As DC mentioned, I used the Cavs' logo, just using GIMP to change the colors to match mine. I found those at sportslogos.net.

Once again, moving on....

I have released SP (recently MR) Juan 'Chunky' Medina. The 37 year old will be missed, but with the other MRs I signed I need to make room to see if I can get back onto the winning side of things.

Man, you among all of the owners in the league have really solidified a legacy of guys who have only worn the RG in their career. That's cool. Medina, of course, took a one year midwestern vaca, but save for that...

He's a terrific pitcher. But, 44 END, doesn't come close to being a starter, IMO. 50 min, or you're going to need to carry at least one, maybe two extra arms in the pen.

I think I saw Valdosta with a guy in the 40s who threw 200+ innings, but I might be wrong, but I think thats what muns is referring to as well. Either way, that guy will be useful. And I usually have an 11 man bullpen anyway.

Endurance can improve with time. I had Arrojo as a Closer with about 44 for endurance and he is up to about a 56 right now.

Oh, yeah, not saying a guy like that doesn't have a ton of value. I just don't think it maximizes a roster's potential to start a guy with END that low. I have a guy named Qian with about 50 or 52 END, IIRC, who is very good, and he's probably the lowest I go (and partly because he's so good).

Well get those payments in. I don't tolerate lateness and I don't take checks.

Okay, I was really happy with the first 3 rounds of my draft. Beyond 3 rounds this thing was gonna be a crap shoot, so I think I did pretty well. I got the top guy on my list and 2 more from my top 30.

Yeah, I liked my draft, too, although I didn't love it. There were far too few quality SPs in this draft, and I don't exactly like getting a 1B with my first rounder. But Brock was my third overall, and I got him at 8. My list of 33 players lasted five rounds (right up to it; my 5th round pick was my 33rd rated player).

After that, I got a stinker in the 6th (a MR with sub 50 ratings in STF and CON, but super high MVM), but 7th thru 9th were actually all pretty decent potential guys.

muns won spring training.

That will surely test one of our most cherished "Poison Trophy" traditions here in FOOL.

Tien had a 46 for me when i converted him to a starter 3 yrs ago. He is the most consistant pitcher I have seen on here...not fabulous, but steady. He has the best BB/9 inning ratio in the league though which sure helps his endurance issues.

Which salary figure do we use to determine if we're over the cap? Is it the salary number from the current year column in the "Salary Report" button on the front office tab, or is it the "Player Payroll" line in the "Finances" button?

It's the payroll under the Financial Report, which right now is showing you at $66,328,800. So you have to move some guys down or cut someone to get down some $1.3 M.

I mean this as a sincere question seeking to learn something, not to be argumentative.

Howard Wade is a 54/71/59 potential right now, age 17. You refer to him as a decent potential guy. What is the ceiling for potential development for a guy like him? I still haven't seen anyone really gain much ground especially starting out with "yellows" like him. But I also have only really begun to pay attention, particularly with this league's development settings.

I think it really depends on the guy. I rarely see guys like that evolve into productive players. At the same time though, some of these guys get massive bumps that take them from 3-star potential to more. Sometimes, you get a one-star guy who evolves into more, with the right challenges thrown at him, etc.

I think it's all in how you develop him. Everyone here seems to have their own quirks to how they develop (or don't) certain guys. Some guys will love a guy with ratings lower than that, for the mere chance they might get better, others have things they look for in a guy that they swear by.

I think it really does depend on your philosophy or at least, as you develop one, try to tinker a bit with different things.

One great thing about this league for guys who might not have all of the OOTP experience as some of the others, the speed of the league allows you to try all sorts of different strategies and lets you watch what other guys do and learn from them and to adapt to it.

I think that it's a real goldmine for learning how the engine works and I bet, it could help you play in slower leagues, if you're watching, because we're cranking seasons out so fast, that we learn stuff and tendencies that other leagues won't get to probably until this version is almost out of style.

Figured out why it was higher, I forgot to take into account all the young guys I had up at the time that don't really have ML contracts yet. Sent everyone back down except one new guy making the club, and only had to cut one scrub to get under the cap. Yay.

Yes, I was being rather loose with my "decent potential" remark. He probably won't amount to anything, but I have seen guys like that finish with ratings above what their potentials are (like 58/74/63 or the like), and then pitch above their ratings, at least in the short term, and that's without the talent bump DC mentions, which is always a real possibility.

He's probably never going to play higher than AAA, but at least he has a chance. That reliever drafted ahead of him will almost certainly never see the pros. I might as well cut him right now.

I'm taking the cut now policy with a lot more guys, which is why I asked. Based on my own observations, a guy who isn't going in the right direction by 21 isn't going to ever (of course, this becomes self fulfilling if he is on the FA wire).
