Chicago Loses Gilbert Stiles
CHICAGO, IL. May 5, 1915 - Chicago fans will be disappointed to learn that Gilbert Stiles suffered a sprained ankle while colliding with a player at a base in yesterday's game. Buffalo Headed to Series!
BUFFALO, NY. September 6, 1915 - We didn't think we'd see a team clinch this early, but Buffalo has done it. With a 5-0 win over the Kansas City Packers yesterday afternoon, the Blues put themselves 18 games ahead of Newark and Pittsburgh, ensuring their Federal League victory and a place in the Presidents Cup Series. This is Buffalo's second time on top of the Federal League. In the league's inaugural season in 1912, the Blues finished with 98 wins, but lost to the Chicago Orphans five games to two. |

Washington Leaps Into 1st Place
WASHINGTON, DC. September 13, 1915 - Things are getting wild in the United League. The defending pennant champion Orphans have been defending their title well, but the Nationals came into town and stole first place away. With a three-game sweep, the Nationals are in first place. But nothing is set in stone. The Nationals have played 142 games, and the Orphans have played 147 games, If the Nationals can continue their 8-game win streak, they'll have no problem clinching the pennant. The two big-name additions to the Nationals have been nothing but extraordinary. Ed Gale, the 24-year-old Boston native, is 7-1 with a 2.08 ERA with the club. Fred Edwards, another young star, is hitting .354 in his 16 games with the club. |

"No offense meant to Philadelphia, but it was like I was back in the park again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Murphy Park." The Cleveland first baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 10-4 victory. His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Earl worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits." "That's what I'm trying to do," Moore said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Moore singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th. Moore is presently batting .299 with 3 home runs, 49 runs scored and 41 RBIs. His OBP is .352. |
