Yeah. It'll stop now, but not in a good way.

I blew my wad on a three-year window. It worked for the first year, but I got completely hosed by luck last year and gave it up to NV. This year, it looks like the exact same thing is happening. (Although I'm less annoyed by it this year. My team is not as good as it was last year. I'm still utterly annoyed with that team's faceplant.)

At any rate... I'm now on the bad side of a big contract, all my pitching is old and tired, and I'm going to have to enter a rebuilding period with just one good finish out of three years to show for it.

Not what I was hoping for.

I'm going to be mediocre for the next four or five years, and these boys deserved better than that, dammit.

However, in Atlanta Baltimore beats the Firecrackers 5-1 to clinch the Continental Cup! Baltimore will face off against Napa Valley in the Continental League Championships.

Nah, I wouldn't have had the players, I'm telling you. I'd still have Hart, but I wouldn't have been able to put much out there other than him and some retreads. I had to break it all down.

Well so much for last year being a fluke. Congrats to Napa Valley.

And of course, my hats off to the Hartford juggernaut. Another layer to the title this year, but...you can do it.

Congrats, ekcut! Rodriguez is your MVP, I'll bet. He exceeded even my big expectations for those types of pitchers.

Congrats, of course, to muns, Teach and Ramz, who gets a nice little prize, considering he is leaving us as soon as we can replace him.

Kudos to Baltimore and San Diego too. For the first time since '63, 2nd place actually means something again!

I'm actually going to pull for Hartford this year. He needs one before we start taking them all.

I'm gonna look like such an idiot if we don't pull this off

This is probably important to re-state for the playoff teams involved. I did not want an unfair advantage to go to anyone just because they could be here during the sim, so this is what i had previously posted for the playoffs:

CHANGE #1: Starting in 1983, the playoff format will switch to the top two teams in each league making the playoffs and facing each other in a League Championship Series. The League Championship series will be a best of 7 game series and the winner of each will win the right to face off in the FOOL Classic, which will remain a best of 9 game series.

The initial planned schedule to accommodate the extra playoff series will start off unchanged. Both the League Championship Series AND the Fool Classic will be simmed on Sunday evening. I will allow playoff participating teams to send me a PM with any simple pitcher or lineup conditional changes for if they happen to make it to the FOOL Classic under various scenerios.

We will re-evaluate that schedule once Thanksgiving is done with to see if the league would prefer adding an additional Saturday sim for the purpose of the League Championship series instead. I do not want to expand the schedule prior to Thanksgiving however.

There will be a "cool down" period between the championship series and the FOOL Classic for "TV purposes" which your pitching rotation will be able to reset itself if you wish. Otherwise I'll accept simple conditional orders via PM BEFORE the start of the sim on Sunday night from any of the playoff coaches.

Tasan I totally disagree.... You had the pitching and enough hitting to be number 2..... I had you pegged as the team to bring me down in the upcoming playoff system.

If Jeremy wins this year, you'll be tied with Alan for 7 league titles. That's...quite the record. I mean, not that I thought my record would stand forever, but...it's pretty fun company with you all up near the top.

Oops, those league leaders were without the last game of the season simmed.. so maybe subtle changes here or there.

this team is closer to contending for the playoffs (numerous 3rd place finishes the last 5 years) than contending for top picks in the draft, so i'm not inclined to throw up the red flag just yet. i didn't have high hopes for this team this year, hence my being rather silent in the offseason. this is why i say when i think i got a good team you'll know about it, i don't talk a lot if i don't believe it.

They already kicked in. Ewing does not consider himself to be one of the top tier of players (and arguably his stats don't say that he is either) where it affected him at all. You should only see it kick in on the stars or superstar type players.

I find two things funny about Riggs no-hitter.

1. Just like in RL he feels he has to stick it to me for playing him in AAA before I traded him.
2. This was not even one of his top 25 game performances of the year for pitchers because of the 7 walks and low strike out total.

On another subject, I was a little sad when Lang's bat started really to fade after turning 30, but this season he lost quite a bit of his great defense as well. Oh how I hope he retires out of the blue this year or in the very near future so he can go into the FOOL HOF having only started for the Brownstones his entire career; since I am not sure I will ever drop him out of the starting lineup.

Phil Deen was a special September call up just to pitch in that series against you.

Phil Deen actually had better numbers in rookie ball than Jesus Pena did. Its no wonder Chief Rum is so *(&^ing good at this game.

B.J. Silver of Long Island broke the record for the number of Shutouts in a season. He had 6 this year which broke the previous record of 5 that had been done by five different pitchers, the first one in 1965.
