Napa Valley's García Collects April Batting Honor
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: Amor García battered Continental League pitchers all April and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 32-year-old García told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 26 games, García hit .340 with 7 home runs, 24 RBIs and scored 17 runs.


Davis Garners RL Batter of the Month Award
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 32-year-old Jeffery Davis put together a solid offensive month for Ann Arbor and was crowned April's top batter in the Republic League.

He batted .348 with 6 home runs, 10 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Stevens Nets CL #1 Pitcher Award
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: Veteran Walt Stevens put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Brooklyn Brownstones, earning himself the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

Stevens racked up a 3-0 record in 5 starts, posting a 1.59 ERA over 39.2 innings and striking out 32.


April's #1 Hurler Announced: López
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: Gabriel López has made fans throughout Front Office Offseason League take notice over the past month with an exceptional 5-0 record. No pitcher in the Republic League threw better in April, garnering him the Pitcher of the Month award today.

In 5 starts López compiled a 2.63 ERA, putting up a 5-0 record, striking out 35 and tossing 37.2 innings.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: Jorge Pérez's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Brooklyn catcher has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In April he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .458 with 3 doubles, no triples and 2 home runs. Pérez also scored 10 times and drove in 5 runs.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Wednesday, May 1st, 2165: A veritable toddler to the Republic League, George Gibbs just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for April.

Carl Beaudoin is May's #1 Hitter in CL
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: The vote is in and Carl Beaudoin, the 27-year-old third baseman for Brooklyn, is the winner. Today he was honored with the Continental League Batter of the Month award.

In May, Beaudoin wowed voters with a .377 average while posting up 9 home runs, 26 RBIs, 21 runs scored and a .433 on-base percentage.

In this current campaign Beaudoin is hitting at a .376 clip with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs.


Davis Wins RL Batter of the Month
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: Jeffery Davis earned May's Batter of the Month honors in the Republic League by reeling off a .298 average, going 31 for 104 with 9 home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 runs scored.

The soon-to-be free agent was hitting with great urgency in an effort to bolster his asking price in the Ann Arbor clubhouse and around the rest of the league.

This year Davis has batted at a .321 pace with 63 hits, 15 home runs, 34 RBIs and scored 36 times.

Winter Wolves Rosa Wins CL Best Hurler Honor
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: Esteban Rosa was the anchor in the Halifax bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for May. The 29-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 12 innings over 11 relief appearances and collected a 3-0 record with 11 strikeouts and 7 saves while etching his 3.00 ERA.

To date in the season, Rosa is 3-1 with 20 relief appearances and 10 saves. He has held opposing batters to a .303 average, pitched 20 innings, struck out 22 and walked 12 while recording a 4.95 ERA.


Oprel Chosen May's Best RL Hurler
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: Whether Reginald Oprel stays in Colorado beyond this season remains to be seen, but while he's here he's making the most of it. In May the 37-year-old certainly pulled out all the stops by winning the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

He put up some fancy numbers with a 4-1 record and and an ERA of 2.68. In 40.1 innings he struck out 33, surrendered 30 hits, 6 walks and proved to be a solid performer in 5 starts last month.

Oprel has made 11 starts, tossed 85.2 innings, struck out 63 batters and walked 12. His record is 6-3 with a 2.73 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .202 batting average.

Baltimore's Elliott CL Rookie of Month
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: Jim Elliott earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Baltimore center fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Elliott hit .324 with 2 home runs, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This season Elliott has hit at a .311 clip with 20 RBIs, 2 home runs and 30 runs scored.


Hartford Newcomer May's #1 Rookie
Saturday, June 1st, 2165: Youngster George Gibbs emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Hartford deserved the honor, batting .400 with no home runs and 10 runs batted in. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Gibbs enjoy the limelight.

This season Gibbs is batting .355 with 2 home runs. He has scored 46 runs and driven in 22.

Monday, July 1st, 2165: George Johnson, the Noblesville first baseman, certainly made a name for himself this past month. He banged out a .385 batting average with 40 hits, 8 home runs, 26 RBIs and scored 18 times.

That kind of hitting earned him the Continental League Batter of the Month honors for June.

Johnson is currently hitting at a .345 pace with 19 home runs and 64 RBIs.


Moreno Captures RL Batter of Month Award
Monday, July 1st, 2165: Today Víctor Moreno was voted Republic League Batter of the Month for July. During the month the 29-year-old Hartford right fielder compiled a .291 batting average.

Most importantly for the Riverhawks though, he also posted 8 home runs, 23 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

Presently Moreno is hitting .300 with 18 home runs and 71 RBIs. He has played in 76 games and scored 56 times.

Moore CL Winner, Top Hurler in June
Monday, July 1st, 2165: Tanner Moore took home the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors in June. After all these years playing ball, the 35-year-old veteran still enjoys the game as though he'd just broken camp for the first time a month ago. He's a bit older now with a few more aches and pains, but the old man has reason to celebrate, having gone 5-1 for Baltimore last month and claiming the Pitcher of the Month award.

He tacked up a 1.97 ERA in his 6 starts, tossing 45.2 innings and striking out 37.

To date this season Moore has compiled a 10-1 record with a 2.03 ERA in 16 starts.


Republic League Premier Pitcher is Martel
Monday, July 1st, 2165: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Lucien Martel still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in June. The 29-year-old starter for Colorado was named Republic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 4 wins and 1 loss with 23 strikeouts in his 5 starts, putting up a fine 1.70 ERA in 37 innings of work.

This season Martel has compiled a 9-4 record with a 2.78 ERA.

Noblesville Rookie Biggest Vote-Getter in CL
Monday, July 1st, 2165: Pedro Correa is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In June the Noblesville hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .303 average with 27 hits, 6 home runs and 20 RBIs.

For the season, Correa is hitting at a .278 clip with 11 home runs, 40 RBIs and has scored 41 runs. He has 72 hits, 25 walks and a .362 on-base percentage.


Rookie Rapper Reaps RL Honors
Monday, July 1st, 2165: George Gibbs was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old center fielder definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen June's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Gibbs batted .291 for Hartford, slapping 30 hits in 103 at-bats with no home runs, drove in 5 runs and scored 17 times.

For the season Gibbs is currently batting .333 with 2 home runs and 27 RBIs. In 73 games he has reached base at a .398 rate and scored 63 runs to date.

Woods Claims CL Batter of the Month Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: Nobody was better with the bat in July!
Curt Woods caught everyone's attention with some hot hitting and today he came away with the Batter of the Month award.

Cleveland's third baseman put together a solid month with a .340 batting average, 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

This year Woods is hitting .248 with 28 home runs.


RL's #1 Batter Announced
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: Hot-hitting left fielder Víctor Moreno of the Riverhawks really pounded Republic League pitchers in July, winning the Batter of the Month award.

He hit .427 with 6 home runs, 20 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 29 walks to finish with a .567 on-base percentage.

On the year Moreno is hitting .329 with 129 hits, 24 home runs, 91 RBIs, .432 OBP and has scored 84 runs.

Gothams Starter Wins CL Pitching Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: As Kichisaburo Nakamura hoisted up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month trophy for July, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave Baltimore once his contract is up at the end of the season.

Nakamura put pressure on the Gothams to keep him around by posting a 3-1 record and an ERA of 2.22 over 28.1 innings last month. He also rolled up 17 strikeouts, increasing his value both to Baltimore and to every other team in the league.

This season Nakamura has worked 125 innings with 72 strikeouts en route to a 6-8 record and a 3.24 ERA.


Hartford Starter Wins July's Pitcher Award
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: Mun-yeong Chong's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 5-0 in July, the 30-year-old Hartford hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 33 in 42 innings, logged an ERA of 4.07 and allowed opponents to hit .277 against him.

Checking out his stats for the season, Chong has registered 13 wins and 5 losses in 21 starts, 4.43 ERA and struck out 97 batters in 142.1 innings.

Correa Wins Rookie of the Month
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: The Continental League Rookie of the Month trophy has been awarded to Pedro Correa of the Noblesville Millers.

In July he played in 20 games, recording a .382 batting average with 4 home runs, 11 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

For the year Correa has hit .301 with 15 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 58 runs.


Hartford Center Fielder July's Premier Rookie
Thursday, August 1st, 2165: George Gibbs was acclaimed the Republic League Rookie of the Month for his fine play in July.

The 23-year-old Hartford center fielder hit .330, swatted 1 home run and drove in 14 runs. He also tagged 33 hits, scored 18 runs and picked up 8 walks for a .412 on-base percentage.

Ray Top Hitter in CL in August
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: Craig Ray received the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy earlier today for his efforts at the plate this last month.

"He might be getting older," Cleveland's manager told reporters, "But he's been around long enough to know what it takes to put a stretch such as this together... and he doesn't keep that to himself. He's always talking to the younger guys in the clubhouse helping 'em any way they'll let him. Craig's value to our team goes farther than the numbers he puts up on the field."

To win the honor Ray put up a .333 batting average, 12 home runs, 38 RBIs and scored 28 times in August.

Ray is swinging at a .325 pace on the year with 28 home runs, 101 RBIs and 99 runs scored. He has played in 127 games.


RL's Top Hitter Named
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: When it came to hitting the baseball, Harvey Homer had few Republic League peers in August. The center fielder for Ann Arbor mauled opposing pitchers for a .370 batting average and was voted the league's best batter for the month.

He finished with some strong stats: 11 home runs, 29 RBIs, 25 runs scored, 13 walks and a .441 on-base percentage.

This season Homer has 28 home runs and a .283 batting average.

August's Pitcher of the Month Goes to Sánchez
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: In August when the Cleveland manager wrote the name "Sánchez" on the lineup card, he knew he had a good shot at winning. Start after start in the month, Luis Sánchez took the hill, took charge and usually got the win.

He dominated with a 4-0 mark and 1.89 ERA in 6 starts. The gifted Cyclones star pitched 38 innings, fanned 38 and held opposing teams to a .203 average.

For his outstanding mound performance Sánchez was named the CL Pitcher of the Month by the baseball writers.

So far this season Sánchez has a 11-7 record, 26 starts, 160.1 innings, 156 strikeouts and a 3.42 ERA.


Trevino Collects RL Pitching Award
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: António Trevino is at the zenith of his career and today he was selected as the Republic League Pitcher of the Month for August.

He made 13 relief appearances for Toronto last month, throwing 14 innings and collecting 12 saves, a 0-0 record, 8 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.

So far this season Trevino has chalked up a 3.02 ERA with 30 saves. In 49 relief appearances he has registered a 3-3 won-lost record and struck out 46 batters in 56.2 innings, while walking 14. He has allowed teams to hit .276 against him.

CL Names Vokey Best Rookie
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: It was an excellent month for George Vokey. He really swung into action! The shortstop for the Noblesville Millers was named August's best newcomer in the Continental League.

He captured the honor by hitting .293 with 34 hits, 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

Currently Vokey is hitting .233 and has collected 18 home runs, 61 RBIs and scored 86 times, while playing in 127 games.


RL Names Rookie of the Month
Sunday, September 1st, 2165: Jamie Lawson certainly made his presence felt in the Republic League in August. The gifted second baseman for Colorado ripped opposing pitchers for a .377 batting average and was the top votegetter for the Rookie of the Month trophy.

He won it by going 43-114 in 29 games with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Lawson is currently batting .284 with 13 home runs and 74 RBIs.

CL's Best Batter Selected
Tuesday, October 1st, 2165: George Johnson, the Noblesville first baseman, had a productive month in September. He put up some solid numbers with a .396 batting average (40 for 101), 9 home runs, 23 RBIs and 28 runs scored.

That standout offense earned him the Continental League Batter of the Month Trophy.

Looking at his present stats, Johnson has compiled a .347 batting average in 153 games with a .433 on-base percentage, while hitting 37 home runs and driving in 117 runs.


Toronto's Morín Bags RL Batting Award

García Stands Out, Choice for Best Pitcher
Tuesday, October 1st, 2165: When Jesús García takes the mound, a Apex victory is usually the result. That was the the case in September.

That's why he was voted the Continental League Pitcher of the Month.

García throttled league hitters the whole month with an impressive 5-1 mark and 2.81 ERA in 6 starts. The Assassins star hurler also rung up 21 strikeouts in 41.2 innings.

This year García has a 15-9 mark in 30 starts with a 3.18 ERA. He has given up 202 hits in 221 innings, struck out 120 and issued 64 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .242 batting average against him.

Tuesday, October 1st, 2165: António Rodríguez has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in September and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Bees bullpen ace collected 12 saves and 11 strikeouts in 12 innings, holding the opposition to a .213 average and posting a 2.25 ERA and a 1-0 record.

Tuesday, October 1st, 2165: In September Rafael Durán swatted his way to the Rookie of the Month Award in the Continental League by putting up a .403 batting average.

The Brooklyn Brownstones right fielder also racked up 25 hits, 4 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 12 runs.

Durán currently has a .323 batting average with 131 hits, 12 homers, 43 RBIs, 59 runs scored and a .385 OBP.
