Hmm, 9, 20, 23, 33, 37, 56, 57, & 63 on my list.

Not too bad, especially getting Beach in the second round, and nabbing one of the top 2B in the first, one of the hardest positions to fill.

I hit on 7 rounds with my list, the best I've done since my first list with 60 guys on it.

He had a 91 potential for contact in '67, who wouldn't try to put that on their system somewhere? I think Tasan and I are talking about the um, Raul Sotelo's of the world. Whats HIS upside?

Well, I got Pancho Hernandez, who I had behind Luna as the 2nd best 2B. He's a solid player who does pretty much everything except play good defense (but even that, at least he has a rating everywhere). I upped all SS, 2B and 3B early on in this draft. The best guys were actually the SS's, but Hernandez was among the guys I loaded up after putting Oliva, Forget and Vargas on the list (and Luna and Blake after them).

Nick David is a nice get. I thought about moving him up, but I knew my needs were more in infield prospects rather than pitching. You had to be a star to get to the top for me as a pitcher this year (although I did lead with Jesus Pena and Donald Long).

You would be surprised. I didn't get much in the way of offers for him when I had him in Colorado back in the day. He was let go eventually (I think by Tasan, might have been me, or maybe I finally succeeded in trading him). He has bounced around a bit.

His upside is that his rookie league team will beat your rookie league team.

Same here...Fitgerald, Pena, Long to start off.

David is decent, and a Lefty which moved him up a tick or two, not a top of the rotation guy, but those are hard to come by.

Yup, my same three, except I had Fitzgerald behind Pena and Long. As terrific as Fitz looks, I can get really good CFs. Getting really good, ace starters is much more difficult.

I had Blake higher because he's a premier lefty power hitter with awesome contact potential, and my stadium rewards those guys well. Still, in hindsight, I may have gotten the better pick. Time will tell.

I liked Nick David a bunch too, and should have had him higher, but I like the guy I got in the 2nd. He's probably going to play second base for me.

Heh, my park eats lefty hitters alive, especially power hitters. I am guessing it would be a fun Classic between us.

I fart in your general direction.

Yeah, what's expanded playoffs to a team that finishes 4th or 5th in their league anyway!

Yee! I almost moved him up because of the silly name. Solid player, not as versatile as I would have liked, but he has great CON ability and can play the tough positions. Good potential.

Reminds me of Kristoffer Shaffer, another of my draftees you let go.

My owner says he expects me to make the playoffs this year.

Really, it sucks having an owner with such low expectations.

My owner expects me not to burn the popcorn.

I have exported after trimming relevant salary. Our 64,786,000usd is a far reach more than 39000000 2 years ago. Too bad it will achieve the same suckitude.

I was actually wondering about that.

A hole. An opening possibly.

I was pleasantly surprised to see RF Ch'o fall into my lap in the 2nd round.

I had just traded a RF prospect that looked pretty strong, this guy should do ok as a replacement.

5 years, I envision:

C Avila
2B Castro
3B Barraclough (the younger brother of my #3 SP in the majors)
SS Strauss/Tate
CF Sanchez
RF Fitzgerald
LF Ch'o
CF Baird

I already have my young pitching core intact, at the ML level......assuming no more stupid, stupid FA moves like my Gonzalez signing this year ever again......starting to feel good about my team finally. I'll have to figure out who the CF will be, as Baird is young and very capable--providing he doesn't have a repeat of last year's performance.

I liked the Gonzalez signing. You blew my offer away, but that's more a reflection of my cap room than you overvaluing him.

Well I dunno......he has alot to prove. I'm not going to force him too far into the light, as I have some good arms in the rotation. I'm putting him in the 3 spot, and if he does well enough, will put him in the ace spot next year. I think it will be hard to get Huard/O'Dell out of that spot though.

As for the offer.....I regret it, to be honest. I really, really didn't want to tie up that much into a single player. But in the last 3 FA periods, I have watched too many good arms go right by me. For whatever reason, I decided to draw a line in the sand with him.

What excites me the most right now, is that I have 3 good pitchers all under 26 years old. Actually, make that 4. I have almost an entire future lineup in the minors, some of who will be ready just as my 30 year old guys in ML start losing it.

I honestly think I'll be in great shape this time in December. First time I have been excited since I started.

One thing I don't get about Gonzalez though....is that with his ratings, and stats....how does he not have more stars? And the scouting report says he's a backend starter at best???

Well, it is a lot of money for him, but the second thru fifth seasons are a bit more reasonable. And you can afford it for that stretch. He is overpaid in that stretch, but only by a million or two, IMO. He is vastly overpaid this year, of course, with that initial contract year you gave him, but you have the room.

The key is him pitching to his ratings. He had an awful stretch early on in his career, but his ratings have been steady from the start. The last two years, he has been very good. So it's a risk, but I was willing to make it at least.

I think you're set up pretty well for the future. As I said last night, you have a plan, and you have pretty much stuck to it. So kudos to you there.

As for the star ratings and scouting report, remember that they are both somewhat a reflection of the high talent in this league, especially at SP. And the game rates players badly anyway. I wouldn't worry too much about either, just the ratings and the stats.

Okay I'm really excited for my team now. Really. We aren't going to do much this year because the back end of our lineup is crap, as well as the back end of the rotation and pen, but wow we are stacked for 2 years from now. Lots of young, up and comers in the bigs now, AAA is stacked, and AA is pretty loaded as well. A and rookie ball are not shabby, either. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: The Revolution starts in 2 years. 1985 is mine.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens when your team is ready to go, Tasan. It seems Pike's "arrival" will be near about the same time or maybe just a year behind. Could make for an interesting rivalry as you both go forward with fully developed squads.

I think I might be closer to '86, as you mention Chief. '87 even. I figure that in 4 years I should have enough young guys in their prime to make a splash, provided that I am able to shore up what would be an aging bullpen.

It's gonna be fun going forward!
