see, the only prob i have with not allowing the AI to tinker is since we can't touch our teams once the season starts it's kinda stupid to have a guy batting .190 at the leadoff spot. realistically you would put him lower in the lineup until he worked out the kinks. could probably eek out a couple more wins by adjusting lineups. only thing is i'm afraid to see just how much the AI would screw up my team, so i'll roll the dice.

At this point, I'm rooting for muns, he's been in the same situation that I was in before I won, just knocking on the door. I don't want to see that team collapse. Go Hartford!

I hear ya, but the risk is just too great. Markus can't even get a point-and-click draft list module right, how on Earth is he going to handle AI?

My take on things is, the CL has some good teams in the middle and then one dominant team at the top. In the RL, parity is crazy. Every year, 3-5 teams in that league can win it and sometimes, 4-6. It's just a deep league and all of the teams beat up on each other to determine a winner.

I think there are strategic differences, owning largely to the way teams are built, to the way the leagues play, but...I do think the competitive level in both leagues is sound. I think there is just an issue of too many teams employing similar strategies and the whole thing of continuity too.

It's fun to watch and it'll be more interesting to see how it evolves into the 80s, with a new generation of players entering FOOL and emerging.

Agreed. To me, it's not worth the risk, though I hear you on wishing you could tinker some. Probably with tinkering is, it's never enough. Once you start, you always wanna, you know? Or at least, I do.

I would be rooting for Hartford were it not for my Colorado roots. Kinda rooting for New Orleans after the spending spree, too.

I haven't started simming up yet, kinda letting us fester on things a bit. The league leader in wins is Joe Hart of Colorado with 15 wins. Alan Poole of Compton is hitting .396, Walter Little of Hartford leads FOOL in HRs and RBI with 32 and 94 respectively.

Carlos Gonzales has a 2.31 ERA to lead everyone and 173 strikeouts.

Hartford has the #1 ERA in the RL at 3.50 and the #1 batting average at .302 Valdosta is 1st in the CL in ERA at 3.53, but New York actually leads the CL in hitting at .303

No, the Expos. Long Island is the Cubs. Maybe the White Sox, now that they've moved.

I just have a hard time accepting that I get my ass handed to me time and time again by a team called 'The Peanuts"
I propose we force Alan to change his team name to something more fitting, more menacing!
The Ball Stompers
The Heart Ripper Outers with a Spoon's
The Divorce Lawyers

Anything...PLEASE....getting whooped by the Peanuts is so demasculinating! (is that even a word?)

All I'm saying is, with that pitching staff, you better rip Valdosta a new one if you get into the Classic. September standings to follow.

Well, we're over .500, which is one of the places I wanted to be. 10 games back at the start of August is not the other place though. 3 maybe, 5 tops. I don't think we have a run in us, but we have gained .032 points in win percentage over the month. Stupid 'pooners having a great season though. I kid, I love ya muns.

And Alan, I swear if you say your team is gonna be bad before the season starts one more time I'm gonna come through the net and smack you. ;- ) 74-39 with a 12 game lead......gah.

muns, I tip my cap to you. After being here since the 1964 season, you're finally going to the Classic. That's a hell of a drought that you've ended today, so we're spraying the bubbly all over the stands for 'ya bud. Hell of a job on the rebuild.

I am rooting for muns to finish with more games, so we can get the final Classic game out of that warped ballpark Alan plays is.

And, yes, I know I play in a park called The Wind Tunnel.

Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can check ballpark stats? Not the ratings, but how the numbers played out in a season? I would love to compare 1976's stats (final year, pre-configuration) with 1977.

Uh oh. No Tanaka on the All-Star roster. Me wonders if he showed some age this year?

Congrats to Hartford. Rio Grande has decided to not recognize the CL winner this year though. Well done again Alan.

The Almanac? Go to History, click on your team's abbreviation and click on the '76 season, then look @ the splits for home stuff versus away? I dunno if there is a way to do it other than player by player, tho.

Ugh.....we had another nasty August and September to almost slip below .500. I can get a team a decent start, but I can't seem to get them to finish strong. Ugh.

Or I'll let him pitch in the All-Star game next year, since there is no rule on how many guys I can add to all-star teams. I let the AI decide usually, but we can add him to the squad next year to let him start as a swan song.

Big time congrats to muns and Alan T, two true heavyweight GMs and personalities in this league.

I'm rooting for Alan, believe it or not, even though I am glad he won't have home field. muns can't get it all at once. He's going to have to work for it. First league championship. Then Classic title!

I meant to have a 5-man rotation, but forgot to change the thing from 6-man to 5-man and so, my spot starter ended up as my 6th starter anyway. muns got his wish.

I saw that too and my jaw dropped....... I wonder if he just magically found his talent and got an OOTP bump somewhere.

Shoot, sucks to hear about Prado.

His stats aren't really good enough to get him back on a team next year, IMO. Really, if he wasn't Prado and we weren't planning to do this, I would have had him in the minors or maybe even released him. Cash or Withecombe would have probably performed better.

Xinpeng Tien went 15-9 as a starter this year. I was impressed.

I am glad the final days worked out with Baltimore ahead. That way I move up in pick order for a meaningless game.

Thanks, ekcut!

Well, I'll sign him if you don't keep him. After all, he started his career with me and since I botched this (and he should go into the Hall as a Firecracker) I can make it right.

Violators take a step back. also, losing OF Horswil for nothing set us back 5 years, especially since he went to Colorado who finished ahead of us.

Baltimore came back from that horrible start to finish close enough to make me wonder "what if" with that damn start
