politically annexed by Mataram again. We have reclaimed Irrawady.

A port province west of Kwai, Irrawady has 23478 people working the spice trade. She sends us 20 ducats and generates an amazing 42 ducats in trade in Ganges. Currently experiencing nationalism, Irrawady's people are also Buddhist, but of Burmanese descent. She has a level 2 fortress as well.

Pegu military:

7000 infantry in Irrawady.

1 transport in the Straits of Malacca, with maybe some military personel on it.

Setting New Sights

With the annexation of two Buddhist nations, the remaining nation sof the Buddhist world are very disturbed. I'll need to assuage their feelings with ducats when I get them next year.

I don't think it's that big of deal. The remaing FIVE Buddhist nations are Dai Viet, Vientiane, Annam, Assam, and Myanmar. And, quite frankly, I could take them all simultaneously if they were to go to war with me. Still, I'd prefer peace, not war.

I will also need standing armies in Bangkok, Phuket and Irrawady to put down revolts. I start recruiting and equipping soldiers.

My next political target is Taungu. A poor one-province Konfucian nation, they should be easily swayed by money.

October 1, 1647 - China, our only remaining ally, has their government fall again. Sad.

December 15, 1647 - Taranaki expands and more colonists are sent.

January 1, 1648 - I order a Chief Justice in Bangkok.

My annexations had better maps than I in some areas. I have had the area north of Vanin revealed to me to some extent. It looks to be barren, deserted, and ready for an explorer or conquistador to enter and begin checking the area out.

Using those maps, I have found the east African country of Zanj, and I enter into a Trade Agreement with tem. Zanj merchants had been tacking some of our room in Mascate's Center of Tarde, so I am happy to have this agreement with them.

I send a State Gift to Taungu. Our relation simprove significantly.

February 16, 1648 - I invite Taungu to our alliance. She agrees.

March 18, 1648 - Taungu is sent a Personal Gift from us. Our relations are maxed.

May 20, 1648 - Taranaki expands. I order more colonists in.

June 7, 1648 - The Ottomans declare war on the Mameluks. A war of heavy hitters as Songhai, The Mughal Empire and Algiers join the Ottomans and The Hedjaz joins war with the Mameluks.

August 1, 1648 - The Mughals troops are being pulled out of India for the new war in the east!

October 9, 1648 - Taranaki expand and is now a full province.

Taranaki:

751 people raise sheep in this quiet area on the southern side of the northern island of New Zealand. The send us 12 ducats and Samar 1.

January 1, 1649 - I order colonists to Timaru.

January 28, 1649 - I offer vassalization to Taugu. They accept.

March 6, 1649 - Our Royal Marriage with Myanmar has expired.

I notice that Myanmar is not currently in an alliance....

I do a litte investigating into Myanmar.

March 21, 1649 - Myanmar is a poor one province nation, hardly worth our time. They are shepherds. The one advantage, however, is that the province borders China, allowing us military access if we can find a connecting route to Myanmar.

Intersting.

Howver, its relation beig distant from us, and really poor, push me off enough to look elsewhere for new targets.

Of the provinces close to us, here are the ones I like for economic reasons

Tarakan, the capital of two-province Arakan is a copper mine. It would also connect Irrawady with Santal.

Lao Cai - The Vientiane only have one province I like. Lao Cai has Tea as its major export, and its distance from us is a pretty limiting factor.

Da Nang - Very doable. It is adjacent to Cambodia and currently owned by two-province Annam. The people here work Chinaware.

Ganges, Howrah, Bihar - These three provinces are all tasty - and all are wealthy. Ganges is the cream of the crop with its Chinaware and Center of Trade! Howrah has expensives spices and Bihar has tea. Bihar is adjacent to me in Sambalpur and Ganges and Howrah are adjacent to Santal. The provinces are all owned by Bengal, who also owns the not-that-bad province of Koch.

Gujarat, Kutch - Gujarat is a wealthy nation of two weakthy provines - their capital Gujarat trades in spices and Kutch is another Chinaware province wih a Center of Trade. Malwa and Bombay both border Gujarat.

Delhi - If I go to war with the Mughals, I will have one goal in mind this time - Delhi. This province is one of the richest Chinaware provices in the world.

Yanam, Madras - Of the four provinces of Vijaynagar, two are really porr and two are very wealthy. Madras has spices and Yanam Chinaware. Both and on the East coast of India.

If, and that's a really big if, I ever go to war with China - my goals are to take Tea or Chinaware provinces. Which are about half of China. The other half is larely sheep and grain, except for an iron province deep in their territory.

The Matarami Second Golden Age Continues

May 1, 1649 - The Chinese government has again fallen. I don't know how much longer I am going to keep caring. It's pretty much a given that China's government will fall 1-3 times annually. It has ceased to be newsworthy.

May 15, 1649 - Timaru expands and more colonists are sent forth.

June 1, 1649 - Phuket revolts.

June 19, 1649 - The rebels are defeated.

July 25, 1649 - I send a fleet of transports to Pondicherry where they will pick up the Mysore army. Since Mysore's nationalism is gone, there is no longer a need for a standing army there. I'll ship the soldiers to SE Asia for now.

October 1, 1649 - Timaru expands and I send more colonists there.

Janaury 1, 1650 - I send a Missionary to Bangkok. It's a very valuable province and I would like to see it become even more so.

February 14, 1650 - Timaru expands. I send more colonists to teh New Zealand province.

July 1, 1650 - Bangkok is revolting!

July 3, 1650 - Timaru expands and additional settlers are leaving Bali harbor.

July 8, 1650 - We put down the Bangkok rebels.

July 15, 1650 - The Mameluks and Ottomans have come to peace for ducats.

October 21, 1650 - The Edict of Tolerance occurs, the last of the worldwide events.

Counter-Reformed Catholics lose their powers, the Treaty of Tordesillas is disabled and the effects of religion in the Christian sector are reduced, including allowing people there the ability to have Royal Marriage with any Christian. The effects on Mataram are unknown, but either none or very little.

November 19, 1650 - Timaru expands and a last wave of settlers embark.

January 1, 1651 - I order Chief Justices in Trivandrum, Cochin, Santal and Malacca.

April 5, 1651 - Timaru expands and is now a minor province.

Timaru:

The southern island of New Zealandis a land of sheep herders as 767 residents of this port send us 12 ducats and 1 to Malacca.

I order a Tax Collector for Timaru.

While checking our maps, I hear word that an area in Africa is open and free. I verify that they are correct, and they are. The province of Inhambane is currently neutral, and the natives have been wiped out. I send out colonists.

I understand that Zimbabwe had just destroyed a Trading Post of a country they are at war with, so hopefully, we will claim the land as our own.

August 1, 1651 - Mataram and Myanmar enter into a Royal Marriage.

October 1, 1651 - Our land technology has advnaced, and our troops should fight marginally better.

Bangkok and Irrawady both revolt.

October 13, 1651 - The rebellion in Irrawady has ended wit the death of every rebel.

October 16, 1651 - Revolts in Bangkok have been put down.

February 1, 1652 - Our colonization attempt to Inhambane has failed. I order more colonists to the coast of Africa.

I order a Chief Justice placed in Whangerai and Wairoa.

February 26, 1652 - We have a Rush of Colonists. Three more groups have decided to join our cause. I immediately dispatch one to Rabaul.

May 1, 1652 - Phuket is revolting.

May 22, 1652 - Rabaul expands and I dispatch more colonists to the island.

June 2, 1652 - We defeat the rabble in Phuket.

June 13, 1652 - Poland and Sweden have declined Trade Agreements with us.

July 1, 1652 - Irrawady is under revolt.

July 19, 1652 - The rebels are soundly defeated and driven into the ground.

August 20, 1652 - Rabaul expands. Colonists leave Bali for the quiet island.

November 1, 1652 - Bangkok rebels.

November 12, 1652 - Our standing army in Bangkok has defeated the rebels.

November 15, 1652 - Rabaul expands.

November 29, 1652 - We estalish a colony in Inhambane! I order more colonists to teh African province.

I also order more colonists to Rabaul.

February 22, 1653 - Rabaul expands.

April 26, 1653 - Internal Trade Ordinaces in bastar have cleared some roads in the mountainside, thus creating additional tax revenus from the province.

I order a Chief Justice to Bastar.

June 6, 1653 - Another province on the African coast has become available. Niassa is available, but they have extremely hostile natives there. I cannot sail to Africa with an army - it is too far away. But I can try and place a Trading Post there.

July 1, 1653 - Inhambane expands and I send another group of colonists to it.

August 20, 1653 - I send Dai Viet a State Gift. Our relations improve tremendously.

September 22, 1653 - I invite Dai Viet to our alliance. They accept.

October 23, 1653 - I send another State Gift to Dai Viet. Our relations improve close to the max.

October 23, 1653 - Dai Viet and Mataram solidify their new relationship with a Royal Marriage.

December 1, 1653 - Our Trading Post attempt in Niassa is sucessful!

December 15, 1653 - Dia Viet and Mataram seal their new friendship with a Royal Marriage.

December 26, 1653 - For some reason, Austria has decided to decalre war on us. I do not even bother my allies with this "war." If Austria decides to come, their armies and fleets will be tired, away from supplies, and beleagured. Easy kills.

February 2, 1653 - Inhambane expands. I dispatch more settlers immediately.

Inhambane is my priority right now. And if I can find a way to kill the natives in Niassa, that becomes my second priority.

It will take a whilke, but I could colonize Inhambane, build a few galleys, build an army, then set sail for Niassa.

That's the worst case scenario under which I take Niassa. Of course, Austria may burn it up for the natives could rise. But, if our post in Niassa survives, we can eventually land soldiers there.

September 1, 1654 - I offer Vijaynagar a spot in our alliance. They agree, sine their alliance with Arakan, Bengal, and Aden has expired.

September 9, 1654 - Our colonization attempt in Inhambane has failed. I send in more colonists.

October 6, 1654 - I send Vijaynagar a State Gift and our relations improve. Not as much as I would have liked, but they improve nevertheless.

January 1, 1655 - I order a Refinery built in Mindoro.

April 13, 1655 - Inhambane expands. I order more colonists to her.

October 26, 1655 - With some diplomats just sitting around, I offe Dai Viet vassalization. They refuse and our relations with them are hurt. Sweden and Courland turned us down for a Trade Agreement as well.

November 18, 1655 - Inhambane expands. More colonists are sent.

April 2, 1656 - Our Minister of Diplomacy has stepped down for a year when we hire an excellent man with great skills abroad for a year. The Excelletn Minister increases our Monarch's skill in administran, diplomacy and war. It is an excellet time to send out Missionaries, end wars, and gain vassals. Expect all three before the year is out to be attempted.

The End of Mataram's Second Gold Age. The Mughal-Mataram war of 1656-1658

April 3, 1656 - We have much to do over the next year. To begin, I order a Missionary to Irrawady.

May 12, 1656 - Austra refuses my peace entreaties.

June 3, 1656 - I send a Personal Gift to Dai Viet and oru relations are again maxed.

July 3, 1656 - Inhambane expands and more colonists are en route.

September 24, 1656 - Sweden and Courland turn down our Trade Agreement offer, but Poland agrees to one with us.

November 13, 1656 - The Mughal Empire declares war upon us. The Ottoman Empire joins their war. I call upon my allies for aid. China dares to dishonor our pact.

We have a Casus Belli against China for six months.

The Mughals appear fat and weak. I do not know why they have declared war upon us, but I intend to see it through.

I intend to see the Mughal state brought to knee.

I order my 50000 soldiers stationed in Malwa into Delhi where 22000 Mughal men await.

I order 15000 calvary from Gondwana into Bundelkhand to begin a siege.

I order 21000 men from Sambalpur to Raipur where 6000 Mughals are stationed.

I order 90 cannon from Khandesh into Gondwana to wait for a siege to begin.

I order the 19000 troops in Hyderabad into Malwa.

I am ready to strike like a serpent.

November 25, 1656 - Our calvary have arrived in Bundelkhand and initiate a siege.

November 27, 1656 - Mughals arrive in Bundelkhand and battle ensues.

November 28, 1656 - Our troops arrive in Delhi and Raipu where battle begins for both parties.

November 29, 1656 - We destroy the Mughals in both Raipur and Bundelkhand.

December 12. 1656 - We lose in Delhi but only 1000 Mughal troops remain. Our army is headed back to Malwa to regroup.

I order the calvary in Bundelkhand into Delhi.

I have a surprise for the Mughals. I move our domestic policy slider one notch to the defensive doctrine. Our Siege value for our troops goes back up, our shock value goes down, and we lose a bit of morale, plus a stability drop. But now, hopefully, we can capture cities much more quickly. And since I only around 1000 Mughal troops in the area, sieging will be more important.

I order cannon and infantry from Gondwana into Bundelkhand.

December 22, 1656 - Our calvary arrives in Delhi.

December 28, 1656 - Our calvary destroy the last Mughal forces in the city and The Siege of Delhi begins.

My goal, of course, is to capture Delhi and force it to us in peace negoiations.

January 1, 1657 - I arrive at a white peace with Austria.

Janaury 8, 1657 - I order 12000 infantry into Delhi from Malwa to help in the siege.

February 6, 1657 - Inhambane expands and i order more colonists there. I also order more colonists to Rabaul. And then I rid myself of any more colonization during the war.

February 20, 1657 - Vijaynagar has sent 40000 troops to besige Raipur with us. That is way too many, and I fear that attrition will kill more of us than the Mughals.

March 4, 1657 - Our Royal Marriage with the Mameluks has expired. We renew our vows.

April 5, 1657 - Vijaynagar leaves Raipur, for some inexplicable reason. I march in another couple of thousand so that we can continue our siege.

May 1, 1657 - Rabaul expands. They are now a full colony, but I don;t have time to look at them.

June 4, 1657 - 25000 mughals are marching towards Delhi. I order my remaining 27000 from Malwa into Delhi.

If the Mughals break us at Delhi, they'll have free reign to run amok in their Indian holdings. We must hold them here, at Delhi.

June 19, 1657 - Our army arrives in Delhi.

June 24, 1657 - 25000 Mughal troops - 98 cannon and 15531 infantry arrive at Delhi. not, for numbers purposes, a cannon takes 100 men to operation and guard, so 98 cannon is 9800 troops.

July 2, 1657 - We completely eliminate teh Mughal threat in Delhi.

September 1, 1657 - Our conversion effort to Malwa has failed and a revolt is occuring.

September 4, 1657 - We have captured Bundelkhand!

September 10, 1657 - Inhambane expands, but I have no time for affairs of colonizaton.

September 14, 1657 - We defeat the rebels in Malwa.

October 17, 1657 - The Mughals have launched an attack from the sea at us in Santal.

November 4, 1657 - Raipur has fallen to us!

November 6, 1657 - The Ottomans and Algiers have offered us a white peace and I accept.

November 7, 1657 - Austria declared war on the Mughals.

November 15, 1657 - We repel the Mughals from Santal, killing every last one.

December 1, 1657 - Our stability increased.

December 10, 1657 - Sieges of Awadh and Tirhut, the remaining Mughal provinces inside the line drawn by my troops, have begun.

December 17, 1657 - 19000 Mughals have appeared on teh boirder of Delhi. I order my Malwan army back to Delhi.

December 30, 1657 - 20422 Mughal infantry arrive in Delhi and assault my forces.

January 1, 1657 - 22000 more Mughals have appeard in Bikaner, next to Delhi. I order more troops built.

January 11, 1657 - Losing the battle in Dehi, and with 28000 more men, I order my troops into Malwa where we can regroup and expel the Mughals.

February 5, 1657 - As I feared, the Mughals have arrive to mess with our plans of conquest. 12000 Mughal troops have arrives in Bundelkhand, 6000 attack our forces in Atwadh.

Our forces have arrive back in Malwa and are regrouped. I order 34000 of my troops back into Delhi.

The other 15000 are ordered to Gondwana to chase down the Mughals.

February 20, 1658 - Our troops arrive back in Delhi and assualt the Mughal troops there.

February 26, 1658 - Losing, I order my sieging force in Awadh into Delhi. We destroyed the Mughal forces in Delhi.

March 1, 1658 - Several rebellions are sprouting up because my people are exhausted of war. This war needs to end sooner rather than later.

April 11, 1658 - Delhi is attacked by the Mughals.

April 20, 1658 - We lose a battle in Delhi versus the main Mughal army of 20000. I order armies of 22000 in Bundelkhand and 27000 in Malwa into Delhi to end this wave of troops.

May 1, 1658 - Our Trade Level has risen to Early Baroque (level 4). We get mroe money from trade, and we can now begin Trade Embargoes.

May 5, 1658 - Our armies arrive in Delhi.

May 12, 1658 - Our Royal Marriage with China has expired.

May 20, 1658 - We crush the Empire troops in Delhi and begin our siege again.

June 27, 1658 - Our army arrives in Awadh and attacks the 2500 Mughals there.

July 10, 1658 - We capture Tirhut!

July 13, 1658 - We defeat the Mughals in Awadh and begin a siege.

October 20, 1658 - Delhi falls to us! We can now demand Delhi in peace negotiations, which I now open. I demand Delhi from the Mughals.

They reject my offer of peace.

I order my troops to march further into Mughal territory. I won't stop unti I can take every last Mughal piece of land, or until they give in.

October 28, 1658 - The Mughals launch another assault by sea against Santal.

November 1, 1658 - Realizing their mistake, the Mughals offer me peace for Delhi, Raipur and Bundelkhand.

Delhi, I obviously want. Raipur is a poor little grain province, but it's of strategic value to me being so far into the territory I would take. Bundelkhand is of medium value to me with its Cloth exports.

I decide to take the Mughal offer.

I was unsure of my reputation. Taking provinces defensively, as I did, yields a smaller loss of repution, but a loss nevertheless. However, it appears that I am clear, and that Mataram escapes with a sullied, nut not completely sullied reputation.

November 2, 1658 - Rebels have captured Riau. I order soldiers there to reclaim our city.

Rabaul:

A small, poor island of fishers behind New Guinea and the province of Wewak, Rabaul was successfully colonized during the war, and I now get a chance to look it over. 714 colonists work the tiny port city here, sending 10 ducats to us a 3 to Samar.

I order a Tax Collector built here.

Inhambane

Another successful colony during the war, Inhambane is on what I can only believe is the southern half of Africa, on the east coast. 793 people work the slave trade here. The port of Inhambane is completely adjacent to unexplored territory, except to the sea. The people in this port send us 10 ducats and ship 7 to Veneto (Venice) in trade. The area is highly unsuitable for colonization, and we are losing 2% of our population annually.

I order a Tax Collector built here as well. And some calvary.

Raipur:

Just captured in the war, Raipur is a grain province in upper India. Next to our provinces of Sambalpur, Bastar, Gondwana and Bundelkhand, Raipur could play a very strategic role in future wars. Currently expericeing nationalism because we took her in war, the 41223 people here are Sunni and of Hindi descent. She sends us 14 ducats to our coffers and 2 to Ganges in trade.

I order a Tax Collector built here as well.

Bundelkhand:

A large and healthy province, the Sunni and Hindi people of Bundelkhand work cloth, creating 11 ducats in Kutch for trade, but sending us 23 ducats annually. Also experiencing nationalism, Bundelkhand has a level 3 fortress, makings assaults here difficult.

Delhi:

Ah, the crown jewel of our acquisitions. The 193747 people in this province make it our second largest, behind Malacca. The people here work Chinaware and send us 38 ducats annualy while creating 57 in trade at Kutch. Only Kutch itself sends more trade in. Also experiencing bouts of nationalism, the people here are Hindi and Sunni. Delhi has an Arts Academy and a level three fortress.

I order a Chief Justice placed here.

My work for today is done.

Cleaning Up Post-War Messes

I have too many provinces with a revolt risk - Irrawady, Phuket, Bangkok, Delhi, Raipur, and Bundelkhand. That is a lot of standing armies.

May 4, 1659 - Manchu had The End of the Ming Rebellions in the South. I do not know what that means, however, for either China or Manchu.

May 7, 1659 - Our Inquisition in Bangkok has been sucessful and the people there have converted to the Hindu way!

June 1, 1659 - Bangkok are revolting.

June 14, 1659 - We defeat the rebels in Bangkok.

August 21, 1659 - Our army in raiu has lost a battle with the rebels there, who are now moving to Ajeh to begin a siege there.

September 10, 1659 - A Plague! has occured in Mekong Delta. The population there is reduced.

October 4, 1659 - The rebels have captured Ajeh.

October 13, 1659 - Our army engages the rebels in Ajeh.

January 19, 1660 - I order walls built in Inhambane.

April 13, 1660 - 16000 troops disembark from Santal into Ajeh and attack the rebels.

April 22, 1660 - We lose to the rebels in Ajeh but eliminate most of them.

May 1, 1660 - Austria another hunk of lands from the Ottmans.

May 18, 1660 - We recapture Riau.

June 11, 1660 - The rebels in Ajeh are crushed and we begin a siege of the city.

July 1, 1660 - The peasants in Irrawady are rebelling.

July 27, 1660 - We lose to the peasants in Irrwady and the troops will have to regroup in Kwai.

October 26, 1660 - We defeat the rebels in Irrawady.

November 1, 1660 - The people of Raipur are revolting.

November 29, 1660 - The peassants in Raipur are pacified. For the moment.

December 29, 1660 - We have gained another Explorer! His name is Masrur. I now have three legitimate areas to explore.

North of Vanin and China, Africa's coast, or the Pacific and beyond. I decide to begin with a few areas near home, and decide what to do later.

January 1, 1661 - Delhi is revolting. We defeat them 6 days later.

I order a Refinery built in Colombo.

April 22, 1661 - Manchu had The Coastal Evacuation.

June 24, 1661 - We recapture the province of Ajeh from the rebel scum. I redistribute my armies to Santal and India.

January 1, 1662 - I send a Missionary to Phuket.

March 1, 1662 - I decide to explore Africa, at least for now.

April 1, 1662 - Our infrastructure has increased. We can now place Governors in our provinces.

Reforming Mataram

Tax Collectors increase the tax revenue in a province by 50% and increase the revolt risk by 3%

Chief Justices can only be placed where a Tax Collector already is. Another 50% boost to tax incomes and -1% revolt risk as the people feel more protected.

Governors, which we now have, increase a city's production income, and lower inflation empire-wide by 1%.

We have an inflation of 17%. So I am looking to place 17 governors.

May 1, 1662 - We promote the mayors to governors in Wewak, Mysore, Jakarta, Malacca, and Bastar - our top five production provinces.

September 1, 1662 - Phuket is revolting.

September 14, 1662, while sailing my explorer to Inhambane, we discover the island of Zanzibar, owned by Oman. Zanzibar is a Center of Trade, so we can send our merchants here.

September 21, 1662 - The Phuket rebellion has ended.

October 27, 1662 - Our inquistion to Irrawady has failed. The people there are revolting against us.

November 21, 1662 - Our explorer, Masrur, has arrived in Inhambane. I order him to begin exploring the areas around us.

November 27, 1662 - We lose a battle against the heretics in Irrawady. We shall regrop in Kwai and drive them into the sea. Or into Arakan.

January 1, 1663 - I order walls built in Colombo to protect our Refinery there.

Governors re to be promoted in Delhi, Maharashtra, Brunei, Makassar, and Kauai.

January 18, 1663 - Our army arrives back in Irrawady to assaul the rebels.

January 25, 1663 - We defeat the rebels. in Irrawady.

August 1, 1663 - Governors are to be promoted from mayors in Viti Levu and Mindoro.

September 1, 1663 - Raipur is rebelling against our rule.

September 26, 1663 - Our army stationed i nBundelkhand has arrived and wiped out the rebellion.

October 8, 1663 - While exploring, Masrur has discoverd Transkei, a pagan province owned by England.

November 22, 1663 - Noble Families Feud in Mataram. I line their pockets with gold and the issue dies.

December 1, 1663 - Bundelkhand rebels! But we put them down in 4 fays.

January 20, 1663 - Governors are to be placed in Colombo, Pondicherry, Bundelkhand, Palembang, and Cochin. That should reduce our inflation to nothing.

March 1, 1664 - Delhi revolts and is defeated in a week.

June 23, 1664 - I order a Missionary sent to Irrawady again.

July 26, 1664 - we have discovered teh Dutch trading post of Antsirana, on the southern tip of Madagascar, Most of the island is uninhabitable.

September 1, 1664 - Our land technology has increased. We can now assault fortresses directly!

September 6, 1664 - Our Royal marriage with Astrakhan has expired. We renew our vows.

December 6, 1664 - Sailing around Madagascar, I have found a possibly inhabitable place on the northern tip. I'll need to come back later and investigate more fully.

December 16, 1664 - The Bourgeoisie are Requesting Privilegse. I grant their requests, lowering our aristcractic policies slightly.

January 26, 1665 - I send Personal Gift to Dai Viet. Our relations are maxed.

February 3, 1665 - I send a Personal Gift to Taungu. Our relations are maxed as well.

February 26, 1665 - Dai Viet have agreed to become our vassals!

November 15, 1666 - We defeat teh natives in battle but many survived. I order my men to chase them down.

December 18, 1666 - Inhambane expands.

December 24, 1666 - We have killed all of the natives in Niassa. I order colonists to the province.

January 1, 1666 - Delhi revolts.

January 2, 1666 - Zambezia expands. I order more colonists there.

January 5, 1666 - Delhi's revolt has ended.

February 2, 1666 - Eire has declared their freedom from Denmark. I contact them and we sign a Trade Agreement.

February 28, 1667 - While saling past, we have discovered Ambovombe - that province on the tip of Madagascar I mentioned earlier. England has a full fledged colony in the province. Nothing for us there.

April 1, 1667 - Raipur revolts.

April 22, 1667 - Raipur's little rebellion is defeated.

May 15, 1667 - Our explored has found two islands off the eastern coast of Madagascar. However, both look to be inhabited by the Dutch.

June 1, 1667 - I send a Missionary to Raipur.

July 1, 1667 - Zambezia expands and I send more colonists.

December 9, 1667 - Our explorer hits the Cape and we have explored up and down the coast of East Africa down to the cape, plsu the Indian Ocean that we had not already explored is mow mapped. I order my explorer back to the Indies and from there, maybe the Pacific or Nort of China, who knows?

January 1, 1668 - Zambezia expands. Mroe settlers leave Bali for the shores of Africa.

January 29, 1668 - We found a colony in Niassa! Excellent.

I order my explorer to do a sail by of Mahe and see if he can't explore the area while he's there.

February 7, 1668 - We discovered Natal, besides Inhambane, as our fleet sails by. Natal is the capital of the Zulus. We enter into a Trade Agreement.

Now that I've found the Zulus, I can expand our merchants into Zanzibar.

March 9, 1668 - We have discovered the country of Zimbabwe, the last East African nation. We sign a Trade Agreement.

June 30, 1668 - Zambezia expands. I send settlers to both Zambezia and Niassa.

August 28, 1669 - Noble Families Feud. I choose to settle the issue with ducats again.

October 6, 1669 - Suspecting that an Austrian trading poost or colony was adjacent to Niassa, I sent my men to find out. Normally, only conquistadors can explore unknown provinces, but during a war, you can explore and enter territory that belongs to the country with which you are at war.

And I was right. Mtawa is the Austrian Trading post above Niassa. And there are 10000 extremely hostile natives there as well. I order my soldiers in to eliminate the Austrian competetion. I also order more soldiers built in Inhambane.

November 13, 1669 - My smaller army arrives in Mtawa and the natives attack. I order a retreat form the natives, back into Niassa. The natives then burn down the Austrian Trading post, being unable to distinguish between one type of invader or another.

And now that the place is free of the Austrain stench, I order colonists to the place. They probably won't take, but it will give me enough time to build an army and force the natives out of Mtawa.

I send a colonist to Zambezia as well.

April 30, 1673 - Our conquistador has discovered Mahe! I order our fleet to Niassa.

706 colonists work the Ivory trade here in Niassa. Adjacent to Zimbabwe, Mtawa and a French Trading post, this port sends us 11 ducats and 18 to Zamzibar. Like the other colonies here, Niassa is experienciing negative growth.

I order a Tax Collector for Niassa.

May 11, 1675 - We have actually lose the battle against the heathens, but we have practically eliminated theri army. All that remains is 200 soldiers, and when I have regrouped, my army will crush them.

June 11, 1675 - Mtawa expands and I send in more colonists.

July 2, 1675 - I now have an interesting option:

Dai Viet have been our vassals for over 10 years now. We have a marriage with them, our relations are maxed, we are in an alliace together and we share a border - all of the requirements of annexation.

Should we offer Dai Viet annexation? If they accpet, we would absorb their 4 provinces. They are not rich provinces - 2 grain, a fish, and naval supplies. And we would have 4 provinces to try to defend.

However, we would share a border with China for future expansions. I could release the Dai Viet provinces as vassal states. I beleive that at least two, maybe three states could be made.

And we might make the world mad at as enough to go to war with us.

I decline to decline the opportunity to annex Dai Viet.

Xang Jai: July 21, 1642 - December 28, 1680
Kaeoki: December 28, 1680 - ???

As his predecessor before him, Xang Jai had scoured the country for a sucessor. I was his leading candiate, but he thought he had time to continue his search. However, yesterday, Xang collapsed. The doctors have diagnosed with one of the illnesses is mother had. He is incapacitated. As such, I take over, despite my youth an inexperience.

I am only 15. My family were among the natives of Tahiti that joined Mataram. And now I am Regent of the empire. My family and home province must be proud.

Not that I've seen them in a few years. Xang Jai brought me to Bali, and I have toured the empire with him. I have seen SE Asia, India and Indonesia. I still have not seen Australia, Africa, or the new provinces up north.

I will now.

My sense of Mataram's history is very weak. As such, I recognize my sucessor, but except for Xang, I do not know much about them. My training on the current sttaus of Mataram is complete, but not on her history. Anyways, I intend on following through with a few new goals if mine:

1). Colonize the north completely.

2). Continue to convert the people to Hinduism.

3). Rid ourselves of burdensome vassals we do not want to annex. If we wanted to annex Taungu and Dai Viet, I have no doubt that we could - they would agree to such a thing. But they add noting to our empire. Jettison this weighty alliance when it runs it course andlet them move on. Keep them as vassals for their wealth and alliegence. But find more deserving allies.

4). Capture Ganges. A Hindu Center of Trade under Sunni rule? How have we not acted before to take it? In fact, all of Begal is under Sunni rule. Liberate them if possible. Also the Sikh provinces in Mughal territory should be liberated.

5). Unify the Indian peninsula. Vijaynagar should no longer exist.

Essentially, I want to hold every Hindu province in the world. All Hindus united under one flag!

Our flag.

No thanks, Songhai.

December 1, 1683 - The revolters in Tirhut have defected to Bengal. I would have preferred them to have defected to Mataram. However, Tirhut is Sunni and Bengali, so defecting to a country that is both makes sense for them.

December 10, 1683 - We have founded a colony in Nagorje!

I order a trading post in Kamcatka.

January 1, 1684 - Our land technology has advanced.

February 2, 1684 - With the Refinery complete, I order walls built in Viti Levu.

September 26, 1684 - I order a trader sent to Kamcatka this time.

October 1, 1684 - Dedicated investments to military technology have paid off. Our land technology has increased. We now have gunpowder and our infantry are equipped with arquebuses (arquebusi?)!

March 14, 1685 - Cambodia revolts when our Missionary failed to convert the populace. I had stationed our army here just in case of this event.

April 2, 1685 - We crush the heretics.

April 10, 1685 - Another State Gift to Annam enormously improves our relations with them.

July 15, 1685 - Our colonists to Sredny Hrebet have failed. No native uprising, though.

April 2, 1686 - A year has almost passed since my last entry. Mughal rebellions are is bigger force now. I am still hoping for more Sikh Rebellions.

I send a colonist to Sredny Hrebet, another to Nagorje, and a Trader to Tchumkan.

April 30, 1686 - The rebels have captured Panjab.

May 1, 1686 - Awadh has also defected - to Bengal. So, in a little over a year Bengal has expanded its territory by 50%.

I don't want Awadh and Tirhut enough to win them in war. That will make Bengal a little tougher.

June 1, 1686 - The revolters in Nelma, previously owned by Manchu, have thrown off their ties to Manchu and joined our realm!

Nelma:

43888 people of Manchu descent and Konfucian beliefs work the iron mines here in Nelma. This mountainous port is south of Vanin. She sends us 25 ducats annualy and 15 to Kansai.

Nelma does not experience nationalism, but because we currently treat Konfucians harshly in Mataram, she is prone to revolts.

Therefore I issue our own edict of tolerance. I raise and lower the four religions of my empire to about even. Hindu and Muslem and Konfucian and Buddhist are alkl treated equally. Now Christians, on the other hand, are abused.

After my edict, Nelma's revolt risk is zero. However, sending a missionary here is my hjighest priority. Before we send a missionary, however, I want to make the province a little better. I order a governor.

July 6, 1686 - Our governor in Nelma is built. I order a Chief Justice to be placed here.

August 9, 1686 - A Trading Post has been placed in Tchumkan.

I order another in Chelekov.

August 24, 1686 - Nagorje expands.

September 16, 1686 - Our colonization attempt to Sredny Hrebet has failed. For now, I am going to concentrate on filling up Trading Posts along the coast, then on expanding Nagorje.

November 1, 1686 - The Mughals have recaptured Panjab.

November 15, 1686 - What is my goal? Bengal, or try for Annam? Annam is currently outside of an alliance. I could start one with them and woo their vassalage.

Or continue to try for Bengal? But Bengal has not been getting into any wars, so I cannot join that alliance.

I deicde to start entreating Annam now, and wait for the alliance as long as possible.

Annam and Mataram enter into a Royal Marriage.

May 25, 1689 - Bengal agrees to a Royal Marriage with Mataram.

June 29, 1689 - Since we have a Royal marriage with Bengal, I spend some ducats and a diplomat and I "Claim Their Throne." Our relations with Bengal plummet, our stability has dropped by half, but we have a Casus Belli against Bengal for three years.

July 18, 1689 - I order troops built all over India. Vijaynagar could join forces with Bengal in the war, and we need to be prepared.

August 18, 1689 - Nagorje expands. I order more colonists sent there.

September 9, 1689 - Our Royal Marriage with Astrakhan has expired.

December 24, 1689 - Nagorje expands and the natives join her.

Nagorje:

3613 people work this frontier post. Located in the interior of the area, Nagorje's people works the fur trade. They send 10 ducats to us and 9 to Kansai.

I order a Tax Collector built in Nagorje.

February 1, 1690 - Our stability has increased.

June 30, 1690 - I send colonists to Khreset to Nerchiinsk for a Trading Post.

September 1, 1690 - Our stability has increases.

Spetmber 9, 1690 - Vijaynagar and Mataram have entered into a Royal Marriage.

November 2, 1690 - Khretset expands and we establish a Trading Post in Nerchiinsk.

I order more colonists to Khretset.

December 10, 1690 - I send a State Gift to Vijaynagar, raising our relations enormously. I raise our Naval and Army maintenance to 100%.

I intend to enter war of May 1, 1691, when our stability should increase again.

March 3, 1691 - I send a trader to open a post in Chilka.

March 14, 1691 - Khretset expands.

March 28, 1691- Our Inquisition in Makassar has failed and the heatens are revolting.

April 1, 1691 - Our stability increased a month early. Momentarily, we shall declare wasr on Bengal.

April 4, 1691 - We have Established Cantonments in Palawan and the manpower there increases.

April 19, 1691 - We have put down the rebels in Makassar.

I review our preparations for war:

Our main target is Bengal. Bengal has six provinces. Tirhut and Awadh are above our own country and are spread out. An assault to Bihar and Koch will cut them off. An assault to Tirhut will cut off Awadh.

Beside our province of Santal are Koch to the north, Ganges to the south, and Howrah. Take Howrah and Ganges is cut off from the rest.

The capital of Bihar in above Sambalpur and Raipur. Take the capital and we gain a very impressive bargaining position.

We cannot take too much land, however. Bad for our reputation.

Bengal has 10500 troops in Awadh. They must be exterminated in the first blow or else they become a harassing force behind our lines.

Only 5000 men protect Bihar. That becomes our secondary target.

4000 troops are in Ganges. Ganges, of course, is our primary target. Take Ganges and Bihar and the war could be over right there.

Koch and Tirhut are devoid of a military presence. The real problem is Howrah with its 24700 troops and only Santal can quickly strike. As such, I anticipate Bengal moving all of her troops in Howrah and Ganges into Santal and attacking us. Very possible.

To fight Bengal, we have 17000 calvary in Raipur. This unit will strike at Bihar, destroy the troops there, and then quickly move where needed. If needed nowhere, I will bring up the 84 cannon from Gondwana and the cannon/calvary will besige Bihur.

In Bundelkhand we have 10900 calvary and 13100 infantry. These soldiers are to destroy the Awadh force. Once that is complete, they will march into Tirhut, then Koch. From there they can alleviate pressure on Santal by entering Santal or heading to Howrah, as needed. They can also march to Bihar if there is a problem.

In Santal we have 31000 infantry and 5800 calvary. Santal, Howrah and Ganges are all swamps - calvary won't be of much use here. I will have to hold my troops in Santal until the coast is clear, then march to Ganges, Howrah, Koch or Chin or Tarakan in Arakan.

The country of Arakan is our next problem. I expect that Arakan will join Bengal in war against us. Their capital of Tarakan has 33000 troops in it. I only have 11000 in Irrawady. Ideally, the Arakani forces will march towards Irrawady. However, if Santal is their destination, then I can hit Arakan from behind. My goal is not to overrun Arakan, but to keep them busy and away from Bengal, and hence the enticing target in Irrawady.

Because I have been courting them, I expect Vijaynagar will dishonor their alliace, but if they don't, I will also be at war with them. Vijaynagar has as astouding 53000 troops in their capital, but the other provinces are defenseless. I have 29000 troops in Hyderabad and 7000 in Mysore. My goal is to split up the Vijaynagar army and take them on in pieces. Both Yanam and Mangalore have the smallest possible fortresses. I will march both of my armies into these provinces and force Vijaynagr to choose which to defend. If they split their forces, then the battle is on more even ground.

Again, I expect Vijaynagar to dishonor their alliace. And if they do, then I can use the army in Hyderabad as a reserve army against Bengal, should something go wrong.

April 28, 1691 - We declare war against Bengal.

The Second Mataram-Bengali War, 1691-1692

April 28, 1691 - It turns out that the Bengal/Arakan/Vijaynagar alliance has just expired and they have not renewed it! Hence, a strike at Bengal now will be just against them!

We lose some stability for declaring war on a country we have a Royal marriage with, and now we are at war with the tiger.

I order my troops in Bundelkhand into Awadh. My calvary in Raipur is ordered to the Bengal capital of Bihar. And I will march my Arakan troops to Howrah.

I order my reserve troops in Hyderabad to Sambalpur.

May 8, 1691 - Our calvary has arrived in Bihar and battle has begun.

The Mughal-Mataram War of 1695-1698

October 17, 1695 - At war with the Mughals, I would like to capture and claim Chandigarh, and maybe Bikaner, but probably not.

I have 21000 infantry and 14500 calvary stationed in Delhi. I order my cannons to Delhi, which is nigh unassailable.

I dispatch 10000 infantry to Chandigarh to eliminate the Mughal threat there.

November 2, 1695 - Our troops arrive in Chandigarh and assult the Mughal forces arrayed here.

December 12, 1695 - We defeat the Mughals in Chandigarh and the siege has begun. I order all 76 cannon and 5000 infantry to Chandigarh.

December 24, 1695 - Singh arrives with his Punjab army. I retrest back into Delhi. I can't compete with Singh for the siege - Punjab will automatically capture any province we are both besieging due to Singh's presence.

January 10, 1695 - I order 20000 men, 7000 calvary and 13000 infantry into Bikaner.

January 25, 1695 - We have arrived in Bikaner.

February 1, 1696 - The Mughals in Bikaner are defeated. I leave behind a covering force and march deeper into Mughal territory.

February 15, 1696 - We arrive in Thar. I leave behind a covering force and order my soldiers to Quetta, where a Mughal army awaits.

March 4, 1696 - Sredny Hrebet expands. I order more colonists in.

I also order another 8000 infantry from Delhi to reinforce our pillaging army in Mughal territory.

March 24, 1696 - Our Inquisition to Malwa has suceeded and the people there have converted back to Hinduism!

April 7, 1696 - The Mughals are fragmenting. Afganistan and Mameluk territory cuts off northern Empire from southern Empire. Punjab cuts of Chandigarh.

And so forth.

They are ripe for conquest in the south.

May 10, 1696 - Regulation of the Medica Profession has increased the population in Selatn by 1500.

May 15, 1696 - We are winning many sorties against the Mughals. It's time for an assault. I order my harassing army to Indus.

June 1, 1696 - Our army has arrived in Indus and is engaged with the Mughal troops there.

June 6, 1696 - The enemy forces in Indus have been defeatd and the siege begins.

July 30, 1696 - Sredny Hrebet has expanded and the 5000 natives there have joined us.

Sredny Hrebet:

5619 people fish here in the middle of Kamchatka. This mountain colony sends us 15 ducats and 5 to Kansai.

I order a Tax Collector in Sredny Hrebet.

I order colonists sent to Amour and traders to Mogotcha.

August 24, 1696 - I order 21000 infnatry from Delhi to Bikaner.

September 9, 1696 - Our troops have arrived in Bikaner and I order an assault of the fortress.

October 6, 1696 - We have captured Bikaner!

I order our army to Indus.

December 2, 1696 - We fail to put a Post in Mogotcha.

February 10, 1697 - The Mughals keep sending in forces to Indus, and I can't order an assault. I need a force behind Indus to keep the Mugahls busy. I order my 7600 calvary from Delhi into the Mughal lands.

March 1, 1697 - The Mughals have their own leader - Zulfikar Khan, in Quetta.

April 5, 1697 - After defating four Mughals armies all simultaneously, the Empire sends us a peace offer for 350 ducats. I decline.

April 26, 1697 - Our Inquisition in Raipur has failed and the Sunnis are revolting.

May 26, 1697 - The Mughals keep trowing troops at us. We have to retreat from Indus into Kutch.

June 30, 1697 - Our calvary have caught up to Khan's fleeing troops and have wiped them out, including him!

July 2, 1697 - This time the Mughals offer us 425 ducats for peace. I again refuse.

July 14, 1697 - More of our trrops arrive in Indus. I order my defeated troops back in from Gujarat territory.

July 22, 1697 - Our Royal Marriage with Songhai has expired.

August 4, 1697 - We hve defeated the Mughals in Indus and driven them back.

August 7, 1697 - I order an assault on Indus.

September 6, 1697 - Our assault has failed and we continue to seige the city.

November 1, 1697 - Reinforcements have arrived and I order another siege on Indus.

November 9, 1697 - Raipur falls to rebels.

December 4, 1697 - We have caputered Indus!

I send a peace envoy to the Mughals. I want Bikaner and Indus, but I cannot demand them both without creating a massive war because my reputation will fall. So, I can only demand one.

Now, you might think the correct move here is to take Bikaner. It's a cloth prvince adjacent to Delhi and only next to one Mughal prvince, thus allowsing some degree of safety.

However, Indus is very attractive. It's much more wealthy, and it is the only Mughal port. Cutting them off from the sea would be very valuable.

In addition to its wealth and srategic value, Indus provides two more benefits. Bikaner might fall to Punjab, which we can then annex someday.

And Indus is the farthest I want to extend westward. Indus and either Thar or Quetta makes a two province line that creates an attractive western boundary for Mataram. I can't imagine Mataram ever going past that boundary for the poor provinces out there. Indus is about as far as it goes.

Plus, in a later war, I can alway take Bikaner back, it was easy. Indus was the harder province to capture.

So, for us to draw trhe line against further expansion, I demand Indus and 100 ducats.

The Mughal Empire accepts

Indus:

114819 people here work the salt trade i the port of Indus. Currently experiencing nationalism, the people here are Sunni and of Gujarati culture. They send us 34 ducats and 33 to Kutch.

I order a governor placed here.

I order colonists to Amour and a trader to Mogotcha. Both failed during the war.

Sitting beside the Manchu province of Sikhote, the forst of Sofiisk makes a ideal place to export naval supplies. The 1653 people here send us 9 ducats and ship 3 to Kansai.

I order a Tax Collector here.

I also order a Tax Collector to Kalar while I am thinking about it.

That's a lot of troops. I decide to demand Taiwan from the Chinese for peace.

They accept our offer.

Taiwan:

An island port of the coast of China, Taiwan has 2596 people who are of Han culture and Konfucian. Currently experiencing nationalism, the people here work Chinaware and send us 17 ducats while shipping 31 to Shanghai in trade. Taiwan has a level 3 fortress.

Kaeoki: December 28, 1680 - December 30, 1718
Jerton Tavatja: December 30, 1718 - ???

My name is Jerton. My family were among those sent to settle East Africa. As they blended into the area, they gave me a name from a local. I am full blooded Indonesian, originally from Brunei.

I am taking over the Regency on the eve of its 300 year anniversary. Imagine. 300 years ago Mataram was a tiny little country in the Indies. They had yet to be united, colonized. India was a nation of splintered and warring states. Malaysia and SE Asia was a mass of small and bitter nations. Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea were unknown to the world. Kamchatka, Alaska, Hawaii, Tahiti, the Siberian Corridor, Fiji. We have gone places no one else has entered. Our seed is from Inhambane, our eastern most province, all the way to Yukon, our westernmost province.

We have come so far.

Here are my goals for Mataram. These are not goals like my predecessors, however. They each had goals for their own tenure. Or maybe for the short/middle term.

These are the borders of Mataram's glory. They are what we shall be content with.

1). Have the entire Hindu realm under Mataram's flag. Bengal still has Hindus under Sunni subjectation. That will end. Vijaynagar, Orissa, Punjab, Jodhpur and Gujarat must be made to see that Mataram is the proper place for Hindus. Those who do not agree with us politically and rally behind our flag will do so by force, if need be.

2). Close our borders by consolidating all territory currently within them. We have North and South India, but we are cut off by Vijaynagar. We must take Vijaynagar. Likewise, our provinces of Santal, Koch, and Ganges are cut off from Irrawady and SE Asia by Arakan. Arakan, therefore, must also fall. From Indus, we must take the teo Mughal provinces of Thar and Bikaner. From there, everything inside the lines drawn by Mataram's exterior borders must be consolidated under Matarami rule. That is, all of India.

3). Extend our SE Asian provinces. This is not a high priority, but we must conquer all of SE Asia so that we can properly convert them away from Buddhism and to Hinduism.

4). Convert all non-Hindu provinces in Mataram.

5). If at war with China again, look to capture the islands of Hainan, off the China shore, or Ezochi, above Nippon and captured from them ages ago. Or Kansai, the Nipponese province controlled by China these long years.

6). Continue to expand colonially in the area I am now naming "The Northern Reaches." We have been referring to it as the Siberian Corridor, Kamchatka, and the area above Machu, combined. Now, we will refer to it as The Northern Reaches. We are the only powere there, so this is only a matter of time before we have it all under Mataram's control.

7). If an opportunity invites itself, expand in East Africa. If we happen to get into a war with a European power, for example, then we will take their Trading Posts/Colonies in East Africa. War and the annexation of Zimbabwe also is an interesting possibility.

As I have said before, these are not the goals for my lifetime, but are the new goals for all of Mataram Eternal. I will be happy should we fulfill just one in my lifetime.

October 15, 1720 - I send a State Gift to Taungu. Our relations improve tremendously.

November 28, 1720 - China has declared war upon me. Annam and Vientiane were in an alliance with China. Both join China.

I do not call upon Orissa for aid.

November 29, 1720 - We have discovered Nefedova.

Since I am at war with three powers, I decide to look to see what provinces I want.

Veintiane has a nice province - Da Nang, thei capital. I order my forces to Annam's two province country. I want to capture both of their provinces, then force-vassalize them.

The only province of value in Vientiane is Lao Cai, a Tea province adjacent to China. However, it is so far away, that I can hardly see myself taking it. Nor would it be in Mataram's interests to do so.

That means that there is noting in Vientiane that I want, and nothing in Annam that I can take this go around.

What can China offer me? As I mentioned before, the islnds of Hainan and Ezochi are nice. They are easy to defend, unlike most Chinese provinces which would be near a major outlet of Chinese soldiers. However, both are relatively poor islands.

Another option is to assault Kansai in Nippon. It is owned by China, plus it's a wealthy Center of Trade. Taking it would make us the bane of Nippon. But it is wealthy.

For now, I order soldiers built and fleets moved.

November 29, 1720 - We have discovered Nefedova, but are attacked by the natives. I order my men to kill the natives and keep moving.

January 10, 1721 - We have discovered Demjanskoje.

February 4, 1721 - The first battle has begun. Our fleet beside Vanin is under attack by the Chinese.

February 8, 1721 - We turn away the Chnese warships.

February 15, 1721 - 29600 infantry and 8900 calvary of ours have arrived in the Annam capital of Da Nang where 16000 Annamese troops immediately attack us.

February 28, 1721 - We have discovreed Mansijisk.

March 21, 1721 - We defeat Annam in Da Nang. I order our trrops to assault the fortress.

April 20, 1721 - We have captured Da Nang!

April 22, 1721 - Vientiane has offered us a white peace. I have nothing to gain from war with Vientiane, so I agree.

May 4, 1721 - We have discovered Sergino and the natives there are attacking us. I order a retreat.

May 6, 1721 - Annam's remaining forces have attacked us in Da Nang.

May 13, 1721 - We defeat the Annam forces.

May 19, 1721 - China is attacking us in Santal.

May 22, 1721 - More Chinese forces have unloaded into Santal.

June 23, 1721 - The Chinese in Indus have been destroyed.

July 1, 1721 - Chinese forces have arrived in Irrawady. I have forces in Kwai ready to strike if they should assault Irrawady.

August 8, 1721 - Our forces have arrived in Da Lat, the other Annam province.

August 21, 1721 - We mop up Annam forces in Da Lat and I order an assault.

September 14, 1721 - Our assault on Da Lat fails and I order more infantry to the province.

We have won several skirmishes in Indus, Santal, and the Taiwan Strait.

October 4, 1721 - China offers us peace for 220 ducats, which I would gladly take expect we have yet to capture Da Lat.

November 7, 1721 - 22000 morre soldiers arrive in Da lat and I order another assault on the fortress.

December 13, 1721 - Despite 4:1 odds, our assault has failed.

January 1, 1722 - The peasants of Panjab are revolting.

January 25, 1722 - England offers us a tarde Agreement. I take it.

February 5, 1722 - The rebels in Panjab have been turned away.

March 10, 1722 - I order another assault in Da Lat.

April 5, 1722 - We have taken Da Nat. Excellent. I dispatch a diplomat to Annam demanding vassalization.

Annam is forced to accaept.

I send an offer of white peace to China but they have declined.

April 22, 1722 - China has defeated by armies in Nelma and they have begun besieging the province.

May 24, 1722 - I send out colonists to Enkan, Buriat and Kolyma to see if any take. They are the Gold and Copper province in the Northern Reaches where we have Trading Posts.

June 1, 1722 - Our land technology has increased.

September 1, 1722 - Taiwan is rebelling.

September 19, 1722 - I catch 150 Chinese cannon in Irrawady. Battle begins.

October 10, 1722 - Rebels in Taiwan are defeated.

October 11, 1722 - Chinese forces in Irrawady are defeated and retreat back to Bago.

November 12, 1722 - We have founded a colony in Kolyma! Eknan and Buriat colonization attempts have failed, however. I order colonists to Kolyma.

January 1, 1723 - China again rejects our offer of a white peace. Fine, then I'll take land. I order my forces into Bago.

January 27, 1723 - Our 46000 men arrive in Bago and attack the 36000 Chinese stationed there. Bloody battle begins.

February 1, 1723 - Losing the battle, China offers us 300 ducats for peaec. I take their money.

Ajeh are rebelling.

The Second Mataram-England War

April 16, 1743 - England, for some reason, has declared war upon us. Maybe they want our Alaskan colonies, I don't know.

Ideally, we could get Nahalem, their Center of Trade. I doubt it, though.

I order my troops in Yukon into Nanaimo, an English Trading Post.

I also order troops built in Oahu and Kauai (Yukon cannot build men) and lauch my fleet from the Yukon and move them down the coast.

Soldiers and boats in the Yukon?

After all, you should be prepared for evey eventuality, even one this absurd.

June 1, 1743 - Our naval technology has increased. We can now build shipyards. Which was exactly what I was saving my ducats for.

I order a Shipyard built in Luzon.

This will allow us to build up to 10 ships at one time, plus it will add a colonist a year to our fold.

Excellent.

July 4, 1743 - Our troops have entered Nanaimo - an English Trading Post. Natives there have attacked us. I could retreat and let the natives burn down the post, but, for now, I want to keep the post intact. We can always burn it down later. So I order my men to kill the natives.

July 21, 1743 - The natives have been killed and we have captured the British Trading Post.

August 21, 1743 - While we were not looking, England has annexed our neighbors in Eastern Africa - Xhosa. Using troops formerally Xhosan, they are attacking Inhambane!

August 23, 1743 - Tomask has again failed to take hold I order more colonists to Tomsk, and also some to Ob.

August 24, 1743 - The Englaish are attacking our fleet off the Coast of Natal, in East Africa.

August 29, 1743 - With two of our galleys aleady sunk, I order my fleet into Zambezia herbor.

September 10, 1743 - We have captured Columbia, a British Trading Post.

I march our troops into Nahalem.

September 14, 1743 - I order our troops in Inhambane to retreat to Zambezia.

Fearing that this war will not go as planned, I order the Trading Post at Columbia burned down.

September 27, 1743 - Battle in the Coast of Columbia has begun.

England just kicks us from end to end technologically. This war does not look good for us abroad.

October 7, 1743 - Our forces have arrived in Nehalem.

October 19, 1743 - We have won a battle against the British naval forces in teh Coast of COlumbia.

October 20, 1743 - We have found a British ship in the South pacific and are initiating battle there as well.

November 3, 1743 - We lose a battle off the Coast of Natal.

November 3, 1743 - Our fleet has sunk the British warship in the South Pacific.

January 6, 1744 - Several skirmishes later I have loaded some troops on my galleys off Africa and are taking them to the British colony of Ambovombe. I ca only hope that they have left the province unguarded.

I order walls built in Tahiti.

January 21, 1744 - England has landed armies in Indus. Why do people keep insisiting on attacking Mataram there?

February 5, 1744 - We have founded a colony in Ob! However, we have failed to do so in Tomsk. Again.

I order more colonists to Ob.

February 7, 1744 - More British armies have landed in Indus.

March 1, 1744 - We have captured Ambovombe!

April 24, 1744 - Indus is again under assault by the British.

April 29, 1744 - We have again repelled the British from our shores in Indus.

May 9, 1744 - Forces from Hawaii have landed in Nehalem. I order an assault on the city.

May 12, 1744 - More British forces have landed in Indus. Will they ever learn?

May 26, 1744 - British forces in Indus have learned their lesson. Maybe.

June 3, 1744 - We have captured Nehalem. Excellent.

In offering peace, Nehalem is too valuable for us to demand. I order my troops deeper into English territory.

For the first time in this war, we are the ones in the lead. The British have definaelty won more battle against us, but we have captured two provinces of theirs while they have not captured one of ours. Their siege of Inhambane goes poorly.

June 24, 1744 - Our colonization of Ob has failed.

July 7, 1744 - We have captured their Trading Post in Oregon.

August 14, 1`744 - A renewed attempt by England to capture Inhambane appears to be taking place.

August 21, 1744 - Another assault in Indus.

August 27, 1744 - We have driven the English back in Indus.

September 3, 1744 - I send a trader to Columbia, recently burned.

October 10, 1744 - England is now atacking us in Irrawady.

England, why not assault us in Kwai, or Malacca, or anywhere in the Indies, where we have no troops stationed?

November 4, 1744 - The English have been repelled from our shores in Irrawady.

January 14, 1745 - Our attempt to convert the masses in Irrawady has faile dnad revelution is occuring there.

January 28, 1745 - Rebels in Irrawady have been crushed underfoot.

February 1, 1745 - England has offered us peace and 275 ducats to take it. The question is, do I take it?

I could probably demand Ambovombe and get it. A wealthy province in Africa with a posititve growth would be a nice addition.

I could also continue to try for Nahelm. But honestly, Nehalem and Ambovombe are both Catholic, and even getting England to offer coin is good enough.

Before taking their offer, I brun down the Trading Posts in Nanaimo and Oregon. I order traders to Nanaimo.

Bringing it Under Control

May 15, 1745 - Our attempt to set up a Trading Post in Columbia has failed despite 4/5 odds of it setting. I order another trader to the province.

May 18, 1745 - I order a Goods Manufactory in Khandesh.

Our relations with Taungu increased drastically. With Dai Viet they are maxed.

October 19, 1745 - We have established a Trading Post at Nanaimo.

January 26, 1746 - We have established a Trading Post in Columbia. I sende out colonists to send one to Oregon, since England has yet to recolonize the province.

February 26, 1746 - We have discovered the Straits of Magellan. We now know the basic layout of the Americas.

June 4, 1746 - We have developed a Great Reputation and our relations with China, Zimbabwe, Mughal Empire, Afghanistan and Tibet have increased slightly.

September 30 - We have established a Trading Post in Oregon. I order colonists to Columbia and Ob.

October 1, 1746 - Our naval technology has increased.

January 19, 1747 - Our attempt to convert the Buddhists in Da Lat has failed and they are rebelling.

February 15, 1747 - Our colonization attempt to Ob has failed. If Ob fails, I suppose I'll go back to trying to settle Tomsk. I order more colonists to Tomsk.

March 11, 1747 - Our Inquisition in Da Nanag has also failed and the peasants are rebelling.

March 29, 1747 - The rebels in Da Nang are eliminated.

April 1, 1747 - Our trade technology has advanced and our merchants now generate more income from trading centers.

Mataram sends two Missionaries, one eaach to the former Annam provinces of Da Lat and Da Nang.

May 4, 1747 - Heretics rebelling in Da Lat were slaughtered.

May 19, 1747 - Internal Tax Ordinanced have hjelped the mountainous province of Surabaja open up more roads, thus increasing the tax value there.

June 11, 1747 - We have founded a colony in Columbia! I order more colonists to the fur trading area.

August 1, 1747 - France has burned down the Austrian Trading Post in Olympia and established their own.

August 8, 1747 - We have founded a colony in Tomsk! Finally. I order more colonists in.

December 5, 1747 - We have, again, failed to colonize Tomsk. We supposedly have a 7 in 10 chance of getting this second wave of colonists to take, let's see if we can't actually see that through.

January 9, 1748 - Messaud, our explorer, has died after exploring th entire American coast.

January 10, 1748 - Our colonizatin attempt to Columbia has failed. Again despite odds HEAVILY IN OUR FAVOR. I am starting to become angry. I order in more colonists.

April 6, 1748 - Tomsk expands and more settlers are dispatched.

August 7, 1748 - Tomsk expands, and more colonists are sent.

In Columbia, we have over 80% odds. AND YET WE FAIL AGAIN. I send more colonists in with the threat of death if they fail Mataram.

November 29, 1748 - Chance of Tomsk expanding - 75% Yet, failure strikes again.

I have cut the head off our Minister of Colonization and promoted his lieutanent.

More colonists are sent to Tomsk.

March 2, 1749 - This time, Columbia expands. Additional settlers are shipped out.

March 5, 1749 - We have failed to convert the Konfucians in Taiwan and they are rebelling.

I send another Missionary to the island.

March 13, 1749 - Heretical rebels in Taiwan have been disposed of.

April 11, 1749 - Obviously, our new Minister of COlonization got the hint. Tomsk expands and he gets to keep his job. As wll as his head.

June 1, 1749 - More colonists set sail from Bali harbor to Tomsk.

September 27, 1749 - Columbia and Tomsk expand. I ship what will hopefully be one last wave of colonists to Tomsk.

October 2, 1749 - An anonymous Gift to the State of 400 ducats has occured.

December 1, 1749 - More settlers leave for Columbia.

December 17, 1749 - Mataram has a new Monarch - Pakubuwana III. Our new Monarch is average at diplomacy and administration, while poor in war.

January 30, 1750 - Tomsk expands and with the native help, becomes a full province.

Tomsk:

1105 people work the fur trade here. Tomsk is west of Krasnoyarsk and southwest of Angara. Mataram gets 14 ducats from Tomsk while 7 are sent to Ganges.

I order a Tax Collector sent to Tomsk.

The Sikh states are fully integrated, and there shouldn't be any more rebellions from them. Indus has been pacified long ago. As has Taiwan.

That leaves us Odisa, Da Lat and Da nang as our only provinces currently experiencing occasional revolts.

Moving Into a New Era

April 1, 1750 - I order a Goods Manufactory in Bundelkhand.

April 12, 1750 - Tibet has annexed Assam.

May 8, 1750 - I send a State Gift to Tibet. Our relations have improved tremendously.

June 12, 1750 - Tibet and Mataram enter into a Royal Marriage.

June 27, 1750 - Columbia expands. We dispatch more colonists to the province.

January 26, 1751 - Columbia expands and more settlers are enroute.

March 14, 1751 - Another failed attempt to convert the heretics in Cambodia.

March 23, 1751 - A wonderful thing has happened today! We have had a Boundary Dispute with Bengal. I have chosen to Press the Issue. We gain a Casus Belli against Bengal for 5 years! Our stability also drops, and we'll need to repair that.

I don't know whether or not we'll use the CB, but I suspect that we will.

April 25, 1751 - The rebels in Cambodia have been destroyed.

August 21, 1751 - Columbia has again expanded. More colonists set sail from Bali's harbor.

September 6, 1751 - I have decided to set up Trading Posts all throughout the Northern Reaches. Today I have sent our traders to Barabinsk, Demianka, and Balakhta.

November 1, 1751 - Our stabilty increased back up.

Odisa is rebelling.

November 24, 1751 - We have defeated Bengali rebels in Odisa.

January 27, 1752 - We have established Trading Posts in Demianka and Barabinsk, but not in Balakhta.

March 21, 1752 - Columbia has expanded and become a small city.

Columbia:

A small fur trading province above Nehalem and below Olympia, the 727 people of this port send us 15 ducats and create 7 in Nehalem in trade.

I order a Tax Collector placed in Columbia.

I send traders to Irtych and Altai.

April 1, 1752 - We now a have Goods Manufactory in Bundelkhand.

June 23, 1752 - Corruption in our government has increased inflation 10%. To combat this, I order governors placed in:

The Northern Reaches:

Krasnoyarsk, Kalar and Vanin

In Indies:

Riau, Bandung, Sumbawa, Flores, Sulawesi

In India:

Gondwana, Berhampur

August 1, 1752 - We still have 1% corruption after all of the governors have been placed, so I send an additional one to Yukon.

August 16, 1752 - We have failed to set up Trading Posts in both Irtych and Altai.

I order colonists to Niassa, which has 705 colonists and declining.

September 8, 1752 - The natives in Ob have attacked our colony there and damaged the settlement.

I order troops built in Angara.

October 25, 1752 - Colonists have been ordered to Irtych.

December 12, 1752 - Niassa expands.

January 11, 1753 - Colonists are dispatched to Altai.

April 16, 1753 - Irtych colonists do not take.

June 14 - 1753 - Colonization to Altai has again failed.

July 12, 1753 - I order another trader to Irtych.

September 8, 1753 - Cantonments have been established in Amgoun, thus increasing the manpower there.

I order walls built in Columbia.

December 7, 1753 - We have established a Trading Post in Irtych. I order colonists to the Copper Mines of Semipalatinsk and traders to Tchany.

December 27, 1753 - I send Russia a State Gift. Our relations improve somewhat.

January 27, 1754 - I send another State Gift to Russia. Our relations have enormously improved.

May 7, 1754 - We have established a Trading Post in Tchany.

May 19, 1754 - Mataram has founded a colony in Semipalatinsk. Since we are adjacent to Russia here, I have decide to try and develop Semipalatinsk as quickly as possible. I order in more colonists.

June 4, 1754 - Russia has invited us to join their alliance with Saxony. They are at war with Sibir and the Ottomans.

Since Sibir is now just a one province state, I have no compunction gong to war with them. And we are far removed for the Ottomans and their troops.

So, basically, the question is, do I want to join an alliance with Russia? They will wage war, I am sure, against the mightiest nations in Europe. However, while Russia is next to us, they might strike at any tim,e at our colonies here. Russia has a permanent Casus Belli against us becuase they have a legitmate claim to the land of some of our colonies.

Therefore, an alliance with Russia would keep them off our back, at least for a while, when we would have enough time set up our defenses.

Yet, I am certain that if we were to dlcare war upon Bengal during our alliance, I am sure that Russia would dishonor our alliance, and hurt our relations.

So, what to do? What is Mataram's priority?

The Third Mataram-Bengal War

So, what do I do? Declare war on Bengal. Both Vijaynagar and Arakan have joind Bengal.

Then accept Russia's offer.

I order my troops from Irrawady into Tarakan, the capital of Arakan.

I order 22000 troops from Odisa into Bihar, the capital of Bengal.

The 28000 troops from Delhi are ordered into Awadh.

The 45000 troops from Indus are sent over to Maharashtra. It will tke a while to get there, and Vijaynagar may have begun attacking our lands by then.

Troops from Da Nang are sent to Irrawady.

And more troops are ordered immediately.

June 19, 1754 - The first blows of the war have begun as our troops arrive in Bihar and assault the guards there.

June 22, 1754 - We have crushed the Bengali troops and initiated a siege in Bihar.

June 23, 1754 - Jodhpur has joined her master, Vijaynagar, and declared war upon us!

I do not call upon my allies. I divert my troops in Indus to Rajputana, the province of Jodhpur.

June 26, 1754 - Our forces from Irrawady have arrived in Tarakan and the Battle for Arakan Independance has begun.

The forces are evenly matched, but we have a slight technology bonus and a significant morale bonus.

July 9, 1754 - The Arakan forces in tarakan have been defeated but 20000 have escaped.

I oder my troops in Tarakan into Chin, where I suspect the Arakan army is fleeing.

July 14, 1754 - Our forces from Indus have arrived in Rajputana, the province of Jodhpur. Battle has begun.

July 21, 1754 - Jodhpur forces have been eliminated. Siege would begin, but Rajputana is a dester and our troops will be suffering from major attrition. I order our troops to move onward to Maharashtra.

August 1, 1754 - We have chased the Arakan troops into Chin and battle has begun.

August 23, 1754 - We defeat the Arakan forces in Chin but about 16000 of their troops survived. I order my infantry from Santal into China.

August 24, 1754 - Both Arakan and Jodhopur have sent us peace envoys. I laugh. I am not after peace, especially not for Jodhpur.

I intend to annex Jodhpur. See, I have keeping close track as the years have passed. I knew where I was diplomatically, reputaion wise. And I know how far I can go in this war. And I believe that I can annex Jodhpur, plus maybe take a province or two from Bengal.

The annexation of Jodhpur would take away the only vassal of Vijaynagar, thus allowing them to be vassalized.

So, my goal is to take Jodhpur, annex them, then vassalize, either by force or diplomatically, Vijaynagar. And maybe take Howrah from Bengal, their remaining Hindu province beside their capital of Bihar.

Another option would be to take Chin from Arakan, so that I can annex them later.

September 1, 1754 - Our alliance with Russia and Saxony has expired. Which may be a good thing.

September 4, 1754 - Russia invites us into an alliance with them again. Knowing that Jodhpur is now at war with us, I decline.

I want to put Vijaynagar in our alliance and vassalize our Hindu brothers.

September 29, 1754 - Several skirmishes with local Bengali, Arakan and Jodhpur troops. We have won them all.

October 1, 1754 - Our colony in Semipalatinsk has expanded.

October 9, 1754 - I order an assault of Chin.

October 20, 1754 - We have captured Chin from Arakan!

November 1, 1754 - Our army from Da nang have arrived in Tarakan and is attking the remaining and rallied Arakan forces in their capital.

November 16, 1754 - The Arakan foreces are retreated from us in Tarakan. I order my forces into Chin, where I suspect the Arakani are fleeing.

December 19, 1754 - About four or five skirmishes have been won by us. We have also defeated the remaining Arakan troops in Chin.

December 24, 1754 - We have a sort of detente going on with the border with Vijaynagar. Nobody is moving, just troops are amassed on the border.

January 1, 1754 - Market Flucatuations have open a new Center of Trade in Natal, right beside un in Inhambane.

January 2, 1755 - Our forces have arrived in Koch, where the remaining Bengali troops are regrouping.

January 21, 1755 - We defeat the Bengal troops in Koch.

February 21, 1755 - We have captured Awadh from Bengal.

April 21, 1755 - Vijaynagar offers us a White Peace. I accept.

I order my armmy from Maharashtra back to Indus and the army we have in Bastar is sent to the front with Bengal and Arakan.

June 8, 1755 - Sibir offers us a whit epeace and I accept.

June 19, 1755 - I order an assault on Howrah.

July 29, 1755 - We have captured Howrah.

I demand Chin and Howrah. Bengal declines.

I order my troops to Bihar to prove my point.

September 1, 1755 - I again demand Chin and Howrah. Bengal accepts.

I send colonists to Semipalatinsk and traders to Omsk and Nefedova.

With Howrah, we now have a land connection from Chin to India; Ganges Santal, Koch - all connected, through Howrah to Odisa, and through Odisa, to Sambalpur, Berhampur, and so forth.

Now one country is still in our way.

September 19, 1755 - 24000 infantry arrive in Rajputana to join the 23000 already there.

With a grand total of almost 47000 infantry in Jodhpur's province, all we need is a breach in the walls to order an assult on their level four fortress.

September 24, 1755 - I order a governor to Howrah and a Missionary to Chin.

December 25, 1755 - Our cannon have arrived in Rajputana, most of our army rests in Delhi, watching and waiting for that key breach.

January 12, 1756 - Semipalatinsk expands and more colonists are dispatched.

February 1, 1756 - Chin are rebelling.

We have established a Trading Post in Omsk.

February 26, 1756 - Chin rebels are defeated.

March 1, 1756 - Da Nang is rebelling.

March 16, 1756 - Da Nang rebels are crushed.

May 23, 1756 - Semipalatinsk has expanded and more colonists are dispatched.

I send State Gift to Vijaynagar. Our relations improve enormously.

August 1, 1756 - Chin is rebelling.

August 18, 1756 - Rebels in Chin have been eliminated.

October 7, 1756 - Semipalatinsk expands and more settlers are en route.

December 16, 1756 - England decalres war upon us but I pay them off for 250 ducats.

January 1, 1757 - Taiwan are revolting.

January 19, 1757 - We have defeated the Taiwanese rebels.

February 17, 1757 - Semipalatinsk becomes a major province with its expansion. I order walls built there and will look at it later.

March 1, 1757 - Ganges are rebelling.

March 15, 1757 - We have captured Rajputana!

We annex Jodhpur.

Chin:

Captured from Jodhpur, Chin is not all that valuable, just strategically useful in gettin Arakan down to one province so we can annex them in the future. Chin is north of Tarakan and east of Santal.

The 76358 citizens of Chin are Sunni and of Burmanese culture. They are experiencing nationalism, and we have an army stationed here. Wokring Naval Supplies, they send us 20 ducats and create 5 in Ganges with trade.

Howrah:

One of the few remaining Hindu provinces outside of Mataram prior to the war, Howrah is the bridge, as is Odisa. Without either one, the provines iof Ganges, Santal, Koch and Chin would be unconnected to India. Howarh is northwest of Ganges, west of Santal, south of Koch, east of Bihar and Northeast of Odisa.

The 375632 people here work the spice trade. The inhabitants of Howrah are Hindu and of Bengali descent. They ship us 39 ducats and create 56 in Ganges in trade.

I order a Tax Collector to Howrah.

Rajputana:

The ex-Jodhpur country is a simple grain province in the relative desert of Rajputana. Southwest of Delhi and northwest of Malwa, we have another army stationed here due to its close proximity to the Mughals and its nationalism. In fact, Rajputana borders both Thar and Bikaner, the two Mughal provinces nearby.

549251 people farm grain here. They have a large level for fortress that requires 20000 troops just to besiege. They also have a Refinery built here. The people here are Hindu and of Hindi culture. They send me 38 ducats annually and send 3 to Kutch.

I order a governor place here.

Semipalatinsk:

Situated above the Russian provinces of Karaganda and Nura, the copper mines of Semipalatinsk were to seductive a province not to colonize, despite their proximity to Russia. The 1610 people here send us 23 ducats annualy and create 15 in trade at Novgorod.

They are currently building walls here.

March 17, 1757 - I order traders to Novosibirsk and Nefedova

May 22, 1757 - Rebels in Ganges have been crushed.

June 1, 1757 - Our land technology has increased. We can now build Weapon Manufactories.

I order a trader sent to Demjanskoje, Altai, and Tchita.

September 1, 1757 - We have acquired a monopoly in Natal.

Speaking of which, all of our African colonies all send their trade to Natal, but Mahe continues to send its to Zanzibar.

October 1757 - I send a State Gift to Vijaynagar. Our relations improve modestly.

Only Vijaynagar and Gujarat remain as fellow Hindu nations.

And, other than Vijaynagar, the numbr of Hindu provinces outside of Mataram is two - Bihar, the capital of Bengal, and Gujarat province. While four provinces make up the Hindu state of Gujarat, only her capital is actually Hindu.

So, with the four Vijaynagar Hindu provinces, that means six provinces outside of Mataram are Hindu.

Doable.

December 15, 1757 - We have established a Trading Post in Tchita.

December 25, 1757 - Russia has annexed Sibir.

January 29, 1757 - We have established Trading Posts in Demjanskoje and Altai.

July 1, 1758 - Our naval technology has incresed.

July 7, 1758 - The rebels in Da Nang have been defeated.

August 4, 1758 - I issue Missionaries to Da Nang and Cambodia.November 1, 17589 - Traders are ordered to Balakhta and Chatga.

March 9, 1759 - Mataram's newest Trading Post is in Chatga. Traders to Balakhta have failed to take.

May 22, 1759 - I order a Tax Collector to Semipalatinsk.

August 5, 1759 - Another failure at Sergino, but I am undeterred. More settlers embark for a long journey north.

September 12, 1759 - Colonists leave that are bound for Oregon.

December 1, 1759 - The Peasants of Da Nang are rebelling. While I am sieging Da Lat, how quaint.

December 3, 1759 - Our Royal Marriage with Afghanistan has expired. We renew our vows. Ialso enter into a Royal Marriage with Vijaynagar.

February 10, 1760 - We have founded a colony in Sergino. Excellent! I order more colonists in.

March 9, 1760 - We have captured Da Lat. I turn my eyes back to Da Nang.

April 22, 1760 - We have founded a colony in Oregon! I order in more settlers.

May 6, 1760 - Rebels in Da Nang have been severely trounced.

July 14, 1760 - Sergino expands and additional settlers are en route.

September 22, 1760 - I send a State Gift to Vijaynagar and our relations improve significantly.

October 7, 1760 - Our Inquisition attempt in Taiwan has failed. Another Missionary is sent to the island.

October 27, 1760 - Taiwanese rebels have been crushed.

November 15, 1760 - We have failed to expand our colony in Oregon. More colonists are dispatched.

December 21, 1760 - Our colonization attempt to Sergino has also failed. I show our Minister of Colonization the skull of hos predecessor to remind him of the consequence of his failure. More settlers are sent.

March 1, 1761 - Chin is rebelling. We defeat the rebels six days later.

Consistency

I belive that I was chosen t be the new Regent becuase of my overwhelming support of Jerton and his policies. There has been dissent over his heavy handed methods, but not from me.

Additionally, I have run what is, arguably, the most important province in Mataram. Although modern provinces like Ganges or Delhi may be more valuable, Malacca has been the crown jewel of the Mataram crown for centuries, and the Governorship of her is considered one of the most prestigious position in the Empire.

So, it's not that much of a surprise that I should be elevated in this time of crisis. I do order Martial Law of Da Lat lifted. Let's not punish an entier people becuase of the actions of a few extreme elements.

However, we do have to show that this sort of behavior is not tolarated. I execute the familes of the conspirators and issue an edict that any further attempts on the lives of Matarami officials shall be met with the same justice.

As for goals, I echo those of Jerton. They were:

1). Control all Hindu lands
2). Expand in East Africa if possible
3). Colonize the Northern Reaches
4). Close all of our borders
5). Expand in SE Asia if possible
6). Convert the heathens in our midst.

They shall be seen through to the best of my ability.

March 16, 1796 - Our inquisition attempt to Cambodia has failed and the people there are rebelling against us. It is too bad they cannot be as far-sighted as their Da Lat kin.

Now, every province in India, save Indus, is connected by land to every province in SE Asia and Malaysia. The people here famr grain and send us 26 ducats and ship 4 in trade to Ganges. Experiencing nationalism, the 75026 people here are Buddhist and Burmanese. Mandalay has a Weapons Manufactory.

Hanoi:

Since Hanoi is currently occupied by rebel forces, I cannot review a lot of its details. I do know that Hanoi ships Naval Supplies, has 72100 people, and sends us 16 ducats while sending 6 to Guangzhou. They are Vietnamese and Buddhist.

The province is surrounded by Vientiene and China, besides being under rebel rule. I have no desires to keep it.

Dai Viet Military:

I have acquired 2 warships and 4 transports from Dai Viet. I order them to Da Nang.

There are 5476 infantry and 13 cannon in Hanoi and 5000 infantry in Mandalay.

Having absolutely no desire for Hanoi, I release Dai Viet as a vassal. We lose the negative reputation that we gained for taking Hanoi, and Dai Viet will still be our vassal.

So, in essence, we have gained Mandalay for a slight drop in our reputation.

June 4, 1796 - I send a Missionary to Mandalay.

The Mataram-Mughal War of 1808-1810

I accept the alliance offer and am now at war with the Mughal Empire.

They have 8000 troops in Bikaner and 12500 in Thar. It is my goal to take these two provinces, so that our westernmost border is complete.

I order all of my troops from Rajputana and Indus into the Mughal territoes. We have a massive troop advantage, so I think that the war will go badly for the Mughals.

January 10, 1809 - Our forces have arrived in Bikaner and war begins.

January 17, 1809 - Our Indus army has arrived in Thar and we are at battle with the Mughal troops.

January 21, 1809 - We have eliminated all Mughal troops from Bikaner. I order out most of my troops and send in the cannon from Delhi.

February 19, 1809 - We have won a battle in har. I send in the infantry from our previous battle in Bikaner.

March 12, 1809 - We over 40000 men, I order the assault on Thar. It goes quickly.

March 17, 1809 - We have captured Thar! Our sige of Bikaer looks to be going well, so I will not assault them.

May 3, 1809 - Okhotsk expands and is now a full province. I elect to look at it war after the war.

June 21, 1809 - We have captured the city of Bikaner!

Remember, hese two provinces are cut off from the rest of the Empire by Afghanistan.

I demand the provinces for peace, the Mughals refuse. Obviously, they need more convincing.

I get permission for the Mameluks to use their land for military access. I march 40000 troops to Mughal territory.

August 23, 1809 - We have arrived in Zaheden. I immediately order an assault on the province.

August 30, 1809 - Zaheden has fallen to our men. Yet the Mughals still will not accept peace for Thar and Bikaner. I order my troops onward.

October 20, 1809 - We have arrived in Surkhandarya and I order an assault here as well.

November 2, 1809 - We have captured Surkhandarya. And yet, the Mughals refuse our peace overtures. I order my men to Herat, where the remnants of the Mugahls reside.

November 12, 1809 - We have arrived in Herat and battle ensues.

November 27, 1809 - Herat is defeated and I order my men to assault Herat. We have a breach, or else I wouldn't do it.

December 29, 1809 - Herat falls to us!

Surely the Mughals will acpet peace with us. We have 5 of thei r9 provinces in our hands. All we want are two distant provinces that don't even border the Mughal Empire any longer.

Yet they hold out.

March 9, 1810 - Machu declares war upon The Hedjaz. I decline to join them, which removes us from the alliance. That is quite good becuase now the Maeluks cannot negotiate peace on our behalf, only we can.

Our stability dropped, too, so it's not all roses.

And still, no peace. What will it take for the Mughals to accept peace with us? One army - one - has captured three Mughal provinces. And while they are down to 20% of their starting size due to attrition, assaults and battle, they still managed to capture three provinces. I have 9 more armies in SE Asia and India.

Should I send in more? Should I capture every last Mughal province?

I decide to wait this one out.

May 26, 1810 - I send another peace anvoy, after winning a few skirmishes with our smaller army.

This time, the Mughals accept our offer.

Thar:

126728 people work this provinces that is northeast of Indus and west of Pabjab, Bikaner and Rajputana. The people here are Sunni and Hindi. The farmers here grow grain and give us 22 ducats while sending 4 to Kutch in trade.

Bikaner:

South of Panjab, east of That, west of Delhi and north of Rajputana. The Hindi and Sunni peoples of Bikaner make cloth and send us 30 ducats exporting it. The 179554 citizens also generate 22 ducats in Kutch.

I order a governor here.

Okhotsk:

Colonized during the war, this port in the Northern Reaches is north of the gold mines in Enkan. Howver, unlike their rich neighbors, the 750 colonists here fish. The send us 7 ducats and 5 to Shanghai.

I order a Tax Collector sent here.

Speech given at Coronation:

"After scouring our empire for an appropriate sucessor, I have found only one candidate.

I looked in the Alaskan foothills of North America. Down to Oregon. But I could not find him.

I perused the Pacifc Islands - Oahu, Kauai, Tahiti, Viti Levu. But he was not to be found.

I scoured the areas around New Zealand, Australia and New Guinea. But he was elsewhere.

I toured East Africa for him, from Keren down to Inhambae and even Mahe. But he was not there.

I went to the nothernmost areas of Sibiria - Obdorsk and Igrim, Sergino and Pimsk. Again, I could not find a suitable candidate.

Down the entire Siberian Corridor I investigated. Semipalatinsk, Angara, Ob, Kalar, Krasnoyarsk. And yet, no trace of him could be seen.

I entered the Northern Reaches and Kamchatka. From Sredny Hreebt to Nelma and Vanin. Oh I looked. But I could not find the one.

I took a look at western India - Panjab, Indus, Delhi. And yet, no sucessor was there.

Southern India - Mysore, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pondicherry, Maharashtra. Nothing was to be found.

So to Eastern India I went. Odisa, Raipur and Howrah over to Ganges and Santal. Yet. Nothing.

Our trek made its way through Chin and Mandalay, Irrawady and Kwai to SE Asia and even in this place, there was no sucessor.

Down the Malaysian Pensinula I went, even to Malacca itself and still. Still. There was no one.

So the, surely, our attempts to find a wirthy sucessor would suceed in the Phillipines, or maybe Taiwan. But no.

The island of Sumatra, also called Atjeh island. Was there a worthy Regent here? I could not find a one.

So to Borneo I flew. Brunei, Sabah, Kalimantan, Selatan - surely someone here, someone, could be the next Regent. But if so, they eluded me.

To Java I went. Jakarta, Surabaja, Bandung and Sunda. Is there not one person on Java who could be regent? Apparently not.

And then to the islands my ship went. Ceram and Buru, Timor and Tindore, Sumbawa and Flores. But it was to no avail.

So I came home to Bali depressed. For there was no one out there. No person had all of the abilities nneded - strength, resolve, intelligence, compassion, piety, autocracy, energy and ability. Nobody was an acceptable candidate.

And then, while in my deepest despair, a boy came up to me. Of 11 years of age, this simple little child, spoke to me as an adult. And I spoke with him. After only a brief instant it hit me.

Mataram, this is you next Regent.

The boy is your Prince. Pakubuwana V.

With the passing of the Regency into royal hands, this age of Mataram comes to a close. A new age opens before her, one where no achievement is impossible, no task too great, and no country or people can stand in our way.

I Give You Your New Regent! I GIVE YOU YOUR KING!"

If you have read this franchise, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take a few seconds and up your post count by posting a reply here. That way I can gauge the interest of this EU2 dynasty, and maybe stratgey dynasties in general. Even if it's, like six months later or whatever, I'd still appreciate it if you could post your reply here.

Thanks a bunch!
