Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: Luis Rivera of the Noblesville Millers recorded a .398 batting average in April. His hitting spree racked up the Continental League Batter of the Month award for his trophy case.

The Noblesville right fielder battered opposing pitchers all month, accumulating 7 home runs, 25 RBIs and scoring 21 runs.


Red-Hot April Lands Cappelletti Batting Prize in RL
Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: In April, Napoleon Cappelletti beat the baseball like a drum the entire month and netted the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

In 25 games the Toronto right fielder hit .366 with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

CL Premier Pitcher is Apex's Nuti
Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: Galimberto Nuti has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in April and stole away with the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award.

The Assassins bullpen ace collected 8 saves and 16 strikeouts in 12.2 innings, holding the opposition to a .156 average and posting a 1.42 ERA and a 2-0 record.


Otani Grabs RL Top Pitcher Trophy
Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: Veteran Sotatsu Otani put together quite a successful stretch in April for the Hammersmith Hooligans, earning himself the Republic League Pitcher of the Month award.

Otani racked up a 5-1 record in 6 starts, posting a 2.62 ERA over 44.2 innings and striking out 28.

Continental League Names Rookie of Month
Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: Tim Jenkins is still a bit shy, but then, who could blame the newest Continental League Rookie of the Month honoree? He hasn't been around the league long enough to fully know the ropes yet, despite the fact that he's putting up veteran-like numbers.

In April the Brooklyn hitter tagged opposing pitching for a .348 average with 31 hits, 2 home runs and 17 RBIs.


RL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Tuesday, May 1st, 2142: Bryan Huff was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 25-year-old first baseman definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen April's Republic League Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 25 games Huff batted .343 for Hartford, slapping 35 hits in 102 at-bats with 6 home runs, drove in 16 runs and scored 13 times.

CL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
Friday, June 1st, 2142: In May, Víctor Chapa was the toughest out in the Continental League and that is the prime reason he was voted the Batter of the Month.

The Noblesville catcher rapped out 39 hits in 98 at-bats for a .398 batting average, hit 8 home runs, drove in 31 runs and scored 18 times.

This year Chapa is hitting .376 with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs in 50 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .454 with 26 walks and 28 runs scored.


RL Honors Young, #1 Batter in May
Friday, June 1st, 2142: Bob Young capped off a fine May by being named the Republic League Batter of the Month today.

Colorado's designated hitter hit .378 while collecting 11 home runs, 27 RBIs and scoring 24 runs. He also drew 14 walks to post an OBP of .462.

So far this year Young is batting .287 with 15 home runs, 36 RBIs and 36 runs scored.

CL Pitcher of the Month Goes to Victorie
Friday, June 1st, 2142: Teun Victorie took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Continental League Pitcher of the Month award for May.

The 23-year-old Winter Wolves starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-1 won-lost record in 7 starts. This month he fanned 50 batters in 41.2 innings and compiled a 3.02 ERA.

In 13 starts this season Victorie has crafted a 5-2 record with a 4.63 ERA.


Souza Is RL's Best Pitcher in May
Friday, June 1st, 2142: In May, the premier pitcher in the Republic League was Miguel Souza, thanks to some fine numbers coming out of the bullpen.

Hartford's star reliever held the opposition to a .192 average and put up 11 saves and 15 strikeouts in 14 innings with a 1-0 mark and a 1.93 ERA.

This season Souza has been credited with 17 saves. In 22 relief appearances and 25 innings pitched he has a 1-1 won-lost mark, 1.44 ERA and 26 strikeouts

Vincent in a Class by Himself
Friday, June 1st, 2142: Patrick Vincent earned May's Rookie of the Month honors in the Continental League for last month's performance. The boyish Noblesville left fielder might be wet behind the ears, but he's proving that he has what it takes to play at this level.

Vincent hit .356 with 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and 15 runs scored this past month on his way to winning the award.

This year Vincent is hitting at a .348 pace with 6 home runs and 22 RBIs. He has played in 43 games and scored 25 times.


May's Top Rookie Named by RL
Friday, June 1st, 2142: Youngster Bryan Huff emerged as the latest Republic League Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Hartford deserved the honor, batting .369 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI. Is the month of May a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Huff enjoy the limelight.

Huff is presently batting .357 with 13 home runs, 31 runs scored and 44 RBIs. His OBP is .414.

CL Top Batter Trophy Won by Cornock
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: Daryl Cornock battered Continental League pitchers all June and wound up taking home the Batter of the Month Award.

"I've been around Front Office Offseason League long enough to know you really have to work hard day in and day out to be able to put up this kind of consistency," the 37-year-old Cornock told reporters. "I put in a lot of work, even on the days I might not take the field, and it's always nice when everything comes together for me like it did this last month."

In 24 games, Cornock hit .370 with 4 home runs, 23 RBIs and scored 21 runs.

This year Cornock is batting .333 with 12 home runs. He has scored 55 runs and driven in 59.


RL Presents Batter of Month Trophy to Betacourt
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: Roberto Betacourt of the Rancheros hit .325 in June with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 14 runs scored to capture a majority of votes for the Republic League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 35-year-old is in the last year of his contract and will undoubtedly use these numbers to try and bring in a huge pay raise.

Currently Betacourt is batting .326 with 76 hits and 15 home runs. He has knocked in 56 runs and scored 36 times.

CL #1 Pitcher in June is Brooklyn's Lozano
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: There was little doubt around the Continental League that Martín Lozano would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for June. Today, they made it official, naming the 24-year-old Brooklyn Brownstones starter the latest honoree.

He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .226 batting average while fashioning a 0.96 ERA in 5 starts. His record for the month was 3-1 in 37.2 innings of work.

This year Lozano has a 6-6 record with a 3.88 ERA.


Republic League Announces #1 Starter
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: Paco Sánchez's been around the league long enough to appreciate the honor he received today. After going 4-1 in June, the 33-year-old Hartford hurler has been named Republic League Pitcher of the Month.

He fanned 18 in 42 innings, logged an ERA of 1.71 and allowed opponents to hit .224 against him.

This year Sánchez has compiled a 9-5 mark with a 2.66 ERA.

Patrick Vincent Named CL Rookie of Month
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: A veritable toddler to the Continental League, Patrick Vincent just sewed up the Rookie of the Month trophy for June.

Over the past month the 25-year-old left fielder for Noblesville hit .391 with 18 hits, 6 home runs and 9 RBI. He also logged 9 walks and compiled a .517 on-base percentage.

So far this season Vincent is batting .361 with 12 home runs.


June's Spotlight Falls on Rookie Star
Sunday, July 1st, 2142: Bryan Huff's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Hartford first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .344 with 6 doubles, 1 triple and 5 home runs. Huff also scored 14 times and drove in 13 runs.

Continental League Selects July's Best Batter
Wednesday, August 1st, 2142: Seasoned by several years of professional experience, 27-year-old Dave Davis put together a solid offensive month for Brooklyn and was crowned July's top batter in the Continental League.

He batted .394 with 4 home runs, 14 RBIs and 28 runs scored.



Davis is presently batting .315 with 12 home runs, 74 runs scored and 51 RBIs. His OBP is .396.

Wednesday, August 1st, 2142: Ann Arbor second baseman Rob Duncan certainly turned heads in July with some impressive numbers. He batted .290 for the month and was voted the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

CL Picks July's Top Pitcher
Wednesday, August 1st, 2142: Rafael Torres was the anchor in the Halifax bullpen last month and snatched up the Continental League Pitcher of the Month honors for July. The 32-year-old is in the prime of his career and pitching like he intends to stay around baseball for quite some time to come.

He threw 14.2 innings over 14 relief appearances and collected a 1-0 record with 14 strikeouts and 10 saves while etching his 2.45 ERA.

Simpson Captures CL Batter of Month Award
Saturday, September 1st, 2142: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today Ken Simpson helped his contract negotiations by nabbing August's Continental League Batter of the Month honors.

The Halifax left fielder put together a .333 batting average with 8 home runs, 29 RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Simpson continues at this brisk pace.

In 127 games this season Simpson has compiled a .276 batting average with 130 hits and 33 home runs. He has also scored 69 times and knocked in 97 runs.


Popoca Wins Best Bat Award in August
Saturday, September 1st, 2142: Juan Popoca of the Chico Rebels spoke softly and carried a big stick in August and was justifiably proclaimed the Republic League Batter of the Month.

The Rebels right fielder rapped out a .383 batting average with 41 hits in 107 at-bats, drove in 27, scored 25 runs and chalked up a .421 on-base percentage.

Monday, October 1st, 2142: Beach balls were coming in at Luis Rivera in September and he banged, bashed and blasted them all over the park, putting up a .282 batting average and hauling in the Continental League Batter of the Month trophy.

The 28-year-old Noblesville right fielder collected 24 hits last month in 25 games. He put up 8 home runs, 14 RBIs and 20 runs scored. Rivera also drew 21 walks and compiled a .435 on-base percentage.

Monday, October 1st, 2142: September was an outstanding month for Toronto right fielder Napoleon Cappelletti and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Republic League Batter of the Month award.

Cappelletti compiled a .373 batting average and .411 on-base percentage for the month. In 21 games he piled up 31 hits, 10 home runs, 22 RBIs and 20 runs scored.

Currently Cappelletti is batting .331 with 173 hits and 28 home runs. He has knocked in 94 runs and scored 81 times.

Monday, October 1st, 2142: September's best hurler was Jorge Ibarra of Napa Valley. He overwhelmed CL hitters all month long and captured the Pitcher of the Month award as he collected a 4-1 record in 6 starts.

The 28-year-old Ibarra added 37 strikeouts in 37 innings and 9 walks to his season record and compiled a 1.22 ERA. Other clubs hit .189 against him.

This season Ibarra has compiled a 16-10 mark with a 3.20 ERA in 35 starts.

AWESOME! I'm back to tanking in the playoffs due to pitcher fatigue! I so love it when that happens. I also wish I hadn't gotten blanked during FA for most of the pitchers I tried to sign.
