It blows my mind that Texas can’t seem to get it together in football or basketball. With their enormous budget and access to whatever talent they want in arguably the best state for talent, it doesn’t make sense that they are not on par with Ohio St. for consistently being really, really good. If they give Sark 3-4 years at the same time they are entering the SEC, that is going to be chaos.

How in the world wasn't there anyone playing safety further back to prevent something like this. I mean, there was one dude but he looked like he was in the middle of the field, took a bad angle, got juked, and then it was ballgame

I would assume that Chris Peterson is the best name coach that USC could bring in at this time? I don't think James Franklin leaves Penn State for USC, but I keep seeing his name. Seems like a lateral move from the standpoint of programs and he is pretty far along in getting his pieces in place, but maybe less competition in the Pac 12 and an easier shot at the playoffs (depending on whether or not Oregon is back, for real).

It would be a huge shocker if Petersen took the USC job.

David Shaw is actually the perfect candidate for USC to hire, but Im not sure he would leave.

Surely they'd have to have an strong season this year for that to be a conversation.

Hasn't seen double digit wins since 2016, largely diminishing returns once he was working with his own players (rather than Harbaugh's), and is a week removed from a very bad looking loss to K-State on a neutral field.

That would seem like it comes with a very short rope.

I don't any way Peterson goes to USC. HE has always been very vocal about not wanting to coach in a fishbowl and be in a city. The only reason he went to UW was because you can drive 10 minutes outside the city and never know you were near a major metropolitan area.

I don't think Franklin is the guy. He hasn't done much at Penn St and has some baggage. I also completely disagree it would be a lateral move. USC is easily a top 5 job and maybe top 3. Not interested in arguing semantics, but if you asked 100 coaches if they would rather coach at USC or Penn state, 99 of them would say USC.

I think PJ Fleck may be the guy. He is young, charismatic, and can build a program.

#16 Coastal Carolina, coming off ESPN 2's highest rated game in 2 years on the channel, stays on the channel as they travel to Buffalo at noon tomorrow. They are a 14 point favorite. The Bulls could only score 3 points against Nebraska last week after scoring 69 against Wagner in Week 1. Chants are hoping the Nebraska version shows up.

I would say that the Wagner version showed up more. Buffalo came ready to play and we were tied at half, and it wasn't until the first play of the fourth quarter that we got into a comfortable lead only to have Buffalo score a TD late in the fourth. Coastal was able to hang on from there and barely survive 28-25. Whew

There may not be an actual "good" team in the entire ACC this year. How does that even happen?

The good news is Florida is actually making a game of it versus Alabama. The bad news is Florida is looking good.

Stray college football thought: there are a lot of sophomores playing their first games in front of actual normal sized crowds*.

*Washington Huskies not included

Hogs win 45-10. Good win but somewhat sloppy.

Brought in some 2nd team mid 3Q. Good to get them some experience. A&M is first SEC opponent next week.

I'm not sure I know whether Bama showed vulnerability or if Florida is better than previously thought.

I do know that the script for playing Bama is now officially "take away the run, make Bryce Young beat you"

Young 12/16 for 3 TDs first three drives
Young 10/19 for 0 TDs the rest of the game

Bama 188 yards first three drives
Bama 143 yards rest of the game

Doesn't Bama do this once a year, usually against an SEC team that is highly ranked and has a shot to be the #4 team in the playoff? Guessing most turn to endorsing the latter theory.

The surprise was how well Florida moved the ball on Bama, and mostly on the ground. Given that the Florida O-line is very good, still the Bama front 7 is supposed to be better then that. Just one game, and as cuervo said Bama seems to do this once a season. Still, it is worth watching.

Also, whoa that was a big caboose on that blonde on the Auburn sideline.

That is worse that the Mcmillan ejection.

I'm sure that Mike Leach appreciates the SEC acknowledging the multiple officiating errors today. That was check the bank accounts caliber officiating, and if they weren't paid off then it was Georgia high school caliber work and they should be fired en masse for their ineptitutde.

SEC issues statement following controversial punt return in Mississippi State-Memphis game
