Back on topic, while its certainly what I thought might happen this season, I can't say I'm any less disappointed. I knew it would be close, but I hoped I'd be in the running a bit longer.

What's cool about this league is, with the history and such alike, we'll be able to recall the dominance of Valdosta's run now -- they might not win another title for 40 years -- but, this era is unique and we have the Champions Row to look back and can cite those teams and the players.

It's a neat experiment. Mostly, I was just plugging how CRAZY Valdosta's outfield wall looks.

I also posted St. Louis' banners which will be housed at the FOOL Hall of Fame.

Alan feel free to hurry up and go delete your posts about what you do. I think the entire league is gonna start to shift to what you do now

Yeah. After I made a banner once (and sometimes, uniforms, etc.) I just load up the file and alter it.

Easier that way and good for consistency. Some teams (Colorado, Valdosta) are just so frequent that it they started to make it necessary.

We're going to have to take down the statue of Doc Holiday in order to fit the 1976 one with how large it is!

As always neat stuff to see. That wall is super crazy. They are gonna run out of room pretty soon

Nah. I don't think it can work that way. That team was build for his strategy and his methodology. I think you can try it, but it won't work. I know a few years ago, I tried to mimic his offensive strategy. But it didn't work for my team and we were way under my expectations.

You just can't do it. You have to build a team that plays the way you wanna play or at least, build a team that will conform and play ahead of what the standard for the rest of the league is.

OOTP has matured to the point where there is enough grey area for you to say "well, he just didn't have a good year" rather than "his ratings were broke."

I think that's an excellent thing.

Nah, they'll just have the world's most unbalanced ball park. 360' to left, 700' to right.

My word. 11-17 in June, including 5 losses to Atlanta, 3 to New York, and 3 to Brooklyn. That killed my season, right there.

Something tells me it's not that ugly when you are deciding if they will stay in the lineup for the FOOL Classic.

The last original Valdosta Peanut has announced his retirement.

Billy Stephens has chosen to retire at age 33 after 13 seasons with the Peanut. Unfortunately he wasn't on the big league team this year, it will still be sad to see him leave the league. He'll never be remembered for anything special as he was just another middle relief/setup guy, but he was the heart of my bullpen for years.

Thanks from RG as well DC, we enjoy seeing the uni's and colors back in the 'older' style. The RG can stick around as well, I am perfectly fine with that.

On July 15th, Tanaka hit his 400th homerun.

On July 13th he had his 2500th hit.

OW! Maresuke Saito, who was awesome last year, completely fell apart this year. He started 5 games in that horrible month of June, and we lost every single one of them. He earned 4 of those losses, which put him at 1-9 with a 4.25 ERA. By the middle of July, he was at 1-11 with a 4.76.

NOT what you want from your #3 man.

He pulled it together a little in the back half, and finished 7-13, 4.07, but the damage was well and truly done.

I'll say! This is shocking. Never been happier (or to be more accurate, uncaring) to be losing in September.

Well, Sparks is pretty much done for. Not only was the record bad at 8-12 but he lost 10 points for Stuff as well. Pablo may be forced into the #1 spot of death for RG. My pitching staff is quickly dried up.

Dan Hurley of Brooklyn tied the FOOL record for triples in a season with 23. The previous record of 23 was held by... Dan Hurley in 1973.

Stan Miller of Atlanta broke the FOOL record for saves in a season with 51. The previous record of 50 was set by Aaron Daily in 1969, whom was with Compton at the time.

Joe Hart of Colorado tied the FOOL record for complete games with 13, which was previously set by Ricardo Torres of Valdosta in 1967.

Woot! Not only did he have another damn good year at 36, but he excepted our lower then asking price extension. He wanted $13mil a year, He took $11mil a year and is locked up until he is 39 years old.

It looks like Steven imploded. His actual stats from last season kind of go in line with a 36 contact rating though.. but this is one of those things that Markus locked a thread on the OOTP forums just today because it doesn't happen in OOTP anymore

Columbus clinches their first RL pennant!

Wow, way to go, Turner!

And my heart goes out to muns. He has a hell of a team.

I feel a little a part of both, because I know the deals I did with both teams contributed to where they ended up this year.

muns, your time is still coming. Keep strong.

And Turner, good luck against GOLIATH.

Is it a good thing on my most popular player page that 3 of my 5 most popular players are relief pitchers? Everyone loves Goose Gossage I guess.

Freakin Bob Arnold wants $36 million to resign with me.. Someone should explain to him exactly how little worth 1st basemen are in this league.

So what did I say in the preview thread? Astounded if I got to .500 or even last year's 75 wins? Hmm...color me shocked.

I need to send a PM to greygoose, in case he isn't checking in. I think he'll love this.

Also, my instant reaction: this is going to be very, very bad for the longterm development of my team. I know, I know, shut up, Chief, but seriously. This will make me think I am closer than I am, and make me make "now" decisions instead of "future" decisions that could lead to better long term success.

Plus, I was counting on that high draft pick. FTW.

Can someone send me the "tanking" handbook, please? Thanks.

Ya know what, im at a loss for words on how that happens with scouting off.. How there is room for a 70 point drop off in a rating.. Blows my mind, but its not a problem huh....

Well I offically got murdered in the Atlanta deal now, and i have 10 other OF's I could have used this year.....

Very Frustrating

Oh.. get to face Juan Reyes in the FOOL Classic.. story of a happy 1 star second baseman that I gave a chance, taught him how to play big league ball, made him a star and then slammed the door on his butt as he left town because we wouldn't give him a $13mil a year deal. ugh!

Ruben Mendoza gets his chance to get revenge on me too..
