As far as the Steelers go-

Harrison, Colon will be cut
Ben/Timmons/Woodley all "capped out".
Polamalu will probably be capped out, but could be cut or forced to take a reduction in salary.

Tomorrow will be interesting in Kansas City. The only result that will keep the fan base from revolting will be a simultaneous canning of Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel. Worst case scenario is both staying, but close to worst case is Pioli staying and Crennel going.

What kind of coach would take the KC job knowing that Scott Pioli has an expiration date of no more than two years? Kirk Ferentz wouldn't touch this job with Josh McDaniel's dick.

I wonder if KC will fall into the Mangini trap or something.

A decision will have to be made in Chicago on Lovie Smith. His contract is up after next season, he has a GM that didn't hire him, an aging defense, and he can't put even an average offense on the field.

Now would be the logical time to let him go, but you never know with the Mccaskeys.

I suspect the Jets should keep Ryan and allow him one more chance to reestablish the team. He's possibly the best head coach in team history. On the other hand, I can't see keeping Tannenbaum at all. He's a freaking hack.

Crennel and Pioli should be fired tomorrow along with Norv Turner, Lovie Smith, Ken Whisenhunt, Chan Gailey, Jason Garrett, Rex Ryan and Ron Rivera. Reid already fired and he'll of course be recycled somewhere else.

Adrian Peterson saved Leslie Frazier's job today and the Vikings will be worse off in the long run for it.

You think Frazier would've been fired after a 9-7 season after going 3-13 the previous year???

I would fire him even though he made the playoffs. Same with Lovie Smith. They're both idiots.

Dear lord, don't give Pioli that idea.

You know, that's about the only guy desperate enough to take the job with Pioli ties. Oh, no.

Harrison may end up retiring, but I wouldn't mind bringing him back for one more year in a reduced role and salary.

Sounds like Hampton wants to come back and I hope he does.

What would Charger fans do if Andy Reid was hired as HC, Norv rehired as OC, and Rivera brought back as DC?

I'm not sure there's enough drugs for somebody to take to allow Ferentz to have a head coaching job. I think his time frame as a coach at the NFL level has passed. Iowa might rejoice with him being gone as it gets them out underneath from his contract, and it gives them fresh blood.

Ken Whisenhunt should be fired as the coach of my beloved Cardinals. The gamble on Kevin Kolb failed (though it might not have if he wasn't injured). They gave up the most sacks this season after giving up the second most sacks last season. GM Ron Graves should be following him out the door. If Whiz stays-Graves and the Offensive Line/Coordinator should also be gone.

Bears have fired Lovie Smith according to NFL network

Edit: And they speculated he would go to Arizona if Whisenhunt is fired. Ugh.

Forgot this thread was here.

Lots of people getting fired this morning.

Jets GM is out.
Rexy gets to stay, grr.
Browns GM & HC is out.
Chiefs HC is out.
Jaguars GM is out.
Eagles HC is out.

Rumors that Chargers GM & HC are out, too.

Bills HC is out.

There's lots of firing going on this year, more than years in the past I think.

Don't share the hate for Lovie that other Bears fans have, but it's time for him to go. No way we should have the same team issues for this long. Our O line has kept us from being a yearly playoff team. With a better line, I think Cutler, Forte, and the guys would've been more productive which would've helped our D be even more effective.

Four times in nine years the bears had a top ten defense under lovie. The other years the bears had the 13th, 16th, 16th, 21st and 14th defenses. Contrary to popular belief, the Bears have not had consistently great defenses under him despite him having a defensive background. Plus only three playoff appearances in nine years.

It partly falls on the GM as well. OL and WR have been an issue for the Bears for some time, and they never seem to make either a draft priority.

To be fair, Emery took steps in solving the WR issue this past offseason. Marshall is Marshall, and Alshon Jeffery looks like he can become a very good receiver, if he stays healthy. Though I strongly disagree with the 1st round pick of McClellan and would have preferred a OL there, Emery's year 1 moves were not bad, and light years better than Angelo.

O-Line, however...god. Blow it up.

But how much of the bad defenses were ones that started off playing well, then were either decimated by injuries or run down in the second half of the season because they were on the field too long due to the offense not being able to sustain drives? This year's D was the same way.

Bears need a smart offensive mind, not necessarily as HC but as OC to compete with GB. Mike Tice, Mike Martz, Ron Turner all bad, get someone good this time. Hire Kyle Shanahan as HC, there's enough talent there to lure someone good. O-line needs to be addressed.

The Colts, Vikings, Seahawks and Redskins have all shown that a bad team can be turned into a playoff team in one year. You have to have the right HC/QB combo or a RB like AP.

Glad Gailey is gone, now they need to bring someone in that actually has an understanding of the game and is willing to make changes.

Bears problem was putting in offensive coordinators that had the league pass them by 10+ years ago. That's on Lovie and he deserved to be fired.

Hard to tell if he would be interested, but if so, you'd think Cowher could call his own shot in a lot of these places. Either oversee or even manage personnel, bring aboard his own staff, and so forth. not sure what he wants in life, but if coaching remains on the list, my guess is he'd be attractive to teams like CLE or BUF.

I would love to see Cowher here in BUF, but I don't see that. I could see the organization doing something stupid, like promoting the Stache to HC...

IRT to QS/Chip Kelly.

Well, he was offered the Bucs job and he didn't accept it...so clearly he's not interseted in being a pro football coach.

A ton of openings. My best guesses on some who will get hired:

Chip Kelley
Andy Reid
Lovie Smith
Jon Gruden
Mike McCoy

That's only 5 of the potential 10 or so jobs by the time this is all done.

Other candidates I have heard:

Josh McDaniels
Nick Saban (Cleveland job) (highly doubt it)
Kirk LaFrenz (don't see it)
Mike Zimmer
Bruce Arians
Bill O'Brian
Jack DelRio
Greg Roman
Kyle Shanahan
Jay Gruden
Dirk Koeter
Bill Cowher
Ken Whisenhunt

My beloved Cards fire Whisenhunt and GM Graves. In one sense sad to see Whiz go-got my team to the Super Bowl and nearly won it, but he and the GM have made a lot of moves that just have not worked out and it was time to let them go.

No. I'm moving my truck to block his street so he can't move. It would suck to lose him or Nolan after one year.
