PureSim Predicts the 2007 playoffs: BOS vs. ANA

OK, I spent the weekend importing the latest MLB stats into PureSim and have full 2007 stats (less today's game) imported.

So, I figured I'd use sandbox mode to pit BOS and ANA against eachother for 162 games. I set it to 4-man rotations and let the AI do everything.

The Red Sox won the 162 game series 92-70! I like our chances

Here are the stats exported from PureSim's Almanac.

Guess I'll do Yankees Indians next if anyone is interested?

Tweak

Note, I just let it import and run, I didn't take out guys like Donnelly that are hurt, so it's not 100% scientific

I like the results though

Looks like it could be a low scoring series

That report you printed, as funny as this might sound, has made me want to check out PureSim again. Right now.

Yea, I noticed that. I guess it makes sense given the 4 man rotations and the Lackey, Beckett, Schill, Dice K, K Rod and Papelbon.

Are you not using DH, is that why the pitchers have hitting stats? If so, that is part of the reason the numbers are trending lower.

Just ran Yanks vs. Indians - Wow

I ran 162 games Yanks v. Indians. Guess what? A dead heat 81 wins each. Too funny!

One big surprise too, Mussina came up big with a 3.03 ERA! That's a cool thing about PureSim, when players are imported a lot more than just the current season's stats impact a players ratings. In this case, looks like PureSim doesn't think Moose is ready to hang em up {gulp}

Anyway, here is the almanac

This was fun. I watched the last 3 games it was so close

I am a dope! Let me re-run them with the DH

Results with DH

1. Sox 101-61 over Angels (Go Sox!)

Here's the almanac

2. Indians kill the Yanks 92-70 (I love it!)

Here's the almanac

Nice!

Gonna be interesting to see how it'll work with the 5 games in 8 days schedule (which means the 1-2 pitch four out of the five games)

Well considering I am playing a "season" with only 2 teams, there is certainly a chance of that!
