is tonight free agency? I'm really off my game after all the traveling I've done the past 2 weeks.

Okay, don't mind me, I think I left half my brain in DC, and the other half somewhere in northeast Texas.

I have a few manual changes that Chief had asked me to do that I need to process real quick. Anyone who still needs/wants to upload, you have about 5-10 minutes probably

Remember this league the VL will be folded. There will be some ok free agents available after the FOOL CLassic this upcoming season prior to the official start of free agency, in case anyone wants to save money for those players. At least 10-12 decent prospect types will be available.

Today is the first day of the free agency period.

With the arrival of free agency comes the opportunity for each club across Front Office Offseason League to propel themselves into the playoffs simply by making a few shrewd, well-calculated signings. General managers have to choose wisely where to spend their dollars. An expensive signing could be the key to a playoff spot or it could handcuff a franchise for years to come.

This year's key free agents include:

1. Harry Mason, 36 year-old starting pitcher
2. Randy Wright, 23 year-old starting pitcher
3. Joe McGrath, 29 year-old starting pitcher
4. Ed Morgan, 26 year-old center fielder
5. Sandro Gonzáles, 26 year-old starting pitcher
6. Maresuke Saito, 29 year-old starting pitcher
7. Edgardo Reyes, 37 year-old right fielder
8. Martin Austin, 29 year-old reliever
9. Stanley Patterson, 27 year-old center fielder
10. Nori Kitamura, 32 year-old starting pitcher

Well I was 12 out of 16 teams in salary cap space at 57.5 million this year. Next years cap before this sim has me at 53.8 mil and I cut C-Dan long with his whopping 1.3 mil 2 year deal and I loose 2nd-Hass and 1B-Brooks in FA.

We know, we know, you hate the pooners right????

Parker finally retired eh? Been waiting for that one to happen, although his ratings never dropped like some other guys.

I see a pretty busy 2-3 days for me has enabled me to miss an important export tonight and 4 players walk away from my team. I hope to get a couple back but I am sure that is all I get, on the lucky side. My prediction is another last place finish. I am just a stink bomb of stinking now it seems.

There's something wacky with Jonas Leis. He showed in my salary report as being renewed for league minimum this year, but he actually renewed at 5.9 million. I'm not quite sure I understand why. Is this one of the situations where a player's service time is whacked, or did I screw up bad signing this guy thinking he'd go down in price?

I was counting on having that extra 5 million for free agency. It's going to put a kink in my plans if I screwed up on this.

Its because San Diego signed him to a 1 year 5.9 deal and stuck him on the major league team that year. If he stuck him back in the minors after he signed that deal the following year he would have been back on a minor league deal.

If you sign a guy that has never played in the majors to a 1 year deal and stick him on the majors roster his contract will roll over until with the exact same amount that he got signed for until he hits his arb years.

Im assuming you didnt know cause you didnt do that deal, and you got him in a trade which kinda blows.... Sorry its not the answer you were looking for Kaos.

DC on a side note can you sticky that thread until whoever gets the manuel together for everyone???

Bahhhhh.

Alrighty. Well... would there be an objection if I wanted to release him? Being on a year-to-year contract is like being your last year every year, right?

If he is not on a multi-year contract, you can release any player in the last year of their contract. Just remember there is less money spare this year though, I am not sure that releasing players now will free up much money for you.

Yup, we're all at $65 M right now. You cut someone right now, that's cap room, I believe, unless the owner let's you spend to a negative balance in anticipation of additional revenue.

Just a note, due to my manual entry mistake, Gerald Grant and Jim Oulton were removed from Atlanta accidentally. I'll be putting them back on their team for what they were due to receive this season. Letting everyone know in case people were thinking of making offers for them.

I know very little regarding the Picture options or graphics within OOTP. The majority of my research over the years has had more to do with how the game engine works, the ratings, etc. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve these areas, please let me know. I am all ears!

I'd suggest regenerating all of the pictures. The problem might have been when we switched the management of things from your machine to mine, that might not have been so kind about migrating everything over. OOTP data files and the files that are generated along with them are bulky, at best.

I'd just suggest generating new pictures for everyone in the majors. You could run an update, but I dunno how well it'd work.

You might even, before doing that, go into your html/images/ file within the league folder and delete all of the files with player_*.jpg to ensure that whatever you generate fresh, gets updated to everyone anew.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

Why don't we turn them off for everything below majors too? (Off altogether would be fine with me.... )

I am not a big pictures guy as is obvious, but I know there are several people in the league who really get into making of jerseys and caps for their teams. If that helps their immersion for the league, I am more than happy keeping it turned on. I think some of the jerseys that they have come up with and logos have been outstanding too.

Speaking of jerseys, Alan, I didn't mention it because I know you were busy taking over and I didn't want to be a pain, but it looks like you updated by cap with my new design, but I still have my old jersey. When you regenrate everything, could you try to update my jersey png, too?

Tim, I'm pretty sure we have minor league images off. Or, at least, DC did. I suspect that would carry over in the league settings, but I'm not positive.

Don't be so sure. There were many settings that did not carry over that I have to manually re-adjust. Unless there is some objection, I'll make sure pictures are for the majors only tonight.

Yeah all my old guys photos are minors (rookies).

=facetious. I know people like the jerseys, in fact I think the Panthers duds are pretty spiffy.
