Friday Night Lights as Iowa travels to Maryland.

Maryland looks good early, but they always do until they run into the B1G teams

Yeah, yeah.

I think Vegas has the line right. Iowa 24-20.

34 at half is almost half of 76. Defense let me down giving up 7 already.

I didn't expect MD to do well, but I'm not sure I expected it to be quite this bad. Might not have been w/o that injury fumble.

I was really surprised with the spread. What was it, Maryland +3.5? That seemed WAY too low (easy to say now, but it seemed like a weird number).

Iowa's offense was suspect and lived off of turnovers.

How do you predict turnovers?

I would start predicting them when Iowa plays

Gotta give them credit when they deserve it. Best defense I have seen all year(I saw much of the Iowa St game as well) other than maybe Georgia and right there with Clemson.

They've played well so far, but I will reserve judgment until I see them play against a good team. Their first two wins against Indiana and Iowa State initially looked impressive, but not so much now. ISU is 2-2 after losing to Baylor, plus they almost lost to an FCS team in week one. Indiana is also 2-2 after losing to Cincinnati.

Next week against Penn State should tell a lot about how good Iowa really is. Can they continue on this path, or will they turn out to be like Ole Miss and Mississippi State in 2014 when everyone was penciling them into the playoffs midway through the season?

#16 Coastal Carolina stays at home this week to face Louisiana-Monroe and are 33 point favorites. Not sure what to make of Monroe as they did not play Coastal last season. They are coming into Conway with one win in the Sun Belt already beating Troy last week. They also lost by about 30 to Kentucky earlier this season, so that might be a better gauge for what to expect here.

There were still some tickets on sale in Athens last night. $100+ for in nosebleed section. Was slightly tempted but nah ... I'll watch the game at home and eat my chips.

GA at 16.5 so it went down a little.

Athens is a great place for a game, but I am too old to deal with the giant super-hyped crowd for a game like this. The best time to go and see a game is when they play a patsy. Cheap tickets, and the crowds will be a little less crazy.

It is great to watch on tv. It is not great after having to spend the last hour walking to my seats up several flights of stairs, having people bang on me and jostle me when I have a hard time walking down the stairs to my seats, then have stand through the whole game. Too old. At 20-40 all in. At 52? No thanks.

Yeah, we were at the Purdue/Illinois game last weekend. Illinois! Purdue! (Capacity all of 52k or so.) The normal student section was packed, and they started looking for seats where we were sitting, which I guess they all assumed was a continuation of the student section (it was not). It was absolutely mobbed, nobody was sitting down, constant stream of students in some stage of drunkenness coming up and down the stairs. Here's a hint: if throngs of people are coming DOWN the stairs because they couldn't find seats, it's a good bet that YOU WON'T FIND SEATS EITHER.

We were on the aisle, maybe three rows up from (basically right behind) a landing behind a tunnel in from the concourse. People stood there, too. Many tried to claim seats next to the group in front of us, which many times had to testily tell students that no, these were THEIR seats (whole group wasn't yet there), GO AWAY.

Eventually they had to get some folks from security/fire to get people off the stairs, off the landing, and to go to another student section more towards the end zone. Then it was a little bit better. But we basically couldn't see any action the whole first quarter, had to catch it on the jumbotron.

Edward, if you didn't feel like Arkansas had a chance going into this game: JT Daniels is not starting. 5'9 Stetson Bennett will get the start. Teams have figure out they don't have to rush him, all they need to do is put their arms up and he will just throw interceptions. You are welcome.

The Maryland QB had 105 FBS QBs ahead of him in interceptions at the start of last nights game. With 12:20 left in the 4th quarter there were none.

TBH, I more scared now. The Hogs were beating GA last year when they swapped for QB2 Bennett. He beat us.

Here we go Boyz!

... uh oh. Dawgs moving pretty easily right now.

... that was way too easy. 7-0. We better make some defensive adjustments now.

Hogs have a lot of penalties but that's really not the reason. Dawgs are moving at will right now.

This the first time all year the run game has been good. I figured the line would get better as they gelled through the year, but it probably does help that Stetson is a run risk as well.

Fugly. Hog defense better step up.

... okay, we've stiffened up some. Looking forward to see how Hogs adjust in 2H.

Our defense isn't able to pressure QB at all. We're doing decently against the run in past couple series.

Jake Fromm is a pedestrian 9/12 for 201 (tho with TDs of 59 and 41)but they rush for 203 on 42 carries. 14-0 by the middle of q1

State was the trendy upset candidate, coming off a plastering of #12 LSU 37-7 that got them to 3-0. Aaaaand then reality set in.

And speaking of history, here's what Arkansas has to do next: avoid doing what Miss State did ... which was go from 3-0 to 3-2. They were still hungover and lost to Auburn in their next outing.

Avoid that and Arky can still have a nice season.

Coastal is up 38-3 at the half. QB is perfect for the day so far and they have blocked a kick back for a TD for the third or fourth time this season

Rooting for GA to win it all this year. Anyone other than AL or Clemson.

Well this was the game I expected Michigan to blow, and they had their chances to but finished strong this time. Could always lose to Nebraska, but they seem to excel at losing winnable games so probably not.

That would mean a likely 7-0 going into playing Sparty. We've consistently underachieved against them in recent years, and Michigan State looks solid this year, so that's probably where the wheels come off. I figure 9-3, with one win against MSU, PSU, or OSU, and one loss in a game Michigan should win somewhere along the way.

That would beat the snot out of 2-4 last year at least and earn back a bit of respectability.

Rooting for Old Miss to get beat even worse than the Hogs. That way we won't occupy the recaps all by ourselves.

We play them next week so may be the battle of the whupped.

QB basically done at half, still kept pouring it on and good guys win 59-6. Don't know how Coastal lucked out when they signed this QB, but he has to be the best they have ever had-including the immortal Tyler Thigpen.
