We travel to Northwich for an FA Cup match. We faced them to open our season, also on the road, and lost 1-0.

We have decided to stay with a 4-5-1 for the time as it has been working well recently. Rendell is back but not at full strength and Holroyd has been plahyig well so we will keep Holroyd in to start and have Rendell to come in off the bench.

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin
DC - Coulson
DC - Bolland
DR - Gleeson
ML - McMahon
MC - Farrell
MC - Convery
MC - Beesley
MR - Challinor
ST - Holroyd

Subs: Quinton, Carden, Hatswell, McAuley, Bennett, Parkinson, Rendell

1st half
- Challinor was injured and eventually replaced by Bennett at right midfield in the 17th minute
- Bennett had two chances within a couple minutes of each other late in the half, the first he was robbed on a great save by the keeper and the second he was flagged offside
- The game goes to the half scoreless

2nd half
- In the 49th minute Holroyd first from just inside the box on the right wing side and just misses the left corner to keep the game scoreless
- Rendell in for Holroyd at striker in the 64th minute
- Quinton in for Convery at center midfield in the 64th minute
- In the 73rd minute McMahon with a freekick from about 35 yards out goes just high and the game remains scoreless
- Farrell gets shown a yellow car in the 74th minute after what was deemed a hard foul
- In th 76th minute midfielder Matty Crowell received a corner from the right wing and directed it into the left side of the goal to give Northwich a 1-0 lead
- We had a couple decent chances but nothing that coudl even the score as wel fall 1-0 to Northwich on the road for the second time this season, this time eliminating us from the FA Cup

- Matty Crowell was named man of the match

We host first place Rushden. I feel that we should be able to beat them in front of our fans as we have been plahying quite well at home as of late. The biggest question is to stay with 4-5-1 or shift back to 4-4-2. I have decided that having both Holroyd and Rendell on the field together gives us a great offensive threat and that cannot be passed up.

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin
DC - Coulson
DC - Bolland
DR - Gleeson
ML - McMahon
MC - Farrell
MC - Convery
MR - Parkinson
ST - Holroyd
ST - Rendell

Subs: Carden, Beesley, Hatswell, McAuley, Bennett

- McMahon will be making his 150th career league appearance
- Rendell needs 2 more goals to reach 25 with Cambridge

1st half
- In he 3rd minute Rendell almost made that strategy pay off as he received a throuh ball and fired one off the keeper and out for a corner
- On the ensuing corner Rendell headed the corner from Convery into the net to give us a 1-0 lead
- In the 12th minute McMahon took the ball down the left wing and sent a cross into the box where Rendell directed it just wide right, he seems to be back at top form
- The half ends with us up 1-0

2nd half
- In the 55th minute the ball found Holroyds foot inth box and he fired i off the keeper and it was cleared to keep the score 1-0
- Rob Elvins took across and one touched it into the goal to tie the game 1-1 in the 60th minute
- Bennett in for Parkinson at right midfield in the 60th minute
- In the 67th minute Bennett hit Holroyd with a cross but Holroyd heads it just wide right to keep the game tied at 1-1
- Beesley in for Farrell at center midfield in the 68th minute
- Carden in for Convery in at center midfield in the 68th minute
- Bolland is given a yellow card in the 79th minute for a trip
- In th 82nd minute Bennett intercepts a pass, dribls pst a defender down the right wing, sends a fine pass all the way to Tonkin at left wing, Tonkin with a one touch pass to Holroyd who scores... GOOAALLLLLLL... but wait, a flag was up, offside, goal disallowed
- In the 84th minute Holroyd cuts into the top of the box from left wing and instead of passing to Rendell near the center as everyone expected he passes to Bennett sneaking in on the right wing foran onside play, Bennett one touches it into the goal.... GOOOALLLLLL... this one stands and we take a 2-1 lead
- The best chance in the remainder of the game was from Beesley in extra time as he directed a shot just wide left as the game endswith us victorious 2-1

- Bennett impressed enough coming off the bench and getting the game winner that he earned man of the match honors

We have now had 2 wins and 2 draws in our last 4 league games. In out last 10 league games we have 4 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss. We need to turn mor of those draws into wins. We have gone 7 straight home games without a loss as well.

Yep!!!!!!

Had to try hard to keep the celebration from being a vocal "YES!!!" due to the very late time I was playing (couldn't get to sleep and I figured that was a good way to pass the time).

The Blue Square Premier League names it's Team of the Week. Danny Potter and Scott Rendell each find their names on the list.

*** - I have been named the Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month for November. In league games this month we had 4 victories and 1 draw in the 5 league games that we played (outscoring our opponents 9-3). Hopefully this helps my standing with the club.

*** - I have been named the Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month for November. In league games this month we had 4 victories and 1 draw in the 5 league games that we played (outscoring our opponents 9-3). Hopefully this helps my standing with the club.

Awesome! Congrats to the MoM for you...it's a good feeling...

Usually I am being fired by this point.

I think doing this as a dynasty has made me take it slower and think about it more. At least that's my current theory...

DC - Bolland

ML - Parkinson
MC - Quinton
MC - Beesley
MR - Bennett
ST - Holroyd
ST - Rendell

Subs: Carden, Convery, Hatswell, Farrell, McAuley

1st half
- In the 14th minute striker Elliot Benyon scores from the center of the box as our defense was a man short with Gleeson on the sideline with an injury and we fall behind early 1-0

- In the 33rd minute Benett goes just wide right from about 20 yards out
- In the 36th minute Holroyd sends Rendell into the box where he gets off a quick shot but goes wide right
- We are unable to get the equalizer and trail 1-0 at the half

2nd half
- After I handout a halftime verbal thrashing (very different from my normal approach) we head back out with no lineup changes but some slight tactic changes (shortening the gap between midfield and defense for one as we have given them too much room to operate)
- In the 54th minute a misplay by a defender put the ball on Holroyd's foot with a great chance but he shanked it wide
- In the 55th minute a fine long pass to Rendell gave him a ahcne just inside the box but a fine save by the keeper kept us down 1-0

The Blue Square Premier League named it's team of the week. Danny Potter has been named to the team.

December 9, 2008

We travel to Burton to play them for the first time this season as our congested schedule continues in December. They are currently in 4th in the league. We need to bounce back quickly from that last game. Burton striker Shaun Harrad is the man to watch as he leads the league with 18 goals.

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin
DC - Coulson
DC - Bolland
DR - Farrell
ML - Parkinson
MC - Quinton
MC - Beesley
MR - Bennett
ST - Holroyd
ST - Rendell

Subs: Carden, Convery, Hatswell, Crow, McAuley

- Bennett is abut to make his 325th league appearance

1st half
- In the 12th minute Coulson takes Harrad dwn int eh box and a penalty is called
- Surprisingly defender Aaron Webster takes the kick and deposits it in the left side of the goal to give Burton a 1-0 lead, we are looking quite tired early in the match
- From about the 30th to the 34th minute we had a sustained attack but could not generate any good chances in that time period, just a lot of possession and we trail 1-0 at the half

2nd half
- In the 47th minute a Burton counter attack sent Harrad down the right wing well beyond the defense (offside?) as he cut towards the goal he fed striker Martin Butler for the easy tap in to take a 2-0 lead
- In the 51st minute Parkinson gets called for a trip on Harrad in the box for another penalty, a very questionable call; Webster again takes the kick and it looks like a repeat of the first as he rips it into the left side of th goal for the 3-0 lead, we are in a world of trouble in this one
- Crow on for Coulson and moves to striker and McAuley on for Farrell at right defender as we go with a 3-4-3 in the 54th minute
- In the 56th minute Potter with a fine save against Harad to keep it 3-0
- In the 57th minute on a counter attack Holroyd got the ball with space to shoot from 20 yards out and put it into the top left corner of he goal to make it 3-1
- In the 59th minute Harrad sends Butler in alone on Potter and he puts it into the right side of the goal to make the score 4-1 just as we started to feel better after making it 3-1
- In the 64th minute Bolland gets shown a yellow for tripping Harrad, that will give him a suspension this season
- In the 76th minute Harrad gets the pass in the boxand rips his 19th goal of the season and it is now 5-1, we are looking to crawl away and hide at this point
- We give up yet another before the final whistle and walk away with our heads hung low after a 6-1 defeat, our low point of the season as of late

- Aaron Webtster won man of the match for Burton

Our insane schedule continues as we travel to Barrow for our next league match. They sit in 19th in the league and have not been playing well as we look to secure some road points to try to cut into our 11 point deficit behind league leading Oxford.

Danny Potter once again sees his name in the Blue Square Premier team of the week.

January 8, 2009

We have been told that our League Cup match against Wrexham on January 13th will be televised live.

Danny Crow has suffered a groin injury (gr-gr-groin injury) and will be out 3 to 4 weeks. The injuries keep mounting.

We play at Ebbsfleet in an FA Trophy match. We have split the league series with them this season, each winning at home. Though there is a lot of pressure from our board to do well I don't realistically see it with all the injuries that we have and our recent schedule from hell.

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin
DC - Coulson
DC - Bolland
DR - McAuley
ML - Parkinson
MC - McMahon
MC - Farrell
MR - Convery
ST - Beesley
ST - Rendell

Subs: Gleeson, Hatswell, Bennett, Challinor, Holroyd (both Chalinor and Holroyd have not recovered fully from their injuries and will most likely not see any time)

Conference League Cup quarter final at Wrexham. We played them to a 1-1 draw in a league game at home early in the season. Now we have a very tired team playing on the road in a televised game and we really want to put on a good show for our fans and supporters.

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin
DC - Coulson
DC - Bolland
DR - McAuley
ML - Parkinson
MC - Challinor
MC - Farrell
MR - Convery
ST - Beesley
ST - Rendell

Subs: Bennett, Holroyd, Hatswell, Gleeson, Quinton

1st half
- We weather a storm in the first 15 minutes which saw several shots go wide of their mark as Wrexham was attacking all out early trying to get the early lead
- In the 29th minute Potter makes an outstanding save diving to his right on what should have been called an offside play
- The half ends scoreless, we are going to look for a good counterattack opprtunity and try to turn that into a go ahead and hopefully game winning goal

2nd half
- Hatswell in for an injured Bolland at center defender to start the second half
- Bennett in at right midfield for an exhausted Convery to start the second half
- Gleeson for and exhausted Challinor and moves to right midfield while Bennett moeve to center midfield to start the second half
- We hopefully don't shoot ourselves in the foot by using 3 subs but we have two players who can't keep up due to being worn out and another that can't because of injury so it has to be done
- In th 74th minute Bennett sends Rendell through the middle and he shoots at the top of teh box just before defenders converge on him but it goes just over the goal
- In the 75th minute a scramble in front of our goal led to Potter making back to back saves before the ball got cleared, the ball came within inches of the line each time
- In the 78th minute defender Simon Spender snuck in and received a cross on the left side and buried it into the goal to give Wrexham a 1-0 lead
- We are unable to get the equalizer and fall 1-0

- Simon Spender was named man of the match

Tonkin and Bolland both were injured in the game but it seems to be nothing serious (thankfully, if they were both going to be out were would be in SERIOUS trouble).

We host 21st pace Woking in a game that we are a heavy favorite. Hopefully we can get through this game healthy and with 3 points in our pocket. Though the fans my feel differently I am not worried about style points in this game and just want a win (even if it's a 1-0 snooze fest).

G - Potter
DL - Tonkin

- In the 22nd minute Convery had a free kick from about 30 yards out but put it wide right
- In the 43rd minute Holroyd received a pass about 12 yards in front, turned and fired but a fine save deflected the ball over the top of the goal for a corner
- Though we controlled the first half it ends scoreless (we outshot them 8-1 and had 7 corners to 1 for Woking)

2nd half
- Bennett in for an exhausted Convery at right midfield in the 55th minute
- In the 78th minute the crowd is silenced when midfielder Paolo Vernazza slices a free kick from 35 yards out just inside the upper left corner to give Woking a 1-0 lead

- In the 42nd minute Tonkin was injured and had to be replaced, Coulson came on and went to center defender as Hatswell went t Tonkin's place at left defender

Small write up on this one as almost all the way through the game I must have hit somehting that cleared everything that I had typed.

At Kidderminster in a league game, we were hoping to get off the draw streak and gain ground in the standings. I put Rendell on the bench to start the game due to his recent lack of performance.

We started out poorly falling behind 2-0 in th efirst 20 minutes. We fought back to tie the game with 2 goals by Holroyd and the game ended 2-2. Sadly we also had 2 goals disallowed due to offside or we could have turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 victory.

Holroyd earned man of the match with his two goal performance.

- In the 16th minute Holroyd receives a pass in the cente of the box, dribbled around the defender and shot it off the crossbar and it was cleared
- The remainder of the half Mansfield had a few chances but nothing seriously threatening as we go into the half up 1-0

2nd half
- McMahon in for Willmott and moves to center midfield as Challinor moves to right midfield in the 63rd minute
- In the 65th minute Parkinson had a chance just to the left of the goal at the top of the box but fired it over the goal
- Rendell in for Challinor and moves to striker as Beesley moves to right midfield in the 75th minute
- In the 80th minute Holroyd gets tied up with a defender at the top of the box and the ball bouces free to McMahon who blasts a shot into the right side of the goal for the 2-0 lead

Lost much of what I was writing so I will go with the short version. We played at Lewes who is in last place in the league in a game that we needed to win.

We started out early with a penalty kick goal by Challinor. Holroyd added a goal to make it 2-0 which we held at the half.

In the second half Lewes cut the lead in half but then another penalty kick goal, this one by Beesley gave us the 3-1 lead which was the final score.

Beesley was named man of the match.

We return home to host 14th place Crawley. We beat them 2-1 on their home field earlier in the season and hope to continue our unbeaten run with another win.

I am a little concerned with the booking happy referee that we will be getting in this game. David Richardson has only done 9 games this season and has handed out 48 yellow cards (3rd most mong all referees but he has dne a third of the games) and 2 red cards (5th most) in that short time. He has one of the worst ratings among all referees. I don't like adding this unknown wild card into the mix.

We are going with the same lineup as last game but tweaking our strategy just a little to defend against the speed of the Crawley strikers.

- In the 44th minute Beesley gets mugged in the box on a corner and a penalty is called

I have been warned by FA for comments following a penalty that wasn't called in the last match.

We return home to face Northwich who have been struggling badly as of late and have lost 4 straight. We have somehow lost twice to this team, both 1-0, this season. Once on the road in league competition and once on the road in the FA Cup.

- Rendell needs 3 goals to reach 50 career league goals
- Beesley needs 2 goals to reach 75 career league goals

1st half
- In the 2nd minute Rendell receivd a pass near the toip o the box, dribbled to his right two steps and placed a perfect shot into the right corner of the goal.... GGOOOOAAAAAALLLLLL!!!!! Maybe he is back to form! 1-0 lead
- In the 19th minute Willmott made a fine play to get around a defender and place a perrfect pass to Rendell who got by he defense and in on goal, he placed the ball past the desperation save attempt by the keeper and into the goal for his second goal of the game!!!! 2-0 lead, no to do what we couldn't do last game and protect it
- In the 36th minute Willmott again threaned downthe right wing and crossed into the box for a header by Carden, the keeper made a great save but the ball rebounded right to Rendell who put it nto the goal to complete his hat-trick, 3-0 lead!!!!
- We hold the lead until the half, Rendel is on fire today; I guess sitting him had a positive impact

2nd half
- In the 51st minute a misplay by Carden led to a chance for striker Darryn Stamp from 20 yards out who placed a perfect shot by Potter and into the goal to make the score 3-1
- Challinor in for Carden at center midfield in the 52nd minute
- Bennett in for Willmott at right midfield in the 74th minute
- We hold out for the 3-1 win, fans probably wanted a couple more goals but I wanted the win
