2029 Month 2

Owen Hunter, PG, Chicago: Another 37 days before Owen is back.

Dan Ertmann, PG, Indiana: Dan is playing regular minutes off the bench for the Pacers and starts another 4 more games this month. With more playing time, it's likely Dan could average at least 10-5-5.

21 GP, 7 GS: 25.0 MPG, 8.1 PPG, 4.0 APG, 3.3 RPG

Travis Elkin, PF, Charlotte: Travis isn't being relied on as much to score this year and his numbers have dropped as a result. He's only 4th in scoring on the team but this has allowed him to step up in other areas such as rebounds (1st), steals (2nd) and blocks (1st).

26 GP, 26 GS: 11.8 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 2.8 APG, 1.3 SPG, 2.5 BPG

Jeeber D Mack, PF, Houston: D Mack's playing time goes up slightly this month. The Sonics will be hoping D Mack can eventually play 34-38 minutes a game.

27 GP, 27 GS: 27.4 MPG, 8.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 2.2 APG

John Williams, C, Indiana: The Big Guy is unhappy and his agents are seeking a trade opportunity. The Pacers have reacted by starting the Big Guy in 8 out of 14 games this month but all indications are that the Big Guy wants out of Indiana because he feels he has been misled.

25 GP, 13 GS: 26.0 MPG, 7.1 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.7 BPG

Danny Wilson, C, Seattle: It's amazing Danny is still playing semi-regular minutes for the Sonics, considering how little production he's giving them. Still, he must be doing something right if he gets about 19 minutes a game.

23 GP, 2 GS: 18.9 MPG, 2.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.8 APG

Neuqua, SG, New York: A slight drop in minutes for Neuqua but he continues to play well for the Knicks. The good thing is that Neuqua appears to have moved into the starting line-up for the Knicks.

27 GP, 15 GS: 29.5 MPG, 12.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.1 SPG

Rob Nielsen, SF, New Orleans: Will this be an All-Star season for Rob Nielsen? He's playing at a completely different level from the rest of the rookie class of 2026, averaging 20 points and nearly 8 rebounds a game.

29 GP, 29 GS: 36.5 MPG, 20.4 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.3 BPG

Tim Moungey, PG, New Orleans: TM continues to try to prove himself in New Orleans as he's playing for a new contract, whether here or somewhere else. He's getting limited minutes though so it'll be interesting to see what happens.

23 GP, 0 GS: 17 MPG, 4.6 PPG, 1.8 RPG, 3.1 APG

AJ Tucker, SF, Minnesota: So AJ continues to have a regular spot in the rotation for the T-wolves. If he continues to develop, there's hope for a starting spot for him yet.

25 GP, 1 GS: 18.5 MPG, 5.4 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 1.3 APG

Zippo, PG, Minnesota: Zippo is just playing out his contract and collecting the dough now. An odd decision by the T-wolves may have ruined his career. Maybe a trade would be a good thing.

12 GP, 0 GS: 7.2 MPG, 1.6 PPG

Mike Tokunaga, PG, Free Agent: Still on the free-agent list, no love for MT yet.

2029 Month 3

Owen Hunter, PG, Chicago: 5 more days before Owen is back from his long injury. The Bulls have suffered in his absence, going 18-21. They're hoping Owen can re-energise the team and lead them back to the play-offs.

Dan Ertmann, PG, Indiana: To be honest, it's unclear why PG Ishmael Crowley is still starting at this point. However, to be fair, it's clear the coach is asking Ishmael and Dan to share the minutes relatively evenly (28.9 MPG to 24.9 MPG). The Pacers are still mediocre however, with an 18-22 record.

36 GP, 7GS: 24.9 MPG, 8.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG, 3.9 APG

Travis Elkin, PF, Charlotte: Mr Dependable continues to bring it every night. However, Charlotte's 11-29 record continues to raise questions whether Travis and his fellow Turk Jemal Goyman (SF, 5/5) were the right people to build around.

40 GP, 40 GS: 34.6 MPG, 12.8 PPG, 9.1 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.1 SPG, 2.3 BPG

Jeeber D Mack, PF, Houston: Jeeber continues to improve in his knowledge of the game. They say big men take more time to mature. Maybe that'll prove to be true in D Mack's case. Houston is doing badly however, with a 12-30 record.

42 GP, 41 GS: 27.1 MPG, 7.6 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 2.1 APG

John Williams, C, Indiana: Big Guy continues to alternate starting with John Willis. This won't last much longer as the rumours are flying that a trade is in the works.

40 GP, 19 GS: 25.9 MPG, 7.6 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.5 BPG

Danny Wilson, C, Seattle: Seattle's critics continue to question why Danny is getting regular minutes since he doesn't seem to produce much. This coupled with Seattle's poor record (17-22) lends credence to this criticism.

38 GP, 7 GS: 21.1 MPG, 3.6 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.9 APG

Neuqua, SG, New York: 13 games played, 13 games started in month 3. Neuqua is slowly finding his rhythm in the league and justifying why he was the No. 9 pick in 2026. The problems with Neuqua is that he's a streaky shooter ... and he doesn't pass the ball well. The Knicks are 23-18 so far.

40 GP, 28 GS: 31.5 MPG, 14.0 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.0 SPG

Rob Nielsen, SF, New Orleans: Rob keeps his numbers somewhat consistent and it's clear the citizen of New Orleans love their No. 40. Will he get recognition this year as one of the best SF's in the league?

42 GP, 42 GS: 36.5 MPG, 20.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.1 BPG

Tim Moungey, PG, New Orleans: TM has gotten injured and this will not help him. Back spasms will sideline him for 12 days and he's likely to miss at least 5 games on the IR.

31 GP, 0 GS: 14.9 MPG, 4.0 PPG, 1.5 RPG, 2.8 APG

AJ Tucker, SF, Minnesota: The T-wolves doctors have confirmed that AJ Tucker broke his foot and will be out for 50 days.

33 GP, 1 GS: 16.5 MPG, 4.9 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.1 APG

Zippo, PG, Minnesota: Zippo continues to languish on the T-wolves bench this year.

21 GP, 1 GS: 9.2 MPG, 1.8 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 1.2 APG

Mike Tokunaga, PG, Free Agent: Still on the FA list this month.

2029 Month 4

Owen Hunter, PG, Chicago: The Chicago management decided to take it easy with Owen Hunter, letting him rehab for one more month before taking him off the IR. The anticipation of Owen returning has driven the Bulls to play better and they are now 28-24, going 10-3 in month 4 and they are well positioned to be in the playoffs.

Dan Ertmann, PG, Indiana: Dan continues to be the Robin to Ishmael's Robin. Of course, bearing in mind Ishmael is a 11 year veteran, Dan may be being groomed to take over next season. Indiana is at 23-27 so far, a 5-5 split in Month 4.

46 GP, 7 GS: 24.6 MPG, 8.7 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 3.8 APG

Travis Elkin, PF, Charlotte: Charlotte's record is 16-36 now, as they went 5-7 in Month 4. One wonders whether the record might have been slightly better because Travis missed 3 of these games with a slight injury.

49 GP, 49 GS: 34.6 MPG, 12.5 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 2.2 BPG

Jeeber D Mack, PF, Houston: D Mack has been consistent this year. However, he's only been consistently decent so more will be expected of him as time passes. Houston is 17-37, 5-7 this month.

54 GP, 53 GS: 28.0 MPG, 8.2 PPG, 7.6 RPG, 2.4 APG, 1.0 SPG

John Williams, C, Indiana: The last days for the Big Guy in Indiana draw near. The trade for Dan Ertmann looks like it's a bust for Indiana now because they're going to lose the Big Guy due to their own odd management decisions.

50 GP, 21 GS: 26.4 MPG, 7.3 PPG, 7.7 RPG, 1.4 APG, 1.6 BPG

Neuqua, SG, New York: Neuqua is now firmly entrenched as the starting 2-guard for the Knicks. His scoring average continues to rise as a result and the Knicks investment is paying off. The Knicks are now 30-24 and they went 7-6 this month.

53 GP, 41 GS: 32.2 MPG, 14.7 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.0 SPG, 1.0 BPG

Rob Nielsen, SF, New Orleans: And Rob Nielsen finally gets his due recognition as he was named to the All-Star game as a reserve for the Western Conference. Sure, he didn't get to play a single minute but at least he's an All-Star. A big pay day is coming ...

52 GP, 52 GS: 36.5 MPG, 20.3 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.8 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.2 BPG

Tim Moungey, PG, New Orleans: TM comes back from his injury and plays 9 games in month 4. The general consensus about TM is that he won't develop into a star (3/3.5) but he will be a capable starter if he's given the chance. The Hornets are 40-13 after the All-Star Break.

34 GP, 0 GS: 15.0 MPG, 4.2 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 2.7 APG

AJ Tucker, SF, Minnesota: Out for 11 more days with a broken foot.

33 GP, 1 GS: 16.5 MPG, 4.9 PPG, 2.6 RPG, 1.1 APG

Zippo, PG, Minnesota: So Zippo will look at this as yet another wasted season. At least he's being paid for it.

25 GP, 1 GS: 8.2 MPG, 1.8 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 1.0 APG

Mike Tokunaga, PG, Free Agent: Still no love.

NBA.com:

A 3-team trade took place prior to the trading deadline, involving the Wizards, the Pacers and the Magic.

The Wizards got Centre John "Big Guy" Williams (3/3.5) and SF Will Carey (2.5/2.5) from Indiana. The Wizards also got SG Willie Obrien (5/5) from the Magic along with the Magic first round picks in 2030 and 2032.

The Pacers got PF Matt Hancock (3.5/3.5) from the Wizards, along with 2 2nd round picks.

The Magic got C Fletcher Crawford (5/5) from the Wizards and SF Charles Lucius (2.5/3).

Analysis:
Well, the Wizards take a big risk by trading away All-Star centre Fletcher Crawford for SG Willie Obrien. These were the key pieces in the trade IMO. However, the Wizards also got a lot more out of it by obtaining young centre John Williams and 2 first round picks. It sets the Wizards in a good position for the future.

The Pacers lost a promising big man in John Williams, who had steadily become disgruntled in Indiana. In return, they get a 10 year PF who can still play good basketball and 2 2nd round picks.

The Magic are taking a risk with this trade. They traded away the future for immediate success. With this trade, they lose a talented SG but let's not forget the Magic had Rob Farrell (5/5) available to pay 2-guard as well. What's impressive is the Magic big-men now as they field Owen Dixon (5/5) and Fletcher Crawford (5/5). This just may push the Magic into serious contention for the NBA title.

Rob Nielsen didn't need to play in the All Star game. His mere presence sold 50,000 more tickets.

And he coached.

The Big Guy wants to thank the Pacers Management for trading him to a team that will start him.

Only a capable starter? I say that's a load of bull. I *will* become an All-Star before my career is over. You can count on that. New Orleans needs to recognize that I need to be the starter or I'll go somewhere else after this year.

So question ... clearly MT and/or Zippo aren't going to have much of a career in the league. Should I continue with them till they retire? Or bring in 2 fresh rooks?

Up to you...but I guess if my career is pretty much over, no point following it any longer.

2029 Last Stretch

Owen Hunter, PG, Chicago: The No. 1 Draft Pick comes roaring back into action with a vengeance. He shows he hasn't lost anything as a result of his injury and was even named NBA Player of the Week in Week 21. Chicago ends the season 49-33 and are the 3rd seeds in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.

27 GP, 25 GS: 36.5 MPG, 18.8 PPG, 4.6 RPG, 7.2 APG, 1.0 SPG

Dan Ertmann, PG, Indiana: An injury to Ishmael Crowley (broken arm) allows Dan to claim the starting spot for the last third of the season. Unfortunately, the Pacers did not make the Playoffs with a 35-47 record.

78 GP, 28 GS: 27.5 MPG, 9.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 4.5 APG

Travis Elkin, PF, Charlotte: And the Bobcats miss the Playoffs again with a horrible 26-46 record, last in the Eastern Conference. The Bobcats will be wondering what they have to do to push the team to the next level.

79 GP, 79 GS: 33.4 MPG, 11.7 PPG, 9.0 RPG, 2.3 APG, 1.0 SPG, 2.2 BPG

Jeeber D Mack, PF, Houston: Say what you will about D Mack's lack of stamina, the fact remains that his numbers are somewhat comparable to those of Travis Elkin. D Mack looks to be a dependable big man for the Rockets for a long time to come. The Rockets went 31-51 and will not make the Playoffs.

75 GP, 74 GS: 28.6 MPG, 8.8 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 2.5 APG, 1.0 SPG

John Williams, C, Washington: The Big Guy plays 31 games for the Wizards since the trade and starts all of them. In this period, he averages 30.6 MPG, 7.5 PPG, 1.9 APG, 8.3 RPG and 2.2 BPG, not really stellar numbers. The Wizards are building for the future and that's reflected with their 29-53 record.

81 GP, 52 GS: 28.0 MPG, 7.4 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.8 BPG

Danny Wilson, C, Seattle: Danny actually ends up as the starter for the Sonics at the end of the season. This is a Sonics franchise in transition if they're starting Danny (2.5/3) and their record (28-54) is indicative of that.

80 GP, 33 GS: 23.1 MPG, 4.0 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.2 APG

Neuqua, SG, New York: Neuq's first season as a semi-regular starter turns out well for him. He's clearly a scorer and the Knicks will hope he can turn into a regular 20 pt scorer next year. The Knicks (46-36) are the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference.

80 GP, 67 GS: 32.4 MPG, 15.2 PPG, 5.0 RPG, 1.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, 1.1 BPG

Rob Nielsen, SF, New Orleans: The new All-Star leads the Hornets to the League's best record (62-20) and the city is hoping for more from the team in the Playoffs.

70 GP, 70 GS: 36.0 MPG, 19.8 PPG, 7.3 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.6 SPG, 1.3 BPG

Tim Moungey, PG, New Orleans: And it looks like TM's time in New Orleans is drawing to a close. He'll be wondering if he'll be picked up again next season by a team needing a decent PG.

49 GP, 0 GS: 13.7 MPG, 3.9 PPG, 1.4 RPG, 2.5 APG

AJ Tucker, SF, Minnesota: AJ's season comes to a close quietly. He's still waiting for a real chance to prove himself but the question is whether that will ever occur in Minnesota. The T-wolves are 37-45 this year, no playoffs for them.

50 GP, 1 GS: 14.6 MPG, 4.4 PPG, 2.4 RPG

Zippo, PG, Minnesota: Wasting away on the bench isn't doing Zippo any good.

31 GP, 1 GS: 7.1 MPG, 1.5 PPG, 1.1 RPG

Mike Tokunaga, PG, Free Agent: Retirement is definitely being contemplated by MT.
