Longtime Seattle Mariners broadcaster Dave Niehaus dies at 75 - ESPN

This is surely not one of the most memorable calls of his career, but as a non-Mariners fan, it is one of my favorite moments ever, and he happens to be calling the game.

This is the Mike Blowers prediction game from a couple of years ago. Blowers gives his "pick to click" before the game and half-jokingly gives the player, what he's going to do, in what AB, against what pitcher, the type of pitch, the count, and where the ball is going to go.

And then the second clip is it happening exactly the way it was predicted.

Mariners games will be much more empty now. I knew with Niehaus getting up there in age and with his past heart issues that this day would come and tried to imagine what it might be like and who would replace him, and now, unfortunately, that day is here. He truly was one of the greats, and he'll be impossible to replace for many generations of M's fans.

Thanks for all of the great times we spent together - even though we never met, you were a big part of my life. RIP Dave...

He was a good one, but I had to listen to an M's fan tell me that he was the greatest baseball announcer ever. Do I live in a bubble?

I was 14 when the Mariners started. His voice is baseball for me. RIP.

Any baseball fan that grew up listening to one of the legends feels the same way I'm sure - Dodgers fans growing up with Vin Scully, Tigers fans growing up with Ernie Harwell, Cards fans growing up with Jack Buck, etc.

I used to sit by the radio when I was 10 and listen to Dave call the game while I taught myself to keep score. I still have some of those old notebooks. A couple of summers in college I had long evening commutes, which I would actually look forward to because I could spend the time listening to the M's on the radio. I'll miss him very much.

great man, wish his family the best. He & Rizz took time out of their pre-game to take a picture with me at Fenway Park when Mrs. RedHawk00 & I went for a Mariners 3-Game series and I will always be cherish that pic.
