I'll bet I draft a pitcher in the first round, a SS in the second round, and a 2B in the third round.

Chief needed time to study the CL in depth and conclude that kaos, who has declared he is in full on rebuild mode, is more of a threat than Cringer or I, who are about ready to make a run. Love it when Chief and DC report on the state of the league as it was 3 seasons ago.

Not a bad draft at all, I just wish this class would have come around about 2-3 seasons ago.

Crap, I felt like I forgot something in my export all day. I never set my line-ups and brought up the young guys. Doh! Oh well.

You like weak classes? I didn't see anyone like Phil Deen available in this draft!

No no, it was a weak draft overall, just some of the players in it would have been nice to have ready about now.

Yeah, he's what made the deal for me. I like Wiley and all, but I wasn't really interested in taking on an old starting pitcher, even as good as Wiley is and at 34 (not like he's 38). But Romero was someone I had to try to make a move for, especially with Gonzalez and Poole up for extensions (and dernitalltaheck Gonzalez wants some serious cash).

I think I moved some really good talent, though. It will be interesting to see how things play out.

Hey Alan, looks like another Big East title for you. Unless you blow it on the road to UConn, of course. If I beat Pitt, how does that work out, with a three way tie where all three teams beat one of the others?

New file is up!

Remember, send your nominations or volunteering to me via PM for the FOOL Board at large position. If needed, I'll have the vote for that over the weekend (to end on Monday night)

How about me losing to 2-7 Rutgers at home because of me overlooking them and playing scrubs and putting myself in a situation where I might pull the biggest choke job ever.

Oh, and I have no idea how that works out for the tiebreaker there. I always get confused on it. I don't know if it would then go off of GDCS rank, or the team to go longest without getting the title (Your school), or Point differential, or records against like teams.. or SoS.. or random coin flip!

Pretty shocking huh? And then there's the other side of it. I feel like former Atlanta reliever Maximo Lopez has been in the league forever, and I was shocked when I looked at him in the free agent pool, that he is only 28. I mean, he pitched 5 seasons for me, and the last one was in 1980!

how is my payroll up to $63million when i moved Joe Smith's $6million dollar contract off my books. unless McConnell is also making Joe Smith money, i didn't recall that he did.

McConnell is making 3.7 this year.

Keep in mind you have more than 25 players in the majors, so when you bring up extra people for spring training, it will inflate your salary cap figure a bit as well (190k per non-major league contract).

Yeah, no problem. I haven't been doing it daily to try to keep down on the size of the zip file. I've been doing it during the season sim every week though (to put players in their proper jerseys). If you all want it more often, just let me know. I've been doing it 2-3 times a week for the most part currently but not nightly.

I can't tell you how frustrated I am. I also have had a dominant Georgia Tech team in an old-school BBCF league that I commish and I have yet to put together a season that is even close to my team's talent. Thanks to being blown out by NC State tonight in that league, I have yet another season going down in flames. I am starting to think Football is not my sport.

I was going to post these last night, but the board broke and had timestamp issues, so did not want them to get lost in the middle of the thread.

Here are what the league modifier changes are expected to be for 1987:

Hits Currently 1.010 Increase to 1.120
Doubles Currently .949 Increase to 1.135
Triples Currently 1.456 Lower to .934
Home Runs Currently .915 Increase to 1.315
Walks Currently 1.162 Increase to 1.470
Strikeouts Currently .943 Lower to .900

Mostly, minor changes overall. The most noticable changes will be a more drastic increase of home runs and a lowering of triples. Everything else will likely receive small boosts, but nothing huge. I have a little more testing to finish, but right now the expected results from this would be the following change per game roughly:

Approximately:
.5 - .75 additional Runs per game
.2 - .3 additional hits per game
.1 - .2 additional doubles per game
.15 - .2 fewer triples per game
.20 - .26 additional Home Runs per game
.75 - 1.0 additional walks per game
.30 - .35 fewer strikeouts per game

I like these. Look forward to the progressive changes, as they will be good for the health of the league and for statistical realism.

Thank god for lower strikeouts

I'd like to pick up an infielder VIA free agency, is that possible ?

Yeah, you just have to leave a space open on the active roster if the guy signs and then ask Alan nicely to put him in the open spot on your team and lineup once he signs.

If he doesn't sign? You roll with 24 players the whole year. But I won the '69 RL pennant with 24 guys, so hey...it doesn't have to be a crutch.

He didn't mention that I also need bribes as well?

I'll send myself a PM to remind myself to do this tonight. This type of thing isn't a big deal at all for me to do. Anyone interested just needs to usually drop me a PM with the simple directions before hand is all so I see it.

The only real stickler is what Dark Cloud said, once the season starts no one moves up or down from or to AAA. So if someone wants a player from free agency added to the active roster, they have to run with 24 there and take the chance that they get outbid by someone else for the player they want.
