Back in high school in Fort Worth, I used to call in to KZEW's morning show. They had a daily contest where you tried to stump them with a movie trivia question. I had a knack of always being the first or second caller, and they never let the first people through win. I would always try to ask a question about 'American Flyers', the bicycle racing movie with Kevin Costner. I would get through at least 4 days per week. It almost got to be a running gag.
Then I think it was over Spring Break, or just as summer vacation started, they did a live remote show from a Whataburger not too far from my house. So I rode my bike over, fought through the crowd, and got to ask my American Flyers question in person. After the commercial break, they had everyone in the place bang their tables and yell, and said "we've taken care of the American Flyers guy. He won't be calling in anymore." Sure enough, I made it through the next morning.

Yeah, twice.
Once as a kid to answer a trivia question - who wrote the James Bond novels? I think I was 10 at the time. I also called into a Sports Radio talk show when the U of Mich snobbery was suggesting that U of M boycott the NIT in 1997 when they got snubbed by the NCAA. They actually won the damn thing, too (I'm not a U of M fan). |

I don't think I've ever called in except to try and win tickets or prizes

I've called into the local ESPN1000 and Score 670 on occasion.

Back back way back in the 90's there was a network, I forget the name of it, but I think it was based out of Chicago. Anyway, the overnight guy was John Renshaw who I thought was just insanely awesome. Well I used to smoke a lot of pot (I still do, but I used to too). So I called up one night impersonating Beavis and making random sports jokes. At some point they just started calling me off the air right around the time the show started and would randomly put me live to make jokes or whatever. I seriously thought I was a star. The Producer, who went by the name Chunky V was just an awesome guy.
I Think it lasted about 6 months or so till he was moved to the afternoons at which point most of the frivolity of the show went out the window and then he was fired not long after. Not sure what he's doing now but I know he's bounced around some in the last 20 years, KC, Miami, Louisville, but he still calls me now and again out of the blue just to see how I'm doing. |

Yes, when the Knicks sent Oakley to Toronto for Camby.
In my career, I have bleeped many idiots who thought they were slick & wanted to prank shows though. |

Couple times. Former FOFCer who had a radio show had me call in to discuss a fire that was burning near my house. Not really sure why that was newsworthy for his show but okay.
Called in to Petros' show years ago to try and win tickets to a Dodger game (ended up getting them basically by default). |

When I worked night shifts years ago I used to phone up one station every now and then, and got on air maybe 4-5 times.
Also phoned in for a quiz and lost because I had a mental blank over the incredibly easy question "What is blog short for?"...

Did they discuss your question? I called into the fabled 97X here for contests a couple of times and won some tickets to a Travis (the band) show. They also used to do a thing where if you submitted a group of 6 songs with a theme, they would send you a 6 pack of cassettes. Yes, cassettes. I won that a couple of times, but don't think I have the cassettes anymore.

A few times a very long time ago. As matter of fact, the first time I called a radio show was on a rotary phone. It was a Bulldog program on WSB 750, the week after the national championship in 1980.

Once, to the local sports talk station back about 1998 or 1999 when the topic was who the ACC should get in expansion. I said Miami, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia. Fifteen years later, two out of three ain't bad.
