So is it worth buying an X-box 360 for Head Coach Football?

I'm not a big gamer, just a few sports sims on the PC. But the new version of Head Coach Football seems like just the thing I've been looking for. Now that you can get an xbox 360 for $200, I'm seriously considering buying one just for this game. Especially since no one is sure when the next PC football sim is coming out.

Do you think its worth it? I understand the $200 version doesn't have a hard drive, just a 256K memory card. Would I still be able to download patches for the game with the base model, or do you need additional hardware to connect to the internet? Do you need a hard drive for the patches, or would a memory card suffice? Sorry for all the lame questions, but I'm really not up on the latest gaming systems.

You'll almost certainly need a HD for save games, let alone patches. It is a career sports sim, after all. For that matter, you'll need either a wired connection to the internet, or a $100 wireless adapter (almost has to be XB360 branded, IIRC) to transfer the patches. That doesn't even begin to delve into the question of current hardware reliability. It's still possible that hardware failures are more than a standard deviation or two above electronics industry benchmarks.

I don't believe there is any single game right now, for any console, that is worth the purchase price of a new system. For both next-gen consoles, you're still looking at potential and what's coming.

As much as I enjoy HC so far, I agree with Shkspr that it is just not worth the cost of a console (to me).

I disagree. I bought my original Xbox just for Barbie Horse Adventures, and it was worth every penny, even with the bugs. The bug I hated most was the one where you and your horse would get rabies from Skipper if you let her house-sit for more than 2 days in a row. Still, the game was great.

If you're going to spend that much for 1 game why not save up and buy THIS console that has 2 games?

I have to agree here, but, I'm still waiting for Barbie's Bukkake Adventure to come out before I buy.

Agreed. I'd buy a PC so I could play Civ IV, FM, FOF, or OOTP before I ever considered buying a console for HC.
