Here we go to the start of the pre-season. It's a bit of an adjustment seeing all of these teams with human owners. It's a nice sight to see again!

I am against the moving of a team to New Orleans. Valdosta dominates the South Eastern US TV market, and begrudgingly gave up a small section of the Atlanta metropolitan area. I will not stand for this!!

I haven't checked, but with all the players leaving El Paso over the years, the now New Orleans should have a ton of money. In fact it is probably the closest to an empty cupboard team you could get right now.

This might actually be the first halfway decent looking draft class we've seen. People might freak at the stars, but just look beyond those. When you see 1 star prospects with 89 power and 85 contact potential, that tells you alot about whats going on with those star ratings.

First 2 rounds for most teams should have solid major leaguers in it, 3rd and 4th rounds should have guys that could be major leaguers and beyond that it is more of a stretch. Of course it won't look that good compared to all of the supermen that are out there but finally a normal looking draft class.

My boy is sick this week so my lady & I are not getting the kind of sleep we need, he's a bad sleeper as is, so our normal sleep the last year & a half is about 4 hrs...but he's worth every zombie-like state in the mornings. At least I got FOOL for the long nights & coffee for the AM.

Just wanted to welcome to the FNG's...I hope they have very understanding significant others, b/c they're gonna need it.

I let the AI do it for me, so I don't know. But my guess was that if you used just one list for the entire draft, that you would use that as I'd like to pick EITHER Joe Schome or Bob Jackson with my first pick, then they go in preference order of who you'd like.

AND implies to me that it's "I'd like as many of these guys in succession if they are available as possible"

OR implies that the two between it are interchangable based on availability.

But that's German engineering.

I -think- how it works is:

The list goes down in order the "AND" choices... Say you want:

Player 1 (if available) AND Player 2 (if available) AND Player 3 (if available)

The AI would then say, is player 1 available? if yes, then you get him. Next round is player 2 available? if yes, you get him if not then is player 3 available? If yes, you get him, if not next on your list etc.

The way "OR" works is:

YOu say you want Player 1 AND Player 2 OR Player 3 AND Player 4

It first looks is player 1 available, if yes you get him, if not then on to player 2. THen on player 2, is he available? Lets say yes. Ok you get player 2. Next round it completely skips player 3 and goes to player 4 instead since you only wanted player 2 "OR" Player 3, but not both.

Practical applications of this? Well say you don't want the AI drafting 3 catchers or 3 MR guys in early rounds or something, you can say you only want to draft one of these then move on to other players I guess.

If you release a guy, the cash you have as surplus pays the entirety of that deal and yes, he's removed from your cap. The whole point of releasing a big contract to get under the cap, is usually to free up space to go after guys who are out in the market. Or to get out from under a bad contract.

But you can't say, sign a guy to put you over the cap. Game won't allow you to do it.

No order because the draft isn't up yet. All we have is the list. The order is in reverse of last year's standings. No more pick trading (thank goodness, for me in a clerical sense) and so, no traded picks or anything to worry about.

Not serpentine, just straight worst to first in each round.

I could not remember if I exported before I left or not. Unfortunatly on other news my ROTC program has problems getting things decided when they want to do things and now I am afraid I will no longer have the time needed to participate in this league. So it would probably be for the best if my team was set to AI unless I know for certain I will be able to be active. Thanks for the memories, hopefully I will be able to join again soon.

I designed this league to be one that if a person missed a month, they wouldn't have to quit, they'd just miss a few seasons, but wouldn't lose their team unless they'd just stopped communicating. Life gets busy and in a league like this, life could EASILY get in the way. But no one should feel like they need to quit solely because they're gonna miss a week (or more) of exports. I'd much rather hang on to good owners, than simply have someone exporting every night, but who doesn't participate and be truly part of the league.

Just an FYI for the rest of the gang, for those of you who are new and haven't been here since '64.

Hey DC I saw under front office/adv. info. that my player payroll is 64,898,520, but under payroll by roster it's 64,708,520...why? It's only 190k but still I'd like to know. Maybe it's the bat boy

or could it have anything to do w/that CF you fixed for me?
