DVR: Upload to PC?
Last year I remember hearing that Comcast was working on a service which would provide their customers the ability to upload content from their DVRs to the web or even straight to their PCs. Has anyone heard about this? Perhaps if not Comcast, is there another option?
As a Broadcast Journalism instructor I'd love to be able to ditch the VCR when showing examples in class!

You can do this with Tivo. I upload programs to my PC then burn them to DVD all the time.
Comcast is rolling out Tivo software on their cable boxes. I don't know if their version will allow transfer of programs or not. |

hey flounder, what software do you use for the burning to DVD? Once I pull the video to my PC using Tivo Desktop, the DVD burning software that I have does not recognize the video files and won't burn them. Or is there more to it that I'm doing doing?

I use Sonic MyDVD. It's not the greatest, but at the time it was the only program that was compatible with the Tivo files. Now there may be a different program to use.
In addition, you can convert the Tivo files to generic MPEG-4 video and burn it with whatever you want. That's a little more labor intensive though. |

I guess Comcast teamed up with Tivo in January but when I called Comcast the one lady I spoke with was very confused...She told me to try the tech dept for internet but I had to hang up before I actually spoke with them.
