2017-2021 Richmond Bulldozers

I thought I knew Front Office Football. I don't. Our ball control strategy did not work at all as we went through a litany of below average QBs. Three Scouting Directors, three Head Coaches, and two defensive sets later, the Bulldozers have yet to make the playoffs. A second year bust has cost us close to 50 million dollars, holding valuable roster space.

On the bright side, our team record has improved every year and we now have one of the best defenses in the league. We look for big changes on Offense in the second half of our first decade. We start this Challenge in last, but will finish it in first (cue NFL Films' Salute to Courage).

I've been putting stats in my season reports (team leaders and yards per play), so no real need to repeat here (the post is long enough anyway!)

Herb scores
2017: 55/29/41/70 - average 41
2018: 15/36/53/69 - average 38
2019: 58/57/50/69 - average 56
2020: 90/53/54/72 - average 63
2021: 40/60/50/71 - average 53

Comments: A decent start, although I could have done better - hiring coach Stokes in 2018 was a big mistake, as he held back the development of my best young players, and the 2020 team was good enough to go all the way. I've made mistakes - the oversight with not having any WRs signed in 2021 killed off any chance of the Thunder Walkers making the playoffs that year.

I have the basis of a solid team in place, but a lot of work needs to be done to keep them together - the TV contract from 2022 means a measly $500,000 increase in the cap each year, but players still want their 20% salary increases...

Despite the problems, I'm enjoying taking part in the challenge - the competition makes playing FOF more fun.

Axxon: Wow... Chester Winslett is a sack machine!! What do his ratings look like?!?! I noticed your linebackers seem to put up good sacks totals too, do you set your defense to blitz a lot or do they just have amazing pass rush skills?

Daimyo, currently in his 7th year, Chester is
57/88 81. He's down a bit after a long injury a couple of years ago when he missed 9 games. Before that he was an even bigger animal. In his first year when he had 17 sacks he was 61/82 73/100 95. I hope he's HOF bound.

As for my blitz tendency, I had it at 70 for a long time with a mutiple rush of 55 but I've cut it down to 65 50 to try and cut down on those over the middle passes that my LB's aren't currently defending to my satisfaction. I may drop it even more. I do have good rushing LB's though. Pointer 95, Friesz 65, Cruise 60 as my three starters in 2023, my current year.

I have a killer line ( about 44 mil worth ), two super LB's and a solid backfield but I am still at the bottom of the list defensively. Sure, I'm always playoff bounf but since I haven't won the big game I wonder if my D isn't killing me when it matters. Who can say??

BTW, in 6 seasons Winslett has 71 sacks in 84 games A sack machine indeed.

One of the years I hired Jessie Caro as my coach. I forgot to put it down so I dont know which year. One thing I'm concerned about. You see that 0 in Herb's Score? That's Profit. I'm worried if I dont start gaining soon, I'll be fired. My ticket prices are only a little lower than your guys. What am I doing wrong? Patrick Clancy is looking like a great draft choice. And I mean great.
