For the record, I don't know how many teams bid on him, but I think at least 8 teams put in PMs with instructions for "if Archuleta" signs. That is probably a record as best I can remember. So this first 10 minutes should be fun to watch!

Yes! Hopefully he'll help make up for the gaping holes around the rest of the team. My 5 man rotation should be pretty solid.

I'm glad I didn't bid on him. It was tempting, but I had a pretty good idea that others with more cash would do the same.

i'm remember that year and I really thought I was going to be last place...i was actually kind of hoping for a top draft pick and all I kept thinking was how important a top pitcher is to keep your team afloat

Keyte becomes just the 5th player in FOOL history to join the 500 homer club!!

Saturday, April 15th, 2034: Keyte Joins Kings of Clout with #500
Edmonton Edge slugging right fielder Ben Keyte swatted his way to the 500 home run mark today as the Edge fell to the Tokyo 6-5.

For his part, Keyte chipped in 2 RBI, scored 1 run and collected 1 hit in 2 at-bats, but it was not enough to turn the tide.

"It was a special day for Ben," the team publicist said afterward, "He was disappointed at the result, but everyone was all smiles as he crossed home plate. We're proud of him."

Keyte is hitting at a .295 rate over his 2566-game career. Lifetime he has 432 doubles, 28 triples and 500 home runs with 1912 RBIs and 1442 runs scored.

lol that was one of the more "fun" seasons for me in recent memory. Although im sure it ruined your night. Tough to want that draft pick and plan to rebuild and then realize your there at the end.

Monday, May 1st, 2034:Bullpen Ace Wins Best RL Pitcher
Terry Dodson has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Harpooners bullpen ace collected 1 save and 19 strikeouts in 25.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .193 average and posting a 2.49 ERA and a 5-0 record.

Hrm. The state of pitching (in the RL at least) must be horrific outside of a few high end guys. There is no way we should have won 15 games with the staff we have.

Thursday, June 1st, 2034: Hensley Chosen May's Best CL Hurler
At his age, not many pitchers can still get the job done. But Mike Hensley for Boston can still throw the ball, and do it well. The 40-year-old reliever was selected the Continental League Pitcher of the Month for May earlier today -- not only satisfying himself, but silencing the critics who said, "The old man's just lost too much to compete at this level anymore."

The old man definitely still has it, making 12 relief appearances and throwing 14 innings as he stacked up 8 saves, 15 strikeouts and a fine 1.29 ERA and 3-0 mark.

Thus far this season Hensley has registered 21 relief appearances, worked 24 innings, struck out 27 and issued 3 walks. He has 13 saves with a 0.75 ERA and a 4-0 won-lost mark.
