I always get a tad nervous when he mentions surprise features, and then follows that with the "I'm coding them as we speak" language. But otherwise, this is great news and long overdue. Maybe I've (we've) just been spoiled the last few years, but I've had a difficult time watching the first 2-3 weeks of the baseball season, and not also playing a new version of OOTP. It's killing me. I enjoyed ITP for a while, but honestly, not enough to put off OOTP almost a month!

WTF is up with those sigs, an 8 page cybersex log and something about the declaration of independance that made my eyes glaze over. At least I know to pre order by Friday.

Ksyrup, that's always made me nervous as well. However, he told me over a month ago he has a notebook with a number of small features. Basically, he picks the ones he likes and programs them in at the last minute. It's my understanding that none of these features are considered "major" and that this has been his modus operandi from day one. It took me a little getting used to when I saw it first-hand

As an example, one of the features he put in earlier this week was a "play" and "pause" button for the out of town scoreboard. Basically, it allows you to "pause" the scoreboard so you can "watch" the game of your choice (late season pennant-race? no-hitter?) without having to cycle through all the games being played. Kind of a nice little feature, but nothing that's going to dramatically alter the statistical database or other dynamic of the game.

In all the times we've posted about the merchandising at the OOTP/400 boards, I've never seen any indication that it's being addressed in this version (or that it's even considered an issue at all).

So maybe it's one of the "surprises". We can hope.

I think he knows too much longer and the closest thing to a riot on those boards might occur. It's funny, because the buildup is almost so bad that I hope people are really happy with it, or else it'll be like the first time you got laid. A whole lot of buildup, but not much to talk about.

'course, I hope you didn't have to pre-order that for about $26. 'cuz then I'd demand a refund...
