Hey DC, Just wondering if you would want your team name back and would let me move this team to canada?

Nope.

It was part of your ownership contract, sorry.

But if you find someone to take the team over, I'll let you move one of the other unoccupied teams (not New York, though) and take them over.

The FTP server isn't working and while I have a multitude of other places to move the file, it would be a hassle for people to have to download a new .zip file, unpack it and then update to a new file the day before the season starts.

Sooo...I just wrote tech support and I'll find out what's wrong with this one right now. If the file doesn't go out tonight, then I'll work out an extension for final exports. But...they should get back to me before the night is over.

I hope.

Toronto is well...yeah.

And New York isn't gonna move anyplace.

Where in Canada were you looking to move, anyway?

One potential problem. I work all day tomorrow, and will be leaving for the airport right after that. It's tonight or never for me, I'm afraid.

Uh yeah. You'd be a silly man to give that team up. But they'll always be in Compton. Continuity might not be our strong suit, but...for some of the teams, they're just gonna get somewhere, get a cool name/history behind them and then just get entrenched.

It usually is tied to the success they have.

Can you upload the full file somewhere else as a download location that we can download out of game (but leave the internal ftp settings on it for the uploads tomorrow once the ftp server is fixed)? That way people who want to pull it down earlier can do so (with the understanding that it is a huge download and will take a while), and then everyone else can get it once the normal ftp server is fixed?

Just asking because I likely will be gone most of tommorrow and tommorrow evening and likely alot of Saturday (it is my weekend with my girls).

This from the server host in question, regarding the server:

There is a little maintenance on the server and your site will be back online within a few minutes.

So we'll just wait a few minutes. I'm gonna go get some dinner and then try it in a bit to put the file up. I'll let you all know when it's online.

If you can't hang around long enough to get the file, I would suggest sending DC some instructions, if neither of you mind that that is. I just hate to see you screwed over on this.

New York is being taken over by FOFC user vex. Welcome him to the league. I dunno if he'll be there this weekend or if he'll wait until next week, but...he'll be taking over them.

I am anxious to see this seasons results now that we have our homefield back that this team was built for. I just hope we win it all again this year and keep my owner and his high expectations happy like we did the last time he wanted us to bring home the trophy.

LF Akihiro Shimizu signed a 1-year/$12 million deal with Hartford. He was released by New York before vex took over. He's only a 4-star prospect and he's in the minors for the year. Whatever works. Hasn't developed yet and might never...

Umm..you want to fix your sig to say "1970 RL Champions." It's not a division, you won the whole league.

And no, I don't think so. I think I'm gonna sim to August 1st and then do the rest tomorrow.

Valdosta is a freakin' steamroller, that's all I've got to say about that. I will upload a stage file for everyone to see how their team is doing right now...I'll let you know when it's done. All you can do is look at it and wish things were different, not actually make changes that'll take.

Oh, come on and let me make a move. Two or three minors tweaks and I know I could come back from 30 games behind in two months.

Rio Grande has dropped off. I guess those old guys may not strike magic again eh? Pretty sad, but I am riding it out for now.

Hehe...I know, right? At least you know that your moves would only improve your chances to save face. It's harder knowing you can't make ANY moves when you're within striking distance in a tight race. At least you got a title out of your run. And you've got guys you'll send to the HoF with your cap. Tanaka is a masterstroke deal, the first FA signing that had such a huge impact to a team's fortunes.

Depending on how long my gf stays on the phone, I might be tempted to run out the rest of the season. File is uploading right now, so that'd be kinda lame...but...I'm really curious how this one ends. Of course, it'll be painful to have the dream end too soon, so I'm just gonna savor the fact that we're in the hunt sooner than I expected and within striking distance going down the stretch.

I'd love to see the rest of the season tonight since i work late tomorrow but thats all up to you ofcourse. I am surprised quad city is in the mix that tight, i really thought they would be in the middle somewhere but i guess you never know with this game. I thought i was stacked pretty good in the bulpen and at bats but i guess not.

Boston's a real dark horse. They have REALLY strong pitchers. Pitching is the word of the day in this league, because we've got SO many talented hitters. And he's got some strong players on the offense side too and bolstered his team with Stanford Jones, too. He's a good squad.

In Compton, you dealt WAY too much of your pitching strength over the past few years and I think that...you overestimated the talent at the bottom of your rotation, even with the guy you acquired from Hartford.

Ann Arbor has finished 2nd every year since they won the Classic, so they're always up there. And Quad City, we really reloaded. We've got a lot of young players on the come up, our pitching staff would've been more dominant had I not let Hardee go, but...I felt we needed outfield depth and I wasn't sure I could/would want to pay for talent that would be coming down the line, so I'm okay with that deal.

But if you take a look at our team, I just knew that if certain guys played the way they could/should, that we'd be right in the mix.

For a franchise that has NEVER had a winning season and is almost guaranteed to have one this year, I'm ecstatic. I have no illusions that we're strong enough to win this year, but at the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if we pulled off the unthinkable.

I traded away one bad pitcher and one good pitcher but flores was ready this year and Myers looked like a better 5th starter than what we had last year.
Then i added more talent in the bulpen and 3 big bats with only sacraficing harris which wasn't all that good anyway. I really thought i improved the team on paper and am very surprised to see what has happened thus far but i guess you never know, 5 games back i guess we still have a shot but it don't look good.
