Greetings from the RWBL!

Good evening former RWBL Owners. I wanted to thank each and every one of
you for your dedication throughout the years as we made the RWBL one of the
greatest OOTP leagues ever.

Unfortunately the time has come to shutter the doors of the RWBL. But not
until one last hurrah. I ran the league for another 20 years to see what
the future had in store for us.
History League Index

Drop by and pay the RWBL a visit. Share your favorite moments, your worst
moments, you biggest rivalries, and shoot the breeze with your fellow
owners one last time.

Take Care,
Daniel Schoonover
National League President
Owner Los Angeles Dodgers, Former Owner San Diego Padres

P.S. This will be the only email you receive regarding this.

Beginning, End.

I'm sad.

May favorite memory is trade negotiations back in 2002 - 2004 (maybe some 2005). That was when the league was.......the RWBL.

I'll miss the RWBL, but mostly the people.

It seems that some of the problems stemmed from switching to ootp8. The league was fun to follow with 5.14/6.5 (as most leagues were) but just like ootp, it became more work than fun and more convoluted (with rules and settings) and corrupt.

Easily the best league I ever had the pleasure to be a part of. Met many people who I am still friends with to this day, and I haven't been in the league for years.

I was the Pirates for about two sims. Then I realized that I just didn't have time. I wish that I had stuck around longer.

I'll echo this - I had a great time building the Astros into a perennial failure.

That was the start of the league, and after which the league could have fallen apart, but thanks to real hard work and a great job by nothingman, raven, Swaggs, bsak, kaz and countless others, the league got by that and turned into one of the longest running ootp leagues probably out there. (From like 2001? until now)

Not to sully it's memory with an ad, but if any old RWBLers are interested, FOOL may be expanding soon four more teams. If it does, former RWBLers Anthony (HA) and dangarion would likely be two of those new owners, and I would probably be a third. But the league won't likely consider it without four human owners, so if another former RWBLer still wants to be in a league, this is a good chance to jump in (and with an expansion team you yourself can build from the ground up).

See the FOOL Waiting List thread in the sub-forum under the Baseball Text Sim forum to apply.

It was almost as bad as when Vazquez was pitching for them.

Didn't they have Betemit too? Once they acquire Wells in 2010, they'll have had all the greats.

Still not as traumatic as finding out Gabe Gross was white.

RWBL was the first league I was ever in, and no other league I ever joined could match the feeling I had for the RWBL. Everyone that helped run the league and that participated in the league contributed to my full enjoyment of it! I'm really going to miss the RWBL.

Same here. I was the Mets owner for maybe a week when I realized I didn't have the time that needed to be put into the team to make it competitive...

Hardly anyone calls me Turlos anymore! The CFBL was fun for me as it was my "start" in online multiplayer sim leagues. I know in the later RWBL days a bunch of guys that were in CFBL ended up in RWBL too.

These days I am still in a couple of OOTP leagues, but the most fun for me is the fast sim multiplayer league. I never thought it would be so much fun, but it basically focuses the most on offseason transactions, drafts, free agency, trading and a bunch less on the day to day rotation/lineup changes. It feels a bunch more like a GM role and a lot less like a manager role and I enjoy that alot now.

i'd certainly be down. i stopped by the RWBL forum about a couple of weeks ago to see if i could take over my 4th team in this league but saw the wheels had already come off. i'd definitely be down for another RWBL type league again with some of the owners you mentioned.

little known fact - HornsManiac and I started RWBL. i dropped out (i had taken the Mets) cuz of problems getting it started and some early initial drama. i came back about a couple months later to see it was still going on (this was after HM got kicked out). i went from the Mets (which i never physically controlled for a sim), the Twins to the DBacks.

my fav moment was the nite i stood up just waiting for one of you guys to come on IM so i could try to unload the $30million a year ARod from my DBacks, considering he was already 35 i was like "i have to trade him for what little i can get, he's got several years remaining on his deal". and like a glorious blast of light and music the Marlins owner came online and i got him to take that mega contract off my hand for some rather solid players.

My favorite RWBL moments were:

1) The long conversation about OOTP strategy with bsak
2) Anytime Toronto lost
3) Pitching Pedro every other game vs Cleveland in the playoffs so I wouldn't have to start Chan Ho Park
