Facebook is in danger of becoming a parenting social network. And there's nothing wrong with that - I enjoy hearing about what my nephews and nieces are up to - but otherwise, I think I can see this thing running its course a little already. There was a novelty, but now - it really seems like almost every other post is a "what would we care?" kind of thing.

I think experiences vastly differ from network to network.

Old people see what you do. And by old I mean over 25.

I don't see that yet, but then I've removed or hidden everyone I know who has had children and don't add my cousins or other family members.

I think even on a sports message board you wouldn't find many who think forcing a kid into a sport so they'll look good is much different than parents who make their kids do beauty pageants.

That is why I used the word "push".

I would say that's pretty much the same thing as the kid beauty pageants (minus the creepiness part of it).

A friend just got tagged in this picture because she runs a photography business doing 'boudoir' types of shots. This is certainly, uh... interesting. I don't know if it's actually her photography or not but I don't see why else she would have been tagged for it. Hopefully this doesn't get me in trouble.

I picture them as having a sense of humor and they are making fun of other pictures.

That's my guess at least.

I have a girl on Facebook who's about 300 pounds, and she finally found someone willing to fuck her, and eventually date her. Every status of hers was "I love my Vince" and "Now I know what true love feels like." This happened for about six months before he dumped her and revealed that he was gay.

Now all her statuses are about "how delicious (x food) is."

Not mine but still funny.

Just logged on and the first thing I saw was a crazy status update from some girl I went to high school with. Went to her page and saw this:

Im tired of feelin empty inside, worthless, stuck, crazy, angry, sad & alone. Im tired of yelling & pretending. Im tired of dreamin of a life ill never have. Tired of missing things &people. Tired of wishing I could start over &of not bein able 2 let go. Tired of fakin it. Tired of bein different. Tired of needing help, of always wonderin when Gods going 2 let me be happy. Most of all im just tired of bein tired.

followed by this:

***8206;"family & friends" what a joke. I have none. When i actually need & am begging for the help, what do i get? Nothing. Life is a joke & i am the punchline. FML.

and this:

BORED out of my mind.

then this:

i wub my bowfwend

and the most disturbing of all:

Spending Mother's Day wkend with my angel ) SO happy. Showed her pictures of me pregnant w/her to get her to understand the concept of "Mom" better. Her reaction was sooo cute. I'm the luckiest Mom in the world. Hands down. Daughter's don't come better than my lil girl! ***9829;

All within a six hour timeframe.

Some people should not procreate.

Another one... not mine.

We walked into the bowling center tonight, and the girl told me that she refuses to deal with someone as rude as my wife (I still have no idea what my wife said to her), but she thinks I'm the nicest guy in the world and she has no problem with me. So she's totally cool with me, but she said she has no interest in ever speaking to my wife again.

Okay, a friend of a friend is apparently on a date with a coworker. I see he put in his status "good times" and it is almost immediately liked by the girl he's going out with.

Shouldn't people on a date actually talk face to face?

Got a kick out of this one this morning. This is from a girl I went to high school with who is constantly ranting on facebook. She actually starts off with a fairly standard Monday morning Facebook post.

Quote:
Hey everyone have a great Monday!

She then follows it up one minute later responding to her own post with this...

Quote:

I got two things from that post...

1.) There was a storm last night.

2.) They're getting paid tomorrow.

Other than that, I have absolutely no idea what the hell that person is trying to say.

I think-

Kricket is actually Cricket, a prepaid phone service in the northeast US.

Last night's storm apparently knocked out her cell phone service in her crazy mind, although I'm pretty sure this is virtually impossible unless the cell tower was destroyed.

Her phone is back on as of now

She's going to pay her bill tomorrow when she gets paid-This person is on some sort of Social Security IIRC.

Some other crazy family member is causing drama, but she is content to play games.

And my wife wonders why I don't feel good about seeing these people when we go to New York to spend time once or twice a year.

This is one of those unintentionally inappropriate posts.

There was an accident overnight in our town, about 5 minutes from the house, and someone died. So I saw this post and knew instantly what they were talking about:

"Praying for the XX Family"

Then in the comments:

"I heard the news this morning. So sad. I am praying also!"

"Yes!!!"

It's that last comment that struck me - reads as if she's happy the person died. Woops.

The worst part was this weekend I posted that link. Then I posted some onion article about NASCAR awarding Kyle Busch 50K for homosexual slurs and my MIL responded to that Onion post like it was real.

Smh.

Okay, the Onion stuff made me laugh. So I posted the link to the Harry Potter one on my page. I basically have 2 groups of people on Facebook. Local people and people I've met through international teaching. Not to stereotype, but there's definitely a group that will get the joke, and a big portion of the other that may not.

I love Indiana, seriously.
