.325, 3 HR, 38 RBI, OPS = .803. (POW = 19)

He's hitting ok, but at 23 years old he sure got brought up early. Taking a gamble that he'll actually develop that power fully at the majors?

His POW has developed very slowly. Maybe 4 total points over the last three seasons. I got sick of waiting.

Sunday, July 19th, 2037: 300 Homers for Roy
Ryan Roy hit a historic home run today -- career blast number 300. "I am happy to be in such elite company. It has been quite a ride so far," Roy said after the game.

The Cyclones third baseman went 1 for 4 with 1 home run and 1 run batted in as the Tokyo Cyclones won 5-4 over the Newark Terriers.

Over his career Roy has batted .287 and collected 2051 hits, 300 home runs and 1283 RBIs.

Friday, July 24th, 2037:Settlers Rodríguez Tames Newark
Marcos Rodríguez was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Terriers. He shut them out 7-0 on 2 hits with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

The Boston manager said, "Marcos was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."

The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Rodríguez has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."

In 2037 Rodríguez has a 9-7 record with a 3.13 ERA.

Monday, July 27th, 2037: Dimiceli Reaches 2000 Milestone
The Apex contest with Tokyo featured a real shining moment: Sandro Dimiceli, the Assassins right fielder, collected career base hit #2000. That his team lost the game, 4-3, took away only a little bit of the luster. Fittingly, the 31-year-old Dimiceli, who went 2-for-4, received a warm ovation from the Assasins Ballpark crowd.

Over his 1539-game career Dimiceli has compiled a .324 batting average and collected 2001 hits, 59 home runs and 647 RBIs.

Tuesday, July 28th, 2037: Newark's Rosário Reaches 2000 Hits
Apex beat Newark 8-2 yesterday at Zion Stadium, but it still was a good game for Terriers third baseman Diego Rosário, who went 1-for-4 and reached the 2000-hit mark.

In his career Rosário has played in 2045 games with a .256 batting average. Among his 2000 hits are 512 doubles, 82 triples, and 123 home runs. He also has scored 1087 runs, walked 471 times, has 368 stolen bases and driven in 899 runs.

Saturday, August 1st, 2037: Retter Gets July's Top Pitcher Trophy

Saturday, August 1st, 2037: Hammersmith Catcher July's #1 Rookie
Jeffery Williams was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 23-year-old catcher definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen July's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 24 games Williams batted .343 for Hammersmith, slapping 35 hits in 102 at-bats with 3 home runs, drove in 20 runs and scored 20 times.

In his stats this season, Williams has posted a batting average of .335 with 126 hits in 376 at-bats, 5 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has also scored 60 runs, walked 21 times and compiled a .381 OBP.

Saturday, August 1st, 2037: July's Best Rookie Honored by CL
José Villa is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In July the Boston hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .357 average with 35 hits, 2 home runs and 11 RBIs.

Villa is batting .314 with 3 home runs and 58 RBIs this season.

Saturday, August 8th, 2037: It's Over: Cyclones Stop Ledrew
All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for Justin Ledrew as he saw his 26-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 3 at-bats at the hands of the Cyclones. It wasn't all bad for the 27-year-old first baseman and the Napa Valley Winemakers, as they defeated Tokyo 7-1 at Ballpark of Napa Valley.

When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Ledrew laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today."

So far this season Ledrew has 16 home runs and a .296 batting average.

Yeah, was .400 with 2 or 3 days to go. Haven't had a .400 hitter since 1989

Thursday, August 20th, 2037: Cyclones Halt Broomhead's Hit Streak
Dan Broomhead, third baseman for the Edmonton Edge, gave it a good try, but his day in history finally came to an end, when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Tokyo Cyclones. Not only had they stopped his 27-game hitting streak, they had beaten Edmonton 6-2, too.

Speaking with the media after the game, Broomhead said, "Now that the streak has ended, I admit I will breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat. It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."

This season Broomhead is hitting .329 with 158 hits, 15 home runs, 77 RBIs, scored 71 runs and played in 118 games.

Wednesday, August 26th, 2037: Moya Baffles Newark
"It was just one of those games, when everything went right. I threw a lot of strikes," Albert Moya said. "And the pitches they did get to hit, they didn't do anything with them."

The Edmonton Edge pitcher really got it done in his 4-0 shutout victory over the Newark Terriers, shutting them down on 1 hit. Moya issued 4 walks and had 5 strikeouts.

In the 2037 season Moya has 12 wins and 9 losses and a 3.79 ERA.

Thursday, August 27th, 2037: O'Bryan Launches Number 300
The New York Heroes defeated the Hartford Harpooners 5-0 yesterday in a game that featured Paul O'Bryan's 300th career home run.

In the clubhouse, the Heroes third baseman spoke about the milestone achievement. "To be honest, I don't even remember my first home run," he said. "But this one I don't think I'll forget. Who knows if I'll hit another hundred, or fifty, or even ten?"

On his historic day, O'Bryan banged out 1 hit in 3 at-bats and scored 1 run with 2 runs batted in.

Lifetime O'Bryan is batting .296 with 2313 hits, 300 home runs, 1266 runs scored and 1298 RBIs.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2037: Gu August's Best Hurler in RL
Po-fu Gu left little doubt in the minds of Republic League officials that he should be named August's Pitcher of the Month for his outstanding performance.

"I wasn't always confident at the start of a game," said Gu. "Sometimes it's hard to get into the flow -- the calls aren't going your way or you're trying to spot your pitches too much. You just have to relax and use what you've been taught all your life -- get back to basics -- good mechanics, control, location, keep the ball down."

The 32-year-old tossed 47.1 innings of quality baseball -- going 4-1 with a 3.04 ERA and 22 strikeouts.

Up to now Gu has compiled an ERA of 4.25 with a 18-8 mark over 32 starts. He has 110 strikeouts in 239.1 innings and has held opponents to a .268 batting average.

That one hurts. I really wish I could have kept him, but I think Chen was the better investment.

Not good news for other teams, I would guess. If Gu is doing this, and Betancourt is being Betancourt, that's a lot of wins there.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2037: Juteau Gets CL Batter of the Month Trophy
Dave Juteau battered Continental League pitchers all August and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I put in a lot of work, even on the days I may not take the field and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 27 games, Juteau hit .327 with 9 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

For the year Juteau is batting .311 with 142 hits and 24 home runs. He has scored 84 times and driven in 79.

Yeah, you have to assume a player will drop in avg as they get older. The question is if Dawson will or not. he is perhaps one of the best players we have ever seen. (Perhaps better than Romero even)

Good races for the last spot in both, and the CL is tight all over.
