Question on laws surrounding wills
My grandmother recently passed away and had her will structured so that all of her assets would be split evenly among the 5 children. The will also stated that if any of those children died, that child's share would be split evenly among the child's children. Basically it goes to the grandchildren rather than the spouse.
We have had a situation where one of the children died (call her Betty) before grandma's will was settled. Does Betty's share go to her kids (as in grandma's will), or does the money go to Betty's estate to be distributed according to Betty's will? |

Could depend on state law but most likely this Fighting a similar one now with grandfather in law's death and my MIL being dead, her estate being contested and my wife being the executor |
