San Francisco would be appropriate...with the whole New York Giants move there.

Since it'll only hang at Gothams Stadium, I think the fans will be able to put 2 and 2 together.

Or Kansas City.

Even a return to St. Louis, perhaps.

Newark?

Maybe this generation. Will their kids or their kids' kids remember that one championship, though?

No. Never a Vegas team.

I just meant that I was feeling nostalgic over the original New York juggernaut moving someplace else.

You're ripping the hearts out of the Highlander faithful.

We'll deal with that in 20 years. In FOOL, that's what, next month?

Edit:

OF COURSE THEY WILL. Fans in Baltimore are so jazzed about the return of the Gothams, that those old banners they used to have that said "Baltimore County is GOTHAMS County" are back out.

These are the first nation of FOOL baseball, folks.

Obviously, at the behest of ownership, I'll do what they wish with said banners.

As for defense, let me know when we switch to a game platform where that matters.

I will soon be in need of a C so this is more of a "team need" then anything else...

Hey, don't post anymore. I'm going to split this thread up into an off-season and 1978 season thread, so someone reading it doesn't have to sift through 8 pages just to go through the season.

File is almost done.

we get a lot of the NY Metro area to our games. Long Island is a safer place to park your car than Brooklyn, especially at nite.

Oh, screw me gently with a chainsaw.

I think I figured out why I started hot and then collapsed.

I had 5 SPs. But gave myself a FOUR man rotation on strict order.

I'm sure that was loads of fun for my 59 END #1.

Shoot. I did that last year, only I had 6 toggled and meant to do 5. So my spot ended up pitching in the 6th spot.

Man, I was 29-30 after July 1.

I was also 39-38 at home...and 38-39 on the road. Huh?

And I actually got worse against lefties this year after pumping up my lineup with lefty hitters. Go figure.

Good old Anthony Zijm. 36 years old, still throwing a sub-3 ERA, and wants to resign for half of what he's currently being paid. I think he wants to close out his career with Toronto.

I'm officially blaming this season on DC for not letting me rename the team Denver ;- )

On a positive note, we actually didn't wilt in August as was the case in previous years. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance in September to do anything.

10 blown saves by my closer. That hurts. My pitching rankings look awful, but the staff didn't do so bad. They just didn't have anyone do really great either. And the closer was awful.

Good news is, Miller was asking for $3.5M plus before on a 3-4 year contract, forget which. Now he just wants $410K for two years.

I'm going to bed now. A 3rd place finish is a step in the right direction, at least. Could've been worse against the juggernaut that is Hartford. My goodness. I bet Jeremy never expected to be in this position, but goodness it has to be sweet.

Pictures need to be killed until the majors or something. It kind of kills the point of them when my 18 year old Taiwanese kid looks like a 60 year old white manager.

Other then that I don't have much to comment on my season. I guess I will get lucky again one day, until then I will stink.

They are. But it could be a picture that the game generated of someone else and just reused his player number. I'll fix it in-game later.

I also didn't realize that with morale off guys still demand trades. I had 2.

i'm really pissed Hartford is such an unstoppable force. without them i really think the Violators had a very championship worthy team. i wasn't expecting us to be 2nd best in the division. that's quite a leap from being one of the middling, average teams of the RL.

Agreed, you seem to be having a heck of a season so far.... Or had a heck of a season (since its already over and im just reading about it now).... I wasnt thinking you would near the top this year at all. Good job with that

and kudos to me for picking up 2B Daniels. i loved his eye and gap ability. i had him way down in the lineup, nice to see he was able to make it happen. now with us picking up that 2B right before the season started...wow, big things going on in Long Island. exciting times. Hartford better relish the taste of champagne, i don't think they'll be tasting it often after this season is over.

You love talking shit

we shall return to this statement after the classic.

With the start of the new season (let this one go in the books as NY) and with the league officials' approval, the New york Highlanders would like to pack the trucks and go west, to

Las Vegas

and set up a new home, The Panthers Den

I really like this idea!!!!!

On a positive note, we actually didn't wilt in August as was the case in previous years. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance in September to do anything.

Id blame it on the shit you started throwing my way before the season.... The OOTP gods didnt like it much i guess.

We shall see if thats the case and follows suit next year now that Long Island has already started to throw some my way as well.

No I never thought this would happn at all.... 16 seasons before even making the playoffs.... Its nice to be on the other side for once.... I took my lumps and paid my dues before even sniffing a good team, so ya its a fun ride all of a sudden

Have to win one more series though against a good Baltimore team that has had some rebuilding of his own going on..... Gotham power came back strong!!

Man, when I think I have this game figured out, I have no clue whats going on. I thought I had at least 4 decent starting pitchers, but apparently I have only one now. Perreault is somehow a shell of his former self, but without the ratings drop. Wilkins' ratings have improved but his ERA is 5.

Can't say that I was expecting our crappiest year in a long time. Expect plenty of changes this season in Columbus.
