CL Championship game #1

T. Qian (ATL) vs D. Lewis (BAL)

Baltimore scores 1 in the 1st, 4 in the 3rd, another run in both the 4th and 5th to cruise to an easy 7-1 victory.

Baltimore wins game one 7-1

RL Championship game #1

J. Williams (HAR) vs M. Sanu (COL)

In a much closer game, Colorado scores 1 in the 2nd and 2 in the third, but Hartford gets all three back in the 7th inning. Colorado scores another run in the 7th, to which Hartford ties it up once again in the top of the 9th to force extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th, Colorado scores on a G. Simons RBI single with 2 runners on and two outs to win the game.

Colorado wins game one 5-4 (10 innings)

CL Championship Series Game #2:

A. Wiley (ATL) vs M. Brown (BAL)

Atlanta takes the quick 3-0 lead in the top of the second, but thanks to 2 runs in the 2nd and 4 more in the 3rd, 2 in the 4th and 1 more in the 5th, Baltimore runs away with another one. Home runs in this game for C. Watkins (ATL), J. Gonzalez (ATL), D. Sanchez (BAL), M. Martinez (BAL).

Baltimore wins game two 9-5

Baltimore leads the series 2 games to 0

RL Championship Series game #2:

H. Kim (HAR) vs S. Endo (COL)

Hartford sends out Hyung-oo "Express" Kim, a pitcher from AAA who had not pitched in the majors yet this year in game two. For the most part he pitches well until the 6th inning when Hartford gives up 3 runs. They give up another in the 7th inning. In the top of the 8th, H. Zhao hits a 3-run homer for Hartford to inch within one, but it is just not enough and Colorado wins another one.

Colorado wins 4-3

Colorado takes a 2-0 lead in the series.

CL Championship series game #3

P.Villalobas (BAL) vs R. Clarke (ATL)

In a direct contrast to the first two games of this series, Baltimore only scores two runs tonight. Both occur in the top of the second inning on a K. Wilson RBI single. That will be enough however as Villalobas pitches 8 innings of shut out, 4-hit ball and Baltimore wins another one.

Baltimore wins 2-0

Baltimore takes a commanding 3 games to 0 lead in the series.

RL Championship Series game #3

J. Mitchell (COL) vs D. Robinson (HAR)

Colorado scores in the top of the 4th, but Hartford ties it up in the bottom of the inning. Colorado goes back in front in the top of the 5th, but Hartford once again ties it in the bottom of the 6th. That is all that is scored during regulation play and this game goes into extra innings. In the top of the 10th, G. Simons hits an RBI single to take the lead once again but that is once again wiped off of the board in the bottom of the inning when S. Anderson hits an RBI single of his own to score Harrison from third. Into the bottom of the 14th, when finally Hartford scores again on yet another Anderson RBI single to score Harrison and win the game.

Hartford wins 4-3 (14 innings)

Colorado still leads the series 2 games to 1.

CL Championship Series Game #4

I. Flores (BAL) vs D. Berui (ATL)

Facing elimination, Atlanta bats finally wake up in this one. They score 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st, thanks partially to an A. Ramirez 2-run homer in order to jump to an early lead. Baltimore scratches back 2 in the third, but they are unable to handle Berui the rest of the game. Atlanta cruises to an easy victory and manages to stay alive long enough for a return trip to Baltimore.

Atlanta wins 7-2

Baltimore still leads the series 3 games to 1

RL Championship Series Game #4

F. Pereira (COL) vs T. Shaw (HAR)

For a second time this series, Hartford starts a pitcher that spent the entire season in AAA. This time however, Shaw was amazing and only allowed 1 earned run on 6 hits in 8 innings. Unfortunately for the Harpooners, they also could only score one run in the first 8 innings. Into the bottom of the 9th, tied up 1-1 and facing yet another extra innings game, with two outs Tolmie steps up and hits a Solo homer to give Hartford the win!

Hartford wins 2-1

The RL Championship series is tied up at two games each.

Yep. Guerrero wasn't very good at all. Pena wasn't that great either, so he moved to the pen and Guerrero went down. I called Gomez up as well to work in the pen. I almost started him instead of Periera.

CL Championship Series:

In a rematch of the game 1 starters, Atlanta once again faces elimination. Baltimore scores 1 in the bottom of the 1st and another in the bottom of the 6th. Atlanta scores single runs in the top of the third and 5th. The game ends up all knotted up after 9. After another inning and a half of scoreless ball, Reinhart comes in to pitch in the bottom of the 11th for Atlanta. He strikes out the first batter, and then to I. Costa, pitches the count full. On a 3-2 pitch, Costa barely scrapes one over the wall for a solo home run.

Baltimore wins 3-2 (11 innings)

Baltimore has won the 1985 Continental League Championship Series!

RL Championship Series:

In another rematch of the game 1 starters, this one is another close one between Hartford and Colorado. Hartford jumps out to the early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. However Colorado gets a 2 run home run from Cleveland in the bottom of the third to go along with an RBI single from Simons to leapfrog them into a 3-2 lead. From that point forward, both pitching staffs locked down and no further runs cross the plate.

Colorado wins 3-2

Colorado has a 3 games to 2 lead in the series.

I actually forgot all about Periera when setting up my season rotation. Either that or his control wasn't all the way there yet. Either way, yeah, I had some extra weapons going into this.

RL Championship Series game #6

With their season on the line, Hartford will once again go to the youngster Kim to try to keep them alive. He pitches very well, only giving up 5 hits and 2 earned runs in 8.1 innings pitched. Unfortunately for Hartford, Endo pitched just as well for Colorado and only gave up 1 earned run on 8 hits in 8 innings pitched. Going into the bottom of the 9th, Hartford was trailing 2-1.

Colorado brings in Rodriguez to pitch the bottom of the 9th, and he gives up a single to Cervantes to start the inning. Cervantes is pinch run for by Warren, who then moves to second as Harrison hits one between the second-baseman's legs. Both runners are safe due to the error! Tolmie is now up with no outs, and he sacrifice bunts, moving both runners over. The tying run is now at third and the go ahead run at second with only one out.

J. Smith comes up to the plate, and on an 0-2 pitch singles one in the hole at short to tie it up! Colorado walks Anderson to pitch to Holcombe. Holcombe makes them pay however with a long sacrifice fly to deep center. The runner tags up at third and Hartford scrapes out a must-needed win!

Hartford wins 3-2

The series is all tied up now at 3, heading back to Colorado for a final and deciding game #7!

RL Championship Series game #7

Features D. Robinson for Hartford vs J. Mitchell for Colorado. Was this some master strategy by the crafty Muns to purposely pitch his ace third to get him up in the deciding game 7? We will find out how, this works out, after a commercial message and a word from our sponsor. (ie: I'm getting a quick coke)

Colorado gets home runs from both Gaines and Cleveland in game #7, but those are the only runs that they are able to score.

Hartford gets a run in the top of the third, two more in the 6th, and three more in the 7th (including a Zhao 2-run homer), and they come from behind in the series to upset the favorite Colorado Rancheros.

Hartford wins 6-2

Hartford wins the series 4 games to 3, in order to set up a rematch of the 1978 and 1979 FOOL Classics in which Baltimore won both years.

During the regular season, Hartford actually ended up with a better record than Baltimore by one game, thanks to a September implosion that saw the Gothams only go 3-7 during the month. However it seems since Baltimore was the Regular season champs, and Hartford was a regular season runner up, OOTP awards home field advantage to Baltimore for the FOOL Classic.
