I posted this last night but it isnt showing up...thank god i save these to be safe:

It's time for me to go over the Defense.

Defensive Ends (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Tim Woodson (RS/Jr)(7/9) - Well, thats one way to start the season. Certainly the star of the game with his stellar play. 7 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 hurry, and 3 forced fumbles....We asked if our DEs could make up for our terrible DTs, and if Woodson is a sign the answer is yes.
Spencer Scott (So)(6/9) - 2 tackles and 2 sacks in a game shortened by injury, scott looks like a nice comliment to woodson
Grady Lawson (Jr)(4/8) - 2 tackles and a sack in mop-up duty

Notes: Can you say SCORE? This unit had a wonderful game, got to the QB which was a key to stopping their attack, and in general did everything we asked them to and more.

Defensive Tackle (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Keith Patton (Jr)(2/6) - Picked up a fumble...and thats it...

Notes: Not a single one registered a stat(recovered fumble aside)...its like they didnt even play...i knew they would be bad, but not even one tackle?? Maybe the DEs took em all, or maybe their that bad

Inside Linebacker (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Brandon Crow: (Sr)(6/6) - 7 tackles, a stf(stuff?), a hurry, a fumble recovery, but most importantly a 63 yard INT return for TD..solid game, great TD return and a wonderful job shoring up the middle
Noah Brinker (So)(4/7) - 7 tackles, and an INT to boot...great game

Notes: Im happy, and you should be too. Cant ask for much more from your guys.

Outside Linebacker (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Alonzo Darius: (Sr)(8/8) - 13 tackles, 3 hurries, and two pass defenses. We knew he would be our rock, and he was. No one was even close to his tackle total, and he made some great sidline to sidline plays
Richie Scrabis: (Jr)(4/5) - 1 tackle...Just like we knew Alonzo would be our rock we knew Richie would drag us down a bit. Hopefully he picks it up.

Notes: Darius had a great game, should be a conference 1st teamer at the end of year if he plays like this. Scrabis will be 1st cut if he keeps playing like this

Cornerback (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Adrian Thomas: (RS/So)(5/6) - 4 tackles and a good game limiting the opposing team passing wise. Did well, but didnt blow anyone away
Mark White: (Sr)(4/4) - 1 tackle, but 2 passes defended...another average game from our corner
Gari Sikahema: (So)(2/6) - 2 tackles and a pick, the best game of any of our corners

Notes: Average at best. They bended, but never broke. Hopefully they improve over the season or a team dedicated to passing could tear us apart.

Free Safety (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Winslow Sharp: (So)(3/5) - 5 tackles, more then expected. He didnt cost us too much, which is all were asking him.

Notes: We never expected much from Sharp, and he did ok

Strong Safety (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Ladainian Lansford (Sr)(6/6) - 9 tackles, great job in run support and should help all seaon

Notes: Did wonderful, lets hope he keeps it up

Final Notes: Well DE tore it up, and 3 of our 4 LBs did great too. Lansford did awesome at SS. For all those though, DT, the 4th LB, the CBs, and the FS all played poorly. Its a nice win, but much work must be done on D over this season for us to do well. Hopefully playmakes like woodson and darius keep it up!

Strengths & weaknesses

Offense: The Commodores run a Balanced offense and rely on QB Clarence Hambrick. The OL is a capable unit. While C David Brown is a nice player, the whole group will beed to improve its overall form and technique to be successful.

Defense: The Commodores also run a 3-4 defense and rely on CB Walter Morgan. Their DBs makeup the team's top defensive until and one that will be under a lot of pressure this season. They hae the talent to carry the defense for stretches, but not for the entire season.

The Commodores are run by Head Coach Bobby Hicks who's been coaching for 14 years. This team has some weapons and we should really see just how good or bad the defense is.

Key matchup:

Troy front seven. The Trojans defense has held opponents to just 105 rushing yards per game and ranks No. 37 against the run nationally.

Vanderbilt RB Wes Griffin. Griffin has carried the ball 21 times for 134 yards (6.38 ypc) with 2 rushing touchdowns. He has created no big runs on his own and averages 134 yards per game.

Sigh.

On the other hand, we did have a good game passing.

-------------

I played the demo, and enjoyed it. Seemed a little quirky at times. I can't recall the situation, but there was a situation where the game was tied near the end of regulation, and instead of at least trying for a field goal, the team punted instead.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'll probably get the game if/when I ever upgrade my current computer or get a new one.

Game 2 - Press Conference

Coach V: Well, too little to late. We saw what a good RB can do against a patchwork DL. Griffin was busting through our defensive front with ease and gained 153 yards on 35 carries. Vandy new our weakness and exploited it. If our LBs don't help out, teams will run all over us.

Josh Cooper: Coach V, I noticed backup QB Cedric Smith played most of the game and I wondered if there is a QB controversy?

Coach V: Staroba couldn't do anything against the Vandy defense, so I took him out and gave Smith a change to show me something. Smith looked good, so as of right now, Smith gets the start next week. I always go with the hot player and I'm not afraid to use multiple QBs.

Ray Melink: Coach V, quick two game assessment.

Coach V: We need to run the ball MUCH better. We also need to help out the DTs as much as possible. We have a long way to go, but I still feel good about this team. Thank you.

Moderator: Thank you Coach.

Ill review tomorrow, but you said Spencer Scott would play and i dont see him on the stat list...either way, i dont think its all the bad since their SEC and didnt get blown out. Even bottom feeder SEC teams should kick our asses. Either way, lets hope we win our upcoming schedule. barring week 15 with air force, i see all our remaining games as winnable. To be 1-1 is far more then i expected right now, so bravo to the team despite the loss

MIDDLE TENNESSE STATE
(continued)

Offense: The Blue Raiders run a Run N Gun offense and rely on QB Charley Moore. The OL has some weak spots and struggles at times. OT Charlie George is their best option and most of the successful plays rely on his protection.

Defense: The Blue Raiders also run a 4-3 defense and rely on CB Michael Lopienski. Their defensive line is in a tough spot as it will be counted on all season. While this unit certainly gives a great effort, it simply lacks the talent to post much of a threat.

Key matchup

Middle Tenn St secondary.
The Blue Raiders defense has held opponents to just 185.7 passing yards per game and ranks No. 10 against the pass nationally.

Troy TE Tom Nix
Nix has caught 6 of 12 passes thrown his way for 82 yards and 1 touchdown. He's made 0 great catches and has averaged 13.7 yards per catch.

Offense: MTSU <<
Defense: Even
ST: Even
Overall: MTSU <

Line: Even

I don't know, MTSU really looks better than us talent wise and has a really good secondary. Smith gets his first start at QB and I hope his success continues. Should be a hard fought game though. We played well at home against Akron.

Haven't run into that yet, but I've read reports of it. So far, nothing unusual. I really like not having to mess with recruiting right now, allows me to concentrate more on my season.

Game 3 - Press Conference

Coach V: Hmmm.. as you can see, there's not a whole lot to say about this week or about this team. We started on a high and some promise, but 2 weeks later and I can't wait until recruiting starts. (smiles) Smith came out flat, threw 2 INTs, and I pulled him for Staroba. Don't let our 459 yards allowed fool you. Our defense was really good the first half, but when you have no offense, the defense gets fatigued rather quickly. I talk about every week, but we need to recruit a good HB. Once we establish a running game, the rest will open up. (sighs) Anything for me?

Josh Cooper: Coach V, you had such a great home opener victory against Akron, yet Middle Tennesse comes in here and dominates your team. What turned this game into a rout?

Coach V: We had no offense. Middle Tennesse State has a great secondary, so we wanted to run the ball out of the gate Once they saw we couldn't get anything going on the ground, they keyed on our QB and receivers. Game over, have a nice day.

Ray Melink: Coach V, would you say RB is your weakest position on the offense?

Coach V: Most definitly. Thanks.

Moderator: Thank you Coach.

NORTH TEXAS
(continued)

Head Coach: Rickey Simonton, 29 yrs exp

Offense: The Eagles run a Balanced offense and rely on QB Charlie Holmes. The OL has some weak spots and struggles at times. OG Art Coleman is their best option and most of the successful plays rely on his protection.

Defense: The Eagles also run a 4-3 defense and rely on ILB Tony Payne. The team looks to the DL to set the tone on defense. This group is up-and-down in its performance, but it should help cover some weakness in the defensive backfield.

Key matchup

Troy secondary
The Trojans defense has allowed opponents 244 passing yards per game and ranks No. 54 against the pass nationally.

North Texas WR James Schmidt
Schmidt has caught 11 of 27 passes thrown his way for 309 yards and 4 touchdowns. He's made great catches and has averaged 28.1 yards per catch.

Offense: UNT <<<<
Defense: TROY <<
ST: Even

Overall: Even

Line: North Texas (-8)

Well, without OLB Alonzo Darius (26 tack, 19 solo, 7 asst) in the lineup, Jr Gary English is going to have to step up.

Game 4 - Press Conference

Coach V: Has anyone seen my offense? I'm not going to say anything about our defense, even though our DTs have a grand total of 3 tackles and 1 sack this year.. nope. What I am going to say is Staroba is out for 2 months, so somebody is going to have to take this QB position and run with it.. although I presume it'll be a revolving door. When you hold a team to 13 points and can't win the game, you have problems. (pause) We have problems.

Ray Melink: Coach V, how do you plan to attack this enemic offense?

Coach V: Well Ray, when you look past our starters, you don't see much there. Call a spade a spade, if you will. Newsflash! we are NOT talented. It's nothing you or I don't know, but we'll have to find ways to win games. (shrugs shoulders)

Josh Cooper: Coach V, let's be truthful here. You knew coming in it was going to be tough. You're not getting discourage already?
Coach V: (laughs) Yes Josh, I plan on quitting as soon as this press conference is over. (crowd laughs) No, seriously.. when you have a bad team, all press conferences sound the same. We need to work on this, we need to recruit this position, etc. BUT by no means do I plan on going anywhere anytime soon. That's the part of coaching I like best... molding a team into your model of how a football program should run, period.

Thanks.

Moderator: Thank you coach.

Well, what to say...i guess we did a lot better against NT then MTSU....Maybe if Darius had played we could have won that...Woodson in my mind is ahead of darius for team MVP, but those two are by far the leaders....a healthy scott can play well too.

I think were at the point where we start targeting QBs, RBs, and other recruits to start next year

Don't forget about ILB Brandon Crow. He is #2 in tackles with 37, 30 of which are solo.

I agree though, recruiting can't come quick enough.

Wow, im impressed...he has had one more game then darius though...Darius for leading our defense in tackles, and woodson for leading in sacks but also forced fumbles...hes cause quite a few already this year.

From my knowledge, NT and MTSU are the best sun belt teams though, so who knows

Head Coach: Hanik Podoley, 21 yrs exp.

Offense: The Cajuns run a Run N Gun offense and rely on RB Matt Wilkins. The OL is a capable unit. While OT Ed Smith is a nice player, the whole group will need to improve its overall form and technique to be successful.

Defense: The Cajuns also run a 3-4 defense and rely on ILB Jonnie Johnson. They rely on their linebackers to carry the defense. The groups of LBs should be able to hold up against most opponents but could wear down as the season goes on.

Key matchup

Louisiana-Laf WR Atnaf Quayle - Quayle has caught 27 of 50 passes thrown his way for 426 yards and 6 touchdowns. He's made 3 great catches and has averaged 15.8 yards per catch.

Troy secondary - The Trojans defense has held opponents to just 219.2 passing yards per game and ranks No. 28 against the pass nationally.

Game 5 - Press Conference

Coach V: It wasn't pretty, but we managed a win. Smith looked great at QB and for now, I can focus on other areas - mainly stopping the run.

Ray Melink: Coach V, did you feel like the team was firing on offense? Many people thought WR Muhammad was just waiting for a chance to play, care to comment?

Coach V: We looked really good on offense today, and overall I'm happy. We could of had more success on the ground, but we finally passed well.

Josh Cooper: I don't really have much to add, one game at a time right? (smiles)
Coach V: (laughs) Yep, one game at a time.

Thanks.

It's time for me to go over the Defense.

Defensive Ends (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Tim Woodson (RS/Jr)(7/9) - Consistent threat, has played well even when rest of team hasnt...cant wait till next year when he and scott are develope more
Spencer Scott (So)(6/9) - Been hit or miss in an injury shortened year...he either challenges woodson for MVP or doesnt show up at all...lets hope he gets his head in the game every game
Grady Lawson (Jr)(4/8) - Has been a solid #3, usually good for at least 1 sack of the bench and a few takles

Notes: Ya, everything we asked for. Cant do much more then what they have done.

Defensive Tackle (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Joe Stramer (Sr)(3/3) - Uhhhh...ya...about that...
Keith Patton (Jr)(2/6) - Anyone have a fat son? Anybody could do better then these DTs...now that i think of it daughter too

Notes: Yup, everything we expected and less...i didnt know you could do this poorly. I pray to the football gods for some DT recruits.

Inside Linebacker (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Brandon Crow: (Sr)(6/6) - Solid play has him quietly helping to carry this defense
Noah Brinker (So)(4/7) - Wasnt expected to be the starter but has played his way in and has not looked back

Notes: SOLID..not much more to say, their making plays and tryin to cover up for the DTs

Outside Linebacker (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Alonzo Darius: (Sr)(8/8) - Injury shortened but dominant....hes done it all for us.
Richie Scrabis: (Jr)(4/5) - Very average...very
Gary English: (Jr)(3/6) - Has done ok for a backup, not great

Notes: Darius pulls up two weak players to make this average

Cornerback (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Adrian Thomas: (RS/So)(5/6) - OK, not shutting anyone down but playing ball
Mark White: (Sr)(4/4) - Getting picked on, not picking off
Gari Sikahema: (So)(2/6) - Why is he playing?
Rayfield Brown: (So)(2/6) - Why is he playing?

Notes: Ouch....after DTs this is a weak spot for us

Free Safety (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Winslow Sharp: (So)(3/5) - Has played far better then expected, im happy

Notes: ^^^^^

Strong Safety (Yr)(Ovr/Pot)

Ladainian Lansford (Sr)(6/6) - Played as well as expected, which is solid

Notes: Great in run support, but were getting passed all over

Final Notes: Were doing average at best...getting a healthy starting 11 would help, but i guess i should expect too much from this young squad. We should be much stronger next year

Offense: The Indians run a Vertical Passing offense and rely on TE Aaron McKelvey. The OL has some weak spots and struggles at times. C Samari Washington is their best option and most of the successful plays rely on his protection.

Defense: The Indians also run a 3-4 defense and rely on DE Bosley Pollard. Their LBs will try and lead what looks to be a poor defense this season. They don't have a great deal of talent and will probably struggle in most weeks.

Key matchup

RB Gary McGrew
McGrew has carried the ball 104 times for 331 yards (3.18 ypc) with 1 rushing touchdown. He has created 0 big runs on his own and averages 66.2 yards per game.

Front seven
The Indians defense has held opponents to just 109.8 rushing yards per game and ranks No. 18 against the run nationally.
