Impossible. You couldn't put together a more worthless September team than the ones I do. You can mark it down--I always, always suck in September, without fail. When I make the playoffs, it's because I have built up a big lead before September, and then just sweat it out at the end.

Lemme guess, Alan. I lost that last game to Toronto, too, meaning I got swept three times in September, and none of those sweeps came at the hands of playoff teams or teams with as good of a record as mine.

Sunday, September 18th, 1988: FOOL News: The All-Star Game Rosters Have Been Announced
Nothing is for certain about the 1988 Front Office Offseason League All-Star Game. It may be dominated by top-notch pitching performances. Or it could turn into a home run derby. Who knows? Pitch by pitch, inning by inning, the game could feature a little of both -- six strikeouts in a row by a nasty southpaw -- or a 3-homer day for some superstar slugger -- plus great catches, thrills, chills and spills --all the great and the unexpected things that can happen in a baseball game.

This year, the Continental League will be represented by these All-Star performers:
SP W. Steward (BKN)
SP A. Wiley (TOR)
SP G. Hernández (BKN)
SP G. Wilson (BAL)
SP I. Flores (BAL)
SP G. Arrojo (RG)
CL M. Willerton (BKN)
CL J. Martland (ATL)
MR C. Templeman (TOR)
MR M. Terada (NVY)
CL R. Villegas (BAL)
MR D. Anderson (WYO)
RF M. Wilkinson (TOR)
SS K. Wilson (BAL)
1B E. Sánchez (WYO)
LF K. Fujii (BAL)
2B F. Acevedo (BKN)
3B T. Cutileiro (ATL)
CF M. Tavira (BAL)
C J. García (TOR)
C T. Makino (NVY)
SS H. Salas (TOR)
RF D. Hunter (BKN)
3B M. Villalobos (RG)
1B J. Ekkel (WYO)
LF C. Romero (ATL)
3B K. Nishida (NVY)
RF J. Lane (NVY)
.

While the Republic League best will be these stars:
SP M. Sanu (COL)
SP J. Gómez (COL)
SP B. Smith (HAR)
SP J. McGorry (STL)
SP D. Long (COL)
SP A. Lewis (SD)
MR M. Kessler (CLB)
CL L. St. James (BOS)
CL J. Torres (STL)
CL D. Spencer (CGO)
MR C. Ortega (COL)
CL D. Hennessey (HAR)
SS L. Crawford (ANN)
1B L. Abbott (CLB)
3B S. McGill (HAR)
2B G. Simons (COL)
LF S. Oliver (CGO)
C A. Eaton (HAR)
CF D. Carlisle (COL)
RF M. Rice (COL)
C S. MacQueen (STL)
3B J. Villarreal (COL)
2B J. Gonzáles (STL)
LF G. Gonzáles (COL)
1B J. Guerrero (SD)
RF S. Anderson (CLB)
1B H. Zhào (HAR)
CF J. López (SD)
.

The only thing for certain is that, with this group of fine all-stars, the fans will really enjoy the show.

Your September was:

2-1 @ Baltimore
0-3 @ Rio Grande
0-3 @ Wyoming
3-0 vs New York
1-3 @ Toronto

Yup, I went and checked with the records you were showing, so I saw I managed to take one from Toronto. After I was eliminated, of course.

Not sure if I'm gonna be around Sunday night. Our vacation starts tomorrow, and I'm not sure what I'm going to be doing Sunday. I've exported, and I don't really have any special instructions. Good luck, in that you don't feel to bad when I beat you ;- )

Heh. SP William Pennington, with his brand new 4 year, $25mil contract, had decided Boston is in the tank and wants out. He went 11-15, 5.40 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, .308 OAVG, and a .384 BABIP. William, we will GLADLY show you the door as you are clearly part of the problem...

I had 2 of those guys...."I can help a contender". Or, you could have made me a contender.

I'm afraid I don't really understand the formula for success in FOOL, on an individual player basis.

Take this example:

Guillermo Arrojo, age 41, 67/81/91 end 61, posts a 3.38 ERA in 216 IP
Jeff Williams, age 31, 75/90/91 end 90, posts a 5.08 in 200 IP
Joe Hart, age 35, 55/90/91 end 100, puts up a 4.01 ERA in 228 IP

So, the guy with the best talents, with the age advantage and what should be a durability edge of Arrojo, puts up by FAR the worst ERA? How do you predict that?

Here's another one:

Manny Lopez, 79/75/92, puts up the second worst ERA among starters, 6.92
Dan Walker, 81/78/84 (closely comparable right?): 3.43

One thing I need to do is take a close look at my park and make sure it's still Fenway and not some abominable Anthony/HA creation...

When I moved you back to Boston, I believe I set yo back to being Fenway. Doublecheck it though and let me know if it is not correct.
