ESPN's Streak for Cash

A quick search did not reveal another thread about this, so...

Anyone playing this? For those who do not know, ESPN basically puts up a handful of "bets" per day, ranging from straight up who wins (NBA, college, etc.) to who scores more between players to more random bets (I'm not a gambler, so apologies if there are more precise names for the different types of bets). Most wins per month gets $2500, but getting 25 consecutive picks correct is worth $1M.

I kind of got suckered in by getting my first three correct, but I am now 4-3 overall.

Anyone else playing and have any feedback?

I did this a few months ago and got up to 9 in a row. I haven't gotten anywhere close to that since.

It's called Streak for the Cash. I currently have a streak of 13. That's 13 straight LOSSES.

And right now I believe it's 27 picks in a row. Someone hit 25 in a row a while back and won the million. So this is round 2

93% think the USA will win tonight. 7% think a draw or a Mexico win.

I like those odds. (jingoistic, anyone)

Doh! That would be why the quick search did not turn anything up.

Lemme see if I can fix the title.

I got cocky after winning the first three and picked a soccer game and blew it. I went with a team that 95%+ of people were picking and blew it.

I'm kind of torn between volume (up until I get a decent number in a row) or being overly selective.

I've got a streak of 4 going right now. I'm a bit scared to make a pick. I could only imagine having a streak of even 13 or so and having to pick between two cellar-dwelling NBA teams.

At one point I had a pretty good streak going, and picked the Warriors to beat the 2-12 Wizards. The Warriors lost by like 25.

My highest is 7. Got burned by a woman's college basketball game. I saw Duke/NC on the screen and chose NC. Thought it was mens. Didn't know how to change the pick.

6 is my longest winning and losing streak so far. Got burned by Malta today as well, Oklahoma seems a sure bet though.

Just checked, I didn't lose the streak on that. Guess I lost it the night before on the Suns-Pistons game.

I have had 7 twice.

Two things I have learned, players know shit about soccer and about home teams vs. away teams yearly records.

A team can be 20-10 with all 20 wins at home, all 10 losses on the road vs a 10 and 20 team with all 10 wins at home and 20 on the road and 98.2 % of the country pick the the away team to win.

AJ Price had 17 points and 3 assists, compared to Jonny Flynns 16 points. Bye, bye, streak!

I'm up to 4 now, with the Illini giving me a scare tonight (trailed the entire game, but won 60-59).

I don't see anything I like in tomorrow's menu. 'Nova over WVU seems like a solid choice, but I cannot pick against my Mountaineers.

Yeah, they don't normally pick no-brainers. Probably just the number of games that are out there.

I have been doing this since about midway through the first round (which was the end of last year) I started out this round really crappy, but made my way back towards .500 (27 - 30) My longest streak of 5 came to an end yesterday (Thanks UCLA!) and I've had a 7-game losing streak as well. It really boggles my mind when you see the monthly winners have 60 or 70 wins (and more) They must be on ALL the time.

I think you can, conceivably, play up to 3 times on some days. I have seen early golf matchups followed by early evening basketball followed by fairly late night NBA or NHL (occassionally West Coast NCAA b-ball, as well).

This is weird because usually the public jumps on favorites, but here the public is on 'Nova but West Virginia is a 4 point favorite at home.

I took WVU tonight. They're much better than their record would indicate (I was stunned to see 98% chose Villanova). Plus they're favored and playing in Morgantown.

Seems like soccer is a strategically bad choice because draws happen so often and that's not one of your choice options.

I could swear I've seen soccer games that gave you the option to take the favorite to win, or the underdog to lose or draw.

Yeah, they definitely do that.

Wish I would have picked WVU tonight, but I'm happy with the win over Villanova.

Up to 5 straight with Kansas' win today.

Not much to choose from tonight or tomorrow, in my opinion.

I'm taking John Nolan to win the PBA event today. Only 6% are picking him which is surprising considering he is the #1 seed and only actually has to win one match to win the tournament.

RIP -- my 5-game streak.

Picked Michigan State to beat Purdue on the road last night. I hated to go for the road team, but I hadn't gotten a win in several days and wanted to try to pick one up.

Back to the drawing board.

Michigan State destroyed my mojo as well. I took NC to win by more than Kansas, though there was absolutely no research made in that pick whatsoever.

I've been playing this for the last month. I'm about .500 in picking games outside of soccer, where I'm 2-9. I do not think that is very easy to do, even in a sport where I know nothing.

My wife is sick of hearing about my picks.

Oh, and on weekends you can get 4-6 games in a day if you are trying to max out.

Picking OK State has put my win streak at 3. How will I invest my million?

Now I've got Florent Serra over Dudi Sela in tennis. I have never heard of either of these guys, but I'm going with the 94% majority.

I think the Weir/Mickelson matchup today is pretty interesting. I went with Weir, who has been lights out so far this year in comparison to Phil. But Mickelson traditionally does very well in the early season California tournaments and has a 1st and 2nd in this one the last two years.

Is anyone doing a group for this?
