CM4 Gold Demo, What do you think?
I'm a little aggravated. The game has some quirky crashes, but more unfortunate is that all the features aren't active. You cannot see a full game in 2d, and it is very slow to transition. I hope they improve things with the promised patch that may be out before the game is released.

The slow transitions are annoying to me too. But there's a patch announced in time for when the games hit the stores, apparently.

I very much heart the right-click addition to the interface. Don't so much dig the rearrangement of some of the features. Don't like that I can't find where to specify my playmaker. Miss the Find Player/Club feature. R.I.P. The Manager Note seems awesomely evolved. I dig. Filters (in searches and on roster page) feels significantly less friendly to use. Not difficult, just more work to accomplish something that took less work than before. U-19 squad is exciting to have. Not sure why I can see reserve squad for some teams and not for others. Just a few quick thoughts.

Questions:
1. How do you find players w/o the 'Find Player' feature? 2. Will you ever be able to see a full match in 2d? (This won't affect me much, but it still looks cool) 3. What features aren't activated? |

Find Player/Club - this is now called 'Quick Search' ... Filter - We'll look into addressing this (I presume you mean the need to use the keyboard?) for the patch. |

this is a shot in the dark, but not all teams in the real leagues have reserve sides. i seem to recall that under kevin keegan, newcastle got rid of their reserve team. |

The current method is ugly. The old single-click-5-point-increment was really useful when holding a pint of frothy John Smiths in one hand. I hope you get round to restoring it before launch. |

I miss this too. I assume you can technically do the same thing in the new tactics screen but I guess I'll need to read the manual. Quote:
I find the roster page filtering kind of annoying. I'd like to be able to filter by position and compare ratings (previously a simple click). Now I have to open filter, select position, and then hide filter (3 steps) because the filter screen covers the ratings. Then repeat the 3 steps to check another position. Seems tedious. Also missing the Next Fixture button and the Interested Player filter on the player search screen. Guess the new interface just takes some getting used to. |

I'm with you on all of that. I'm excited by the new features, but so much (esp. the filters) seems to be a step back. |

Anyone else seeing a high amount of injuries in the Demo (or is it just my bad luck)?
I have seven midfielders out due to injuries in the fourth week. |

Yes. Everyone in my line-up has been injured at one time or another in two months. |

This is the number one complaint. And I believe that SI or Eidos or whatever they are called these days have it at the top of their 'Things to put right before we release in 7 - SHIT! DID I SAY 7? days' list. |

Injuries will be tuned somewhat in the patch released upon the games day of release (or as we prefer to call it 'enhancement pack' ).
The number of injuries in the game is imho roughly correct - however I agree that the length of them is a too high and the frequency of long-term injuries is being reduced somewhat. |

I agree with Marc on the injury problem, the number is correct but there are still too many 2-3 month injuries.

Marc, please bring back the at least match X of attributes in the player search. I like searching for a player with over 15 in dribbling, pace and passing and only having to match any 2 of the 3.
I can't wait to see how the draft was implimented for MLS! |

"Interested Button"
This still exists more of less, in the form of asking your assstant manager to filter out unrealistic options ..... this of course is somewhat dependant upon the ability of your assistant however. |

When you did a player search, one of the filter options was interested players only - so you only got to list the players who were willing to join you. I like the idea of the assistant manager route, but in the demo I managed Man Utd (easiest way to try out all the new options), and I didn't like my assistant - couldn't fire him as it required too much compensation, and every transfer I went for he was always listed as not thinking the player was worth purchasing. He was frequently wrong. |

I have played around with it for quite a bit over the weekend, and so far, I like what I see for the most part.

I like this addition because it adds to the realism. It makes picking a good assistant more important than in previous CM versions. *I agree with everyone on the injuries; they do seem a bit to severe. *The interface is fine; I thgink I just need a full year of game-time play to get used to it. *I love the "add to notes" button from the news message area. *I also love the transfer and contract negotiations now. The AI seems to be pretty smart. *Looking forward to seeing a complete game in 2d. As has been said before; I am very pro-dot! So far, so good Marc & co. This will be one game I purchase this spring. |
