FOFC Fantasy Hockey draft thread

Just dumped names in Excel, randomly generated numbers and sorted highest to lowest. Draft order is...

1) The Jackal
2) Samifan24
3) britrock88
4) Chief Rum
5) sposfan
6) Logan
7) bhlloy
8) Suburban Rhythm
9) Ajax
10) Jon

I'll do my best to update/summarize picks throughout the day to keep things clean.

If possible, PM the next up to keep things flowing. Not really setting limits at this point, we've got a week. With starters and bench there will be 21 rounds. If we get bogged down, we can start imposing limits.

For consistency purposes (and making it easier to build rosters for me later), please try and post:

1.1 Cindy Crysby - C - PIT

Jackal is on the clock...

Yeah, I struggled with Ovechkin. Which is why I passed on him and took Tavares. Hoping for another leap in his development to a whole new level.

I'd say when in doubt, PM fellas. Even if it's not received for 8 hours, at least they'll have notice.

I debated a really long time on Subban - if he progresses like he should from last year, he's going to be a beast across multiple categories and might be the most valuable player in this scoring format. But I took the safer route (I think)...

I'm a huge Letang fan (and homer). He's got ridiculous tools. But his injuries scare me. And, for lack of a better word, he's dumb. I pray to God that with Jacques Martin as an assistant this year, he can really help him become a smarter player.

Eh, dumbness isn't a category right? I think you or I could probably get 40 assists as long as we were the primary puckhandler on that PP.

That being said the injuries are a concern. You are making me wish I took Subban now, dammit!

I think Letang was the right choice. Subban has to prove he can perform at that offensive level consistently. Now if this were about who's the better defenseman... Subban would win in my book hands down.

He's actually pretty awful on the PP. Part of it is deferring to 87 and 71 too much. The other part is the "dumbness" factor. Skill wise, he's right there, IMO, with Karlsson, Weber, Subban. But with that much talent, why is he such a cluster on the PP? He could be a point per game guy on that team. But he's "only" a 50-60 point guy currently.

Want a trade?

Jon got my guy at 2.1. Taking a bit of a gamble with this pick, but gambling on the upside and hoping +/- doesn't kill me.

Going to test my own theory in the initial setup of the league. I'll either be a genius or an idiot. Loading up on D first...

I wanted Weber even as a second dman, and was deciding between Kessel and Kane. So sounds like we are all using the same cheat sheet or are just all really smart

I will probably be away when sposfan picks, so I sent a mini-list to britrock and SR to keep the draft moving.
