Man, Anthony might have another MVP. Won't he be tickled pink about that.

Personally, I'll be pulling for my guy, CF Paul Morris. He's a bright shining star on my dim bulb of a team. Oh and he hit a boatload more HRs than the other guy.

Wow, what an odd season. Congrats to kaos on returning to the Classic. He had a very good team this year.

lol...I know a lot of you dropped comments about how I would be pissed, but actually I am not. I have seen this team do this before. Two years ago, we had a great looking offense, and it basically shat the bed. Unbelievably bad, people hitting well bewlow their ratings and career numbers to that point. Well, really, that's what happened again. Pretty much everyone had a worse season. Gonzalez went from MVP candidate to below .700 OPS. I mean, wow, what happened there?

So I am going to write it off. Not to mean I won't make changes--I am actually planning big changes. But this season ain't nothing to get worked up about. It is what it is. At least I will finally have a decent draft pick position.

As this is a new system for everyone, I obviously will be a bit more leniant to start than 5 years from now.

I am not sure how leniant FOOL should be because it is not a sudden change. Owners have known for about 3 seasons now that this was coming.

Additionally what is the status on releasing players at the end of the season. Say a player has two years left (over $5 million, non-option second year) since he just did one year can we release a player and put them on this years expenses or is this still considered a two year contract until the expenses roll over to next season?

Edit: Also I didn't notice how close to the cap Toronto was, but they had 5.9 in player expenses heading into this season because they cut SP Leis after the classic. However his should be covered because unless we changed the rule (found here) the top two teams in each league were to recieve extra playoff revenue because of the little amount the game hands out.

To answer the questions in order, regarding penalties.. I don't really get a kick out of penalizing teams or carrying a big commish hammer. I also understand there are mistakes that happen at times or poor judgement. I am planning on announcing what penalties for various rule infractions will be tommorrow and I think most everyone will consider them fair. The idea is to penalize enough so no one would purposefully want to break the rules. The penalty will be subtly more leniant for a 1 time abuser than a habitual abuser.

After the regular season is over, you have already paid out the entire contract for this season. If the player was due $6mil this year and $6mil next year, at this point their entire contract has been paid out you can release the player if you want and eat just next season's contract (the final year of their contract). This of course is with the caveat that you need to stay positive budgetwise to do so.

Also, in the end it looks like Toronto and Boston both likely will be ok budget wise just due to having incentives that triggered alone. It seems likely that all teams will end up in the black for this year.

That is fine, I just think the punishment should be the same now as it is down the road. I do not feel teams need to be overly punished. I am concerned about the findings that the amount over the cap is strictly from bonuses. I feel this assumption is wrong, partially because I don't believe they are paid out until after the classic and the other portion because I know there is no way this is possible because there would be just too much money missing then.

I'm not doing any penalties until after the FOOL Classic is over anyways. Once the playoffs are over and we are simmed forward to the offseason, we'll know for sure at that point. Everyone who has an incentive that triggered should still notify me before the FOOL Classic as previously mentioned though or I won't be able to credit your team.

I wouldnt have a problem with either one of these 2 guys winnin the MVP. Smith just wasnt a one dimensional player, he stole bases, hit for average, had a ton of RBI'S, and had a nice OPS and VORP. I dont put him into the same category as Crawford last year. Last year a number of top guys had off years too btw that I didnt mention, and this year a ton of guys had great years.

Morris had a fantastic year as well, and IMO is one of the top young guys in the game. Tasan is gonna have a good one on his hand for a long long time.

Tasan wanna deal??

I personally think that Joe Smith was a more valuable player to his team and perhaps a slightly better overall player this year for Long Island. Paul Morris was in my opinion the best "hitter" in that league this year. I would think they would be 1 and 1A for the MVP.

I'm not choosing the awards, I'm letting the AI do it because it is much more fun for us to debate the closer awards after the season when I don't feel like everyone is second guessing my opinions.

And, after much chin-stroking and staring at muns's numbers... I'm exported for the Classic.

Good luck to you, muns! ... But more luck to me.

(I'm gonna need it.)

Wow, I am happy to be back. I sent a PM to DC on another board this morning telling him I may not be back ont eh board for a while because I wasn't being allowed to bring FOFC up in any way at all, along with an email problem. I thought I had tried everything, but I guess not. Finally thoughts of reseting the router itself by unplugging it for a bit. That seems to have worked.

Anyways, it seems I finally got some pitching, best RG has had in years, only to have the worst hitting season in team history. I don't know why the bats faded away and dropped off. Oh well, fits the team image now.

Wow, 13 years in-between players that get 6 hits, and we have two in the same season.

Nothing but respect for what Toronto managed to do. Proved that it's hard to do it once, but even harder to get back. Congrats to you, sir. Also to Hartford, winning 5 pennants in a row is not easy to do, but a testament to the team you've built. You're a class act.

As for Boston, I applaud my squad for the work they did this year. They faltered a bit down the stretch, playing less than average ball. But for an organization that has only had one winning season in its history and given the fact that we missed the first two days of FA, I'm quite pleased with what we were able to do. No real idea what the future will look like, as I've just piecemealed this thing together, but...nonetheless, I think the future is bright.

Yeah, I was a little sick to see what great seasons Raz and Arrojo had. Raz especially looked pretty good, and further proved that my slider settings suck apparently.

Well speaking of sliders...this is the first season I set sliders for every situation and circumstance in the game. I've never done that before, usually I just done a cursory look at them. But this year, I was being very deliberate about that and it seems to have paid off.

So thanks for reminding me of that. I'm really happy with how that turned out

But for an organization that has only had one winning season in its history and given the fact that we missed the first two days of FA, I'm quite pleased with what we were able to do. No real idea what the future will look like, as I've just piecemealed this thing together, but...nonetheless, I think the future is bright.

lol you finished 4th, 1 game back from third..... Going from last place and only 59 wins the season before to 4th place and 80 wins is quite the accomplishment IMO.

I think your future will be just fine DC

The answer it seems is some incentives do appear to not be paid out until after the playoffs are over. I saw a few teams drop even further in the balance after the season ended. I believe you are correct in your assumption quoted above.
