Maxithlon (Hattrick for Track & Field) Dynasty
So I get really excited watching Track & Field events and lately it's been a pretty big time, with the recent NCAA Championships, the ongoing Olympic Trials, and the upcoming Olympics. I'd always thought it'd be fun if there was a text based Track & Field management game. I did a search for one and found this game called Maxithlon.
It seems to have a very similar structure as Hattrick with a ladder promotion/relegation system and weekly competitions. Not sure if this game is any good, but I decided to start a dynasty to chronicle my exploits. My team name will be Legends AC. We will be competing in League 3-4. The game starts with allowing you to select your beginning roster from lists in various disciplines, so I'll show that decision making process over the next few pages.

Sprinters
The 5 sprinting events (with their prioritized skills) are... 100m (Speed, Strength, Reflex, Acceleration, Agility) 200m (Speed, Strength, Acceleration, Agility, Reflex) 400m (Speed, Strengh, Acceleration, Stamina, Agility, Reflex) 110m hurdles (Speed, Agility, Acceleration, Jump, Strength, Reflex) 400m hurdles (Speed, Agility, Acceleration, Jump, Stamina, Strength, Reflex) Also, the Care skill reflects to their attitude and how much they'll be able to improve. In the national league competition, each athlete can only do 1 individual event, so no 100/200 doublers. So from this list of athletes I have to pick 5 of them... Men Code:
100m - Alan Morin 200m - Dalton Gardner 400m - Samuel Gallegos 110h - Kevin Kent 400h - Dominic Pacheco It feels weird picking a guy with 6 speed in the 100m, but Morin is only 14, so I had to take him and put him somewhere. His high reflex and decent strength make him a fit for the 100 if I can get his speed up. Looking for good things from Pacheco and Gardner. Women Code:
100m - Kimberly Pena 200m - Gabrielle Hale 400m - Brianna Larsen 110h - Isabel Cooper 400h - Jordan Tate Mostly easy choices here as I was gifted with some talented youngsters in Tate, Cooper, and Hale. Pena is older, but has very high potential. For the last spot, I went with the youngster Larsen instead of the over the hill Battle.

Middle Distance Runners
800m (Speed, Stamina, Tactics, Finish, Strength, Agility) 1500m - (Stamina, Speed, Tactics, Finish, Agility) Steeplechase - (Stamina, Speed, Tactics, Finish, Agility) Jump isn't prioritized for Steeple, which seems weird, but I still used it as a tiebreaker for who I picked here. Code:
800 - Caden Ortiz 1500 - Michael Cahill Steeple - Jesus Fleming Not happy with this group. Jesus is the best. The other two guys I went with youth. Cahill's low ceiling is a concern, but Contreras just isn't good enough right now to pick him instead. Code:
800 - Madeline Burnett 1500 - Lauren Daniel Steeple - Kaitlyn Wolf I like this group, especially since I was able to pick three people with great potential.

Long Distance
5000m (Stamina, Speed, Endurance, Continuity) 10000m (Stamina, Speed, Endurance, Continuity) Marathon (Stamina, Speed, Endurance, Continuity) Code:
5000 - Jayden Sampson 10000 - Marcus Greene Marathon - Landon Bradford An old group without much potential. Code:
5000 - Mia Chavez 10000 - Olivia Carpenter Marathon - Kimberly Gubner Hard to leave off Hurley, but I couldn't pass up a 14 yr old with that much potential.

Race Walking
10k Walk (Stamina, Technique, Pace, Speed, Agility) 20k Walk (Stamina, Technique, Pace, Speed, Agility) 50k Walk (Stamina, Technique, Pace, Agility) Code:
10k Walk - Justin Hahn 20k Walk - Scott French 50k Walk - Jonathan Hebert Picked the younger French over the low ceiling Perkins. Code:
10k Walk - Jessica Castaneda 20k Walk - Ana Kerrigan 50k Walk - Aaliyah Phillips Not much potential here. I almost went with Trevino for the 3rd spot, but that 2 in Pace is a big red flag for someone who is already 26.

Jumpers
High Jump (Jump, Agility, Elasticity, Take Off) Pole Vault (Jump, Take Off, Agility, Elasticity) Long Jump (Jump, Speed, Agility, Elasticity, Take Off) Triple Jump (Jump, Agility, Elasticity, Speed, Take Off) Code:
High Jump - Jackson Nieves Pole Vault - Thomas Fischer Long Jump - Cody Blankenship Triple Jump - Charles Thornton Thornton is an odd choice for the Triple Jump, but couldn't ignore his youth and potential. Code:
High Jump - Zoe Upperton Pole Vault - Destiny Woodward Long Jump - Lindsay Ortega Triple Jump - Mary Glass Maybe my best group of the bunch. 4 people with near max potential and either 9 or 10 in Jump

Throwers
Shot Put (Strength++, Throw, Agility, Jerk, Coordination) Discus (Strength, Throw, Agility, Jerk, Coordination) Hammer (Strength, Throw, Agility, Jerk, Coordination) Javelin (Strength, Throw, Agility, Coordination, Speed, Jerk) ++ means Shot Put has extra focus on strength than the two beneath it. Code:
Shot Put - Elijah Hinton Discus - Jake Bullock Hammer - Antonio Cook Javelin - Luis Mesler A terrible group. I had to reach pretty far to get someone with potential in Cook. Code:
Shot Put - Cassidy Barron Discus - Laura Giffin Hammer - Monique Parsons Javelin - Ashley Baker Once again, I reached down pretty far to get a person with potential. This time it was Parsons.

Men’s Pentathlon (Long Jump, Javelin Throw, 200m, Discus Throw, 1500m)
Men’s Decathlon (100m, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, 400m, 110m hurdles, Discus Throw, Pole Vault, Javelin Throw, 1500m) Code:
Pentathlon - Caden Langley Decathlon - Aaron Rivers A lack of throwers will be a problem here. Caden is an easy choice with speed and jumping, which influence so many events. For the other spot, I just picked a young guy with potential despite his complete lack of throwing ability. Women’s Pentathlon (100m hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, Long Jump, 800m) Women’s Heptathlon (100m hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, 200m, Long Jump, Javelin Throw, 800m) Code:
Pentathlon - Jade Warren Heptathlon - Kathryn McGinley Hard to pick these, because no matter what you're sacrificing in many spots, so I went with youth and potential again.

Continuing this, let's take a look at the arena.
Owner: Legends AC Arena's name: Legends Arena Nation: United States Region: South Atlantic Lanes: 4 (Red) Press Room: 0 m2 Dressing Room: 25 m2 (Number of events: 8) Capacity: 1000 spectators Gym: 10 m2 Light: 0 kW Cover Type: Without cover Everything from Lanes to Cover type can be changed for a fee. There are different benefits to each. For example, the gym size will increase training speed. Dressing room will increase the number of events you can host in your arena (outside of a normal league competition). Press Room increases the prestige of events you are eligible to host. Other owners have offered some advice that seats are the most important arena upgrade, since you will make most of your money when you host the league competition at your arena. I increase my seats from 1000 to 2500. This costs $95000 out of my starting $150000.

You are allowed to have a youth team, which participates in competition of limited events. This means 1 for each discipline, so 1 sprinter, 1 middle distance, etc.
The benefit of having athletes on the youth team is they get a 50% bonus on their training. I want to put my 14 and 15 year olds on the youth team, but this means I need to hit the transfer market to find some older athletes to take their place on the main team. Here are some purchases I made... Sprinters Stefan Panchev (22) - 10 speed, 9 agility, and 4 jump. He will be my new 110 hurdles guy and Pacheco will move to 400 hurdles. Sofia Jorge (17) - 11 speed, 6 agility, and 5 jump. Also will be 110 hurdles. Idoia Olarra (19) - 10 speed, 8 agility, and 2 jump. Prefers to tun the 100 hurdles, but has better stamina than Jorge. Middle Distance Runner Leo Evans (28) - Up there in years, but he's just holding this spot until Caden Ortiz is ready. 15 speed and 9 stamina means he should have no trouble against weak competition. Fausto Tarantini (17) - Also holding a spot for a youngster. 11 speed, but only 4 stamina could be a problem. His 4 agility makes him a good choice for steeple. Jumpers Noah MacGeorge (15) - Actually bought him to be on the youth team, but didn't realize previous owner already had him compete in main team events, so he's not eligible. Oh well, he will fill a spot for now. Throwers Ntinos Skodramoudis (23) - One of my biggest purchases at $10,000. His 13 throwing and 11 strength make him one of the best athletes on the team. Combined Events Malanka Dacko (21) - Strong all-around athlete. She has no skills lower than and excels in throwing (9).

Hi, I haven't been on this site for a LONG time, but a while ago I developed a spreadsheet-based game and thought I'd go back to it. Before I devoted too much time to it, thought I'd see if there was anything out there already and it proves to be the case with Maxithlon... it looks very similar to the sort of game I was hoping to develop (except I bet there's no draft like with FOF...?) I clicked on this page and lo and behold it brought me to the FOF forum that I used to frequent!
Would be interested to know how people have found it - how much 'working out' is there? I.e. is it something you can gather data and figure out what sort of times/distances you are likely to get with certain stats, or is it much more on the 'squad builder' side?
