At one point this month, there was a 5 way tie for the CL Wildcard lead. Also Boston led the RL outright for a bit before a late month drop off. |

It is also now the mid-season mark. As normal, if anyone has 1 player they would like to ask about, to see how they are doing this season.. post it now. Please keep it only to one player so we don't take forever here.

In other news, isn't Carlos Romero yet another shining former Panther/Highlander?

Your idea of tanking is to be in the wildcard hunt? Wyoming is showing you who's boss.

Thanks Alan. I guess Newell was indeed ready for the Show despite my misgivings and his spring.

No, I was predicting my usual sub-.500 June putting me into 5th. And I was right! At this point, I think I'm safely out of the WC hunt. July usually sucks for me, too. I'm not sure why. It just does. |

Wyoming probably wants to know about popcorn sales, or whether the entire fired marketing department has prevailed in their wrongful termination suit. The Wyoming Scrooge McDucks.

Hmm...I dunno. I guess I'm cautiously optimistic about what happens. I knew San Diego (and obviously, Hartford) would cause me problems. I still say we're probably a year away. But...I hope we can keep it close for as long as possible.
That said, I'm curious to hear how Long Island explains this year's standings... |

July 29th, 1984: Steven McGill (Hartford) goes 2 for 4 in a 4-3 win over Columbus for the 29th consecutive game in a row with a hit. This breaks Ed Wilson's (formerly of Gary/Valdosta) 23 year old record for most games in a row with a hit.
As of August 1st, McGill has reached 31 games in a row with a hit and is still counting. |

Has to be the stratagy at this point considering in the past 5 years the team has not performed above expectations once and are -18 games under expectations in that time period.

With 39 games to play I have exceeded the past 3 years' win total.
I'm just sorry Chief wasn't able to be here to share it with me.

Colorado peeking out from behind the curtains there. Don't expect that to be the case next year. We should be up at the front, enjoying the view for once.

Wyoming made a smart move by spending little to nothing. Next year's free agent class is a real bounty.

It seems most of the suspense of who will be making the playoffs is gone. The main races left are to see which team will have home field advantage in each league championship series. Hartford and Baltimore both have a magic number of 10 to win their respective league regular season titles. Both have a magic number of 2 to make the playoffs period. Atlanta and San Diego both have a magic number of 3 to make the playoffs. |

Means that we have a 3 out of 4 chance of one owner claiming his 3rd FOOL championship this year if the numbers hold up.

Or alternately, DC and I humbly petition to continue playoff expansion, 3 make it from each league this year, 4 next year etc.
