TechEBlog » Guatemala Sinkhole Opens
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Ameri...sn-t-seem-real Did you guys see this? I've seen a sink hole up close in Alabama. It's not pretty. This one is a bit too well formed. Call it the cynical scientist in me, but something CUT that formation either in or out. Last edited by ace1914 : 06-01-2010 at 06:31 PM. |

I saw this earlier today... very freaky. None of the pictures look real to me. Sadly, it is.

BTW, I looked it up, and this is Guatamala's, 2nd perfectly rounded sink hole. The first one in 2007?
I need the odds on that please. |

One of the recent sink holes in Tennessee looked nearly as perfect. When the surrounding ground is equal, ground just tends to destabilize in a circle I suppose.

The opening may be end up being a circle, but that's a LOT of weight to fall and maintain the geometry all the way down.

Yeah, can you see the big spider crawling out of it. Maybe it will be an oil eating spider that is coming to save the Gulf.
