Heat Pump Questions

Does anyone own one? If so, when it goes to defrost mode what type of sound does your pump make? Mine makes a loud mechanical screech that you can hear throughout the house. The internet says most make a whoosh noise. Also, ours runs all morning. Even though the thermostat says the temp in the house is where the pump is set at. Is that right?

Any help with this would be great. I am going to call a HVAC company and find out.
