NCAA 2006: MU Tigers

Can I take the Missouri Tigers to a Big 12 title and possible National Champs? Will I start another dynasty only to lose interest after a few posts?

These questions and more will be answered.. as so far, this game has been quite a blast to play.

The setup:
NCAA 2006 PS2
AA Defaults
Penalties all at 99%
8 Min. Quarters

2005 Schedule:
Week 1 vs Arkansas State
Week 2 vs New Mexico
Week 3 vs Troy
Week 4 BYE
Week 5 vs Texas
Week 6 at Oklahoma State
Week 7 vs Iowa State
Week 8 vs Nebraska
Week 9 at Kansas
Week 10 at Colorado
Week 11 vs Baylor
Week 12 at Kansas State

* Since this is a season already in progress, I will recap the games that have been played so far as well as bring you up to speed on the recruiting process so far. I'll also spice this up with some graphical tables from dynastymanager.com as I have a subscription there, but don't have the time to enter all of the data to accurately do it justice on that website. *

Team Goals:

Needs:
QB (1)
DT (1)
CB (2)
FS (1)

Offense (* denotes starter):

Quarterbacks
#16 QB B. Smith SR(RS) (95) * [Impact Player]
#11 QB B. Coleman JR(RS) (84)
#14 QB C. Patton FR(RS) (80)

Running Backs

#77 C A. Spieker SO(RS) (85) *
#64 C J. Dirk FR(RS) (68)
#55 RG M. Cook JR(RS) (82) *

#74 RT J. Clinger JR(RS) (78) *
#67 RT L. Pintola JR (76)
#73 RT D. Lazaroff SO(RS) (68)

Two impact players, a good young offensive line, and a heisman hopeful QB. If we can stay healthy, I look for this offense to really take off. QB Brad Smith is a two edged sword.. a player who can pass and if nothing is there, run like a skilled RB. Should be a fun season with him at the helm and I hope he can compete for the heisman this year.

You're not kidding. I almost thought about resetting the game at that point.

As you will see, backup Brandon Coleman is going to go through some growing pains.

Is it just a coincidence my home town high school team is the Troy Trojans? QB Brandon Coleman had a rough game, particularly in the third quarter, where Troy extended a 7 point lead into a 24 point lead.

We hold on until the fourth quarter then the Texas crowd gets their team pumped up as they score 21 points to put the game away. After two great rushing games by Woods, he's been held by two good defensive teams.

Hmm...outscored 73-27 in the second half the last three games...perhaps the coach needs to strategize when it comes to the pep talk? Seriously...hard to overcome an injury like that, good luck with the rest of the season.

Since you are only controlling QB and/or RB on offense, are there any particular house rules set up for play?

Coleman has had some rough moments that have changed the momentum in games, that's for sure. I was still in my Brad Smith mode, so to speak, with Coleman, that I didn't realize I needed to change my gameplan with him at the helm. The next two games will reflect that change in the offensive gameplan.

When you give up interceptions for TD's, the game can take a massive swing in momentum.

Not really. I mean, I control the receiver when he catches the ball.. other than that, there's been no need for any house rules whatsoever.

Recruiting Update:

DT K. Vincent - (Blue Ash, OH)
Interest Level: Even
% Points:20
# on list: 5th

QB T. Carroll - (Glen Burnie, MD)
Interest Level: +
% Points:25
# on list: 4th

CB K. Richardson - (Barboursville, WV)
Interest Level: NC
% Points:18
# on list: 3rd

QB P. Washington - (Moore, OK)
Interest Level: NC
% Points:20
# on list: 1st
(Pat to visit Columbia this weekend)

FS R. Parker - (Magee, KS)
Interest Level: NC
% Points:17
# on list: 4th

I would rather see T. Carroll come to Missouri than P. Washington, but I'd take both. Carroll is a pocket passer and Washington is balanced. Carroll has better disipline, potential, and rating grades.

Thanks, really appreciate the kind words. Makes me want to play more when people are reading.

On the sbs dynasty, I remember that from when I was out of town last year, I was just thinking about that one when NCAA came out. LOL!

One question, how did you get the logos to show up in those box scores? When I post mine they don't show up, are you using dynastymanager.com's template?

Yes, that's the same one. I change the line of code where the logo(s) are listed and point them to the logo from yahoo.com.

We get smoked at home, and I have to hand it to Nebraska's defense, they played very well today, in fact.. the best defense I've come accross so far this season. Another Big 12 loss as well, shoot.

Very interesting read, Todd. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but it's refreshing to see someone not whip off 12-0 seasons right from the get-go. Will make winning with this team all the sweeter when it does finally occur.

I agree with Craig and Dennis. It's nice to see someone lose at first, makes the game seem like more of a challenge and also makes it a better dynasty read.

Coleman looked so good vs Iowa St. I did play Patton in the 4th quarter, he has a great arm, but is not mobile at all.

(Playing in Columbia was clearly a deciding factor for Pat Washington)

QB T. Carroll - (Glen Burnie, MD)

Our first commit!! ..and after that drubbing we just received from Nebraska. I’m not sure if Washington will stay out of trouble though, but I guess I’ll have to take that chance.

Well, without Smith it's apparent we're not going to win many games. We can't run every play and neither of our backup QB's are ready to step in and complete some passes. Of course my OL was terrible today and could very well be the reason we're not completing many passes.

Keep your chin up. Losing Smith was a killer, but your team will be back next year. Just think about all the new guys you're going to have

Yeah, it's tough when your QB can't pass.

I wanted to get another game in tonight, but we're getting ready for vacation. I'll be gone from July 29th until August 8th or 9th, from there I'm back at NCAA 2006!
