Reverting back to 8.2?
Is there a way to do this with the Steam version? I love the game and have many SP seasons under my belt, but it's bugging me that on a good year there might be three qbs that throw over 4000 yards and after 15 years, there have only been three seasons where anyone has thrown over 30 TDs.
The record for most passing yards in 15 years is 4,500; TDs: 34. I understand that those who play online needed the nerf, but I'm an offline player and I remember 8.2 being a little closer to modern NFL stat-wise. Thanks. |

Its not in the normal place for other games (right click on game in library > properties > betas > choose version from list) so I'm not sure where to find it.

If i play with a small group of people, if we all switched our game to 8.2 would we be able to continue our save like that? I would assume yes?

I got back into FOF after 8.3 and have no experience with 8.2 but understand passing specifically was nerfed. Can anyone clarify further the changes made? Depending on the trade off I may look to revert back for more modern stats; I’d pass on doing this if passing is too easy however.

Okay, figured it out. It's a bit of a process, but it appears to have worked. If anyone's interested I can post a link to the instructions. I'll let you know how the stats look after a few years of simming, too.

Is changing the version back compatible with current saves or would one have to start their save over? |

There used to be a way to do it through the Steam console, but now it reverts back to the most current version, regardless of how you do it. This way requires a couple of downloads, but I'm not certain that there's another way. Steam Community :: Guide :: How to Downgrade or Change the Version of a Game |

It's compatible with current saves. I booted up my save that I've used over the last several months and it was fine, just the logos were back to the default ones. |

The passing is a little inflated, but it's definitely not extreme. There's a handful of guys that pass over 4000 yards a year, but I haven't noticed any statistical outliers yet. I simmed 15 years in the 8.2 version and the most passing yards in a season was 4,919 and the most passing TDs is 38. |

I wish there was a way to rollback MP to 8.2 as I personally felt that this was the best iteration of FOF8.

I can totally see why some people want modern stats. I also don't doubt an 8.2 MP league would fill pretty quickly. Maybe that would be an exciting venture for someone at some point.
Personally I have zero interest. Having passed for 9000 in SP and seen 8000 odd I think it was in MP, 8.2 is broken and dead to me. It is so OP it makes the rest of the game a little pointless and redundant IMO. But each to their own. |

From the SP simming I did it appeared short passing changed very little. Medium passing moderately, long passing quite a lot, in terms of Avg Att. |
