I went two years in the NCAA 53 league with one regular season loss. We played with a 32 team format and both years, my #1 seed lost to the #8 seed. It was the same team both years which drove me crazy. Outside of one year, I've lost no more than 2 games per season and have yet to make the Final 4

I think I have the game where I want it finally. That rebounding discussion left me tweaking players a bit to get them where I wanted them and the scoring -- and the league file -- feels like real college basketball stat wise. I haven't really monitored how they translate to the NBA, but I do love that I can now import an entire draft class and keep the players consistent.

Also means those low-tier prospects you start to follow and like who maybe never play in the NBA, I can now follow their careers too.

Another day, another 1-16 upset. Can't make any sense of this one, though.

Just noting that the NCAA53 league is about to start another season (1961/62 to be precise), so it's a great time to join up and grab a team (or three or four).

Lots of FOFC folk there - britrock's UNC team just defeated MrBug's Indiana team for our most recent NCAA championship.

Was adding a foreign league to a save and got an error I'd never seen before. Has happened each time I tried in this league, too.

Generally, this error usually means a field has been left blank/invalid. At a guess it would be an issue with one of the fields in the league setup? Especially if it's only occurring with this one league.

I added nation files to the folder and I think those were causing crashes because they weren't setup right. Only thing that makes any sense, it worked before that, but I just figured that out so I'm going to sim forward and see if that was the culprit and attempt to create new foreign leagues again.

Can someone point me to latest patch and logo sets (as well as instructions for installing them)? The start of the college hoops season has given me the urge to fire this up.

That's the latest patch I heard of. Just checked, Young Drachma has a site hosting logos(post above your post). At work but there is a folder in the leagues that is called custom logos I think, just place all of them in there.

This is a reminder for me that I should zip up my latest versions of logos and the teams.csv (for setting team colors) up to Brian's forum page. I'm 99% up to date on the latest logos, and someone pointed out I needed to make them 77x77 rather than 80x80 to get them to display properly so I did that pass recently. I should also do a quick pass on the latest conference alignments and update my conf.csv file.

As for installing them, the two .csv files (teams.csv and conf.csv) should live in the following directory:

C:\Users\Public\Documents\GDS\Fast Break College Basketball 2010

(this assumes your Windows install is on your C: drive; if not, whatever drive your OS is on, use that instead of C

Just replace these. If you want to keep the old ones, you can make a new folder marked "archive" or something and place them there.

The logos will live where your game is installed. By default, it will be here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\GDS\Fast Break College Basketball 2010\images\logos

Just copy in the new logos to overwrite what's in there.

Will you be uploading all of your mods (new .ini config file, updated logos, conference/team structure/names/colors ... in a .zip file soon?

Thanks!

I can post the logo files and my current teams.csv, but I do need an hour or so to review the conf.csv file to get it current (I think I'm a year behind in conference alignments).

Won't be until I get home tonight though.

OK, updated logo files, teams.csv and conf.csv posted over at Brian's forums. I still need to do a pass on updating conference affiliations for this year - the alignments I have were up to date as of 2015:

Great. I'd be starting to play around with the 2015 version while waiting for the 2016. Appreciate the effort!

I updated the conference affiliations to be up to date. Was pretty easy, as it appears the only change was Coastal Carolina moving from the Big South to the Sun Belt.

As noted in the thread, I can't vouch for details of number of conference games, conference game schedules, conference tournament dates and formats, etc., so if anyone sees something that's incorrect, give me a heads-up and I'll update. Anyway, files are posted over at Brian's forum:

I've (FINALLY) started working on a public revamp of the HTML/CSS of the Pro and College series because it's been driving me crazy. I just hadn't gotten around to it.

I'm not done at all, but here's a link to the github repo of the College revamp I just threw together that has a sample HTML file and a CSS file that changes that garish orange background to something else.

SimCSS/college at master · quarterback/SimCSS · GitHub

I know it's possible to do this in-game using the HTML menu and just changing the colors so that the game uses them across the board and removes the background, but it seems like very few leagues do it and also...I just wanted to do something with the HTML/CSS because I'd just been meaning to.

Plus, the in-game setup doesn't allow you to modify the typefaces or anything, but only the most dedicated leagues would go through the trouble of updating the CSS on generated pages each time you load your league, I just liked the ability to do it if you wanted to.

Eventually, I'll do something custom with the tables but right now it's just too tedious to attempt it.

More to come.

I'm curious how everyone tracks development of players and attribute changes. I was wishing there was a tool like for FOF that takes the data and can show progression of players.

This would be my suggestion.

Go to your team roster, and there will be a drop down that says "general" right above the first player listed. Switch that drop down to training results.

You will see how your players just progressed from the last Training camp you ran.

If you keep an excel spreadsheet from where you players are right when they come in and then keep updating after the Training campus you get to see how they progressed over their time on your team. It's work, but its small work if you really want the data.

If you only care about TC gains, then the game give that to you.

Your suggestion is on a list though of what could be improved in the game, and its a good suggestion.

It's a little bit roundabout, but you can see this by clicking on the player and then clicking the "Print" button from the top menu. The .txt file generated will show the progression of attributes each season.

A suggestion for Brian for the next version would be to have tabs or drop-downs for the player pages that allow you to see various screens. Right now we have the "stats" screen and the "notables" screen. If he expanded this via tabs or drop-downs, you could add an attribute history screen.

Yes, it works on Win10.

Try running as administrator out of curiosity? I can't remember if I had to do something to get it to work on Win10 or if it just ran for me.

I edited my default league and can't get past the runtime error. I'm sure I've made a mistake somewhere. (I've done this successfully before.) What have I most likely screwed up?

Thanks for the logos and conference updates! These are great. FYI, Big East plays 18 conference games, and all teams make the conference tourney.

No problem.

BTW, North Carolina is missing you in the NCAA53 league...they fell on hard times this season under CPU control.

I didn't interpret the above question as related to the FBCB-FOFC online league, but I am going to go ahead and create a reboot league except I'll host the forum here in my sub-forum, since it's a lot easier that way.

If there are 3 of us, great. If there are more, fine. I already sim a ton of seasons and for some reason, it's become my only real text sim of consequence, so I might as well have company.

More later.

If there are 3 of us, great. If there are more, fine. I already sim a ton of seasons and for some reason, it's become my only real text sim of consequence, so I might as well have company.

More later.

Sorry YD, I was on my phone an read it as FOFC-FBCB league and not the game. That's what I get for being bored in line at the bank.

My impression is that Brian might get back to this series at some point, but for the moment he's taking a break.

I always thought Visual Basic was a big concern with Windows going forward.

That could be. I get the feeling it's been a combination of issues, but that's probably a significant one.

Hey guys, I've attached a save file with a lot of the coaches named. I'm sure I got all through the team names with M and then a few spread throughout. I don't have time to finish but figured this might be helpful for somebody for this coming season.
Attached Files
File Type: zip NCAA.zip (1.20 MB, 11 views)

As if anyone on this board hasn't bought the game, but it is $10 off for the next week...

The discount only works for pro, not the college game.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A true FM style basketball game, with college and pros would be the ultimate, and a detriment to my health.

Back playing this game again, I'm mostly over the online thing but experimenting is always so fun because you can burn through so many seasons rapidly. Have my fbcb.ini file how I want it, too, which gives me the kind of steady results I like. Might try to do some slow-simming where I look at more granular things but haven't decided.
